Shockingly horrific. Took our 4 year old there after we were reffered. Two separate issues. How we as parents were treated, and how our child was treated. Ill start with how our child was treated. Firstly, if you have a child with overstimulation issues be warned, the waiting room with filled with bright lights and video games(no calm toys or books/magazines to read). Then the exam room had absolutely nothing(this is a pediatric dentist right?). So hype them up and take them suddenly with a room with absolutely nothing to distract them. At this point my child noticed a small monkey on the light and asked if he could play with it. The assistant said yes and gave it to him. He was happy enough to sit and play with it. The dentists came in and while we were talking about what to do the assistant came and ripped the toy away from him and replaced it with a tony plastic dinosaur with no words or communication whatsoever. At this point my child who was upset started hitting amd stimming and those there were saying they couldnt work on him hed have to be put down to sleep for any dental work. During the whole time he was there they touched him without consent or communication and even scoffed at me suggesting that he does well (with his sensory issues) being told before touching and being honest if something could be uncomfortable. So that was my issues with how my son was treated. Next issue was being disrespected when we asked why their opinion was different than the dentist we saw a couple days ago. Thats fine they had a different thought, it was just a shock because it was so severe (pulling a tooth instead of filling it) and my and my partner just wanted to understand risks, pros and cons. It was my understanding from the other dentist that pulling would be a last resort because it was a back tooth and nowhere to put a spacer until his 6 year molars came in. It could affect his teeth development so i wanted to understand why and make an informed decision. Well she didnt like us questioning her "authority" and brought in her husband who actually said "well why dont you go back to that other dentist then". It was ridiculous. It got a little heated and I tried my best to explain i just wanted informed consent so i diffused the situation(even though it was awkward and I still felt talked down to and disrespected and essentially took the high road to stop the arguing). We did make an appointment for surgery later in May because i didnt want to argue anymore and it felt like we had no choice.(I didnt know if i could even get in to see anyone else) Later I did call the original Dental Group who reffered us upset and asked if there was someone else we could see. She reffered us to Dr Ray Tucker at Willamette Dental. Let me tell you night and day difference. I was starting to wonder if all pediatric dentists were just awful, but nope, he was amazing. The whole place was amazing and kind to all of us. In and out in an hour with a composite filling. For us just holding off until that molar comes in(or the baby tooth comes out) was important, and since there were no signs of infection that was what we did. My child was spoken to the entire time with respect. They at all time asked before they touched. I was spoken to with respect and felt like i could make a judgement free informed decision. So no, I would never recommend this place, especially knowing there are good places out there who will treat you, and your child, with respect.

For the last 15 years, Dr. Engle has been my childrens dentist. I cant tell you how pleased I have always been with him. He is great with the children and makes the whole dental experience fun. His office is completely geared towards children and their energy level, and his staff have always been great! I have been through 2 with braces and another has yet to be determined (but thankfully, looking good!). I have the utmost confidence in his professional knowledge and advice and would highly recommend him to anyone with children. The office has become great about being tech savvy too, and you can tentatively schedule an appointment online. As my youngest is getting older, I am going to be sad to move onto a "regular" dentist...but I am thankful we will hopefully have him a few more years. I cant imagine any parent being disappointed with him or his office.

I have been to both locations and I can say I am pleased with both and so has my daughter, both Drs have been great an patient with my daughter since she was at scared at her first appointment however they did not rush her and only went as far as she would let them, and when they she finally let them get X-rays and treatment they made it fun so she would not be scared. My daughter also went under general anesthesia and I could not have chosen a better place the doctors, assistants, and even anesthesiologist made sure all my question and concerns where answered. I have recently moved states but I will continue to go to Oregon for my daughters dental treatments and cleanings, since I have not found a dentist that is as patient and undemanding on children. I would recommend Great Grins for Kids completely

I am very happy with my experience at Great Grins for Kids. Everyone is happy, kind and helpful. They helped my anxious daughter be calm during her appointment. My daughter has never liked the dentist but this dentist experience was so different from all the rest. My daughter said at the end of her appointment, "That was fun. I want to come back!" She liked that she was able to watch a movie during her appointment. The waiting room is very kid friendly. There are video games, books and Legos. This will be my now permanent dentist place. I highly recommend Great Grins for Kids!

My kids have been coming to Drs Mark and Fariba Mutschler since they got teeth, with my oldest first coming in sometime around 1999. He just got his braces off last month after wearing them for just over a year, and my youngest will likely get braces soon, but his teeth will take a lot longer to straighten, Id bet. My kids love the way theyre treated, and they like the the personal attention they get, but I suspect most of all, they love the video games - because they always complain that we dont sit in the waiting room long enough!

The dentist treated me and my husband very rudely I felt disrespected as if my rights as his mother were invalid. Our son is only two why do you feel the need to traumatiz him or make him feel nervous that is totally unprofessional of you to do you need to work on your bed side manners. I do not want my son to become afraid of dentist like I am due to my experience of almost dying in the dental chair when I was 3 yr old. I also do not like the way the dentist told me cut a hole in his binky which could pose a potential choking hazard.
