I have taken our pets there for over 10 years. My advice: ASK questions. The care and the prices are VERY UNEVEN: sometimes knowledgeable and fairly priced and sometimes not. They tend to rely too much on high-tech instead common sense. When my sons rat was sick I felt pressured to shell out $200 for tests even though they admitted it wouldnt change the treatment. (Its hard to say no when your son is in tears!) We knew the rat would need to be euthanised and I was told different prices by different staff: as high as $300(!) which included an emergency fee, even though it was during regular hours and they had just seen him earlier. We finally met with a doctor and nurse who were very knowledgeable and professional and kind and only charged us 1/6th of that. (This doc is no longer there). We had already spent nearly $500 on a $10 rat- we loved him dearly and didnt want him to suffer but $300 to die in peace?! Really? Some docs call back right away and are good at explaining things. Unfortunately Dr Wright himself seems a bit indifferent at times. And honestly, they started to change when they built the new facility-- draw your own conclusions. Their meds are expensive! Some vets will tell you to pick something up at CVS for a lot less and other will say theyve "never heard of that-- does it work?". Since we have exotics and they generally give decent care, we keep with them. Vets deserve to be paid fairly. But if I knew someone better...I would be gone in a heartbeat.

So, I do not usually write reviews for places, however I feel compelled to share my excellent experience with Wright Veterinary Medical Center, and specifically Dr. Jennifer Boyer. Recently, my dog lost his appetite and I found a large lump on his neck a week later. Terrified, I called my vet (not Wright) and found that they were on vacation for a week. Scrambling, I called Wright on Monday morning asking for an appointment and they were able to fit my dog in the schedule mid-day. The staff, and Dr. Boyer, were extremely courteous, helpful, and totally understanding of me bawling my eyes out while trying to wake my dog from his sedative state after taking samples from the lump in his neck. We were there approximately 2 hours. The next day, Dr. Boyer already had acquired his test results and personally called me to check in on my dog and deliver me the good news - that he only had a bacterial infection (not cancer or something more serious which was not ruled out prior to receiving the results). Additionally, Dr. Boyer emailed me with additional information from what we discussed over the phone. In my opinion, they really went above and beyond to make sure that I received the news as quickly as possible (24 hours later!) I would highly recommend Wright Veterinary Medical Center to all loving pet owners, and I will be switching to them permanently!

Called yesterday @ 8:05 to get an appointment for our dog who looked liked she had an eye infection. Was told the last appointment slot had just been filled but I could bring her in as a walk in if I didnt want to wait for a Monday appointment. The receptionist predicted it could be a short wait or about an hour as they tried to fit me in between appointments. I was there by 8:30 thinking it would be less busy earlier than later. When I got there the receptionist told me they had a 9:30 cancellation and I could come back then or just stay. What she didnt tell me was that if I stayed I would be charged the emergency fee of 151.75 vs 55. When I got home from the appointment and took a look at the itemized bill, I immediately called them back and got the same receptionist. I told her that in the past when we had brought a rabbit in, we were told in the initial phone call that there would be a emergency charge. She said that they dont call it an emergency anymore, now they call it a walk in. I asked to talk with her supervisor who is supposed to call me Monday.....Wrights should be clear to their customers what their policy is. I would at least have tried another vet practice, that Ive also used, to see if I could have gotten her in there without an emergency appointment.

awful disgrace for a vet. they got me in for a quick vaccine shot but after that it turned into a joke. had to pay for check up, ok i get it, but during the half ass exam dr singh took a tissue to my dogs ear and said its a yeast infection. i agreed to buy $60 in medication and took it with me. at this point Im kinda skeptical so we dropped off our dog at a kennel for two weeks while we were in europe and asked them to look at his ears. guess what we came back 2 weeks later and they said he showed no signs of irritation in his ears and the medication wasnt needed. i called to talk to them about it and got an answer of OK we will refund your money for medicine but not the exam because it was done correctly.......how is that possible? the "medical practitioner" got her degree out of a cracker jack box and has no common sense or customer service. how are you going to admit fault and still think you were right on the exam. she said to bring the dog back in so they can do it again. i said "no you had the opportunity when i was there the first time".

Worst vet experience that I have ever had. We brought our dog in for showing signs of lyme disease, after being a vet tech myself for 3+ years i was certain it was lymes. I authorized the tech to take the dog into the back for the lyme disease test. (which she came back positive for). At the time of check out my bill was $500, in shock i wanted an itemized list of what was done. The doctor took it upon themselves to run an extensive blood work panel without my authorization. When i tried to refuse this the tech stated that they already ran it so we had to pay. Several days later i received a phone call from the vet that they wanted me to pick up more medication for her. Little did i know that for 30 pills they wanted to charge me $150. This place is ridiculous, to top it all off i called for my records and they would not release them to me unless i paid the $10 fee. DO NOT make the mistake i made trusting these crooks.

We have been taking out pets to Wrights for over 10 years now. The most recent trip was to euthanize our rescued dog from the NCSPCA, we rescued her in 2005 and she developed a heart murmur. The staff was great - nice and compassionate, Dr Flynn was amazing. This place can be pricey, but they can do ANYTHING your pet may need. I do wish they would have clinics for people strapped for cash. FYI.... She was 35-40 lbs. German short-hair/pit mix. The annual checkup price for her was including shots and the office visit was $240 - $300 give or take. An x-ray is $80 +. If you need to save some money see when the Northampton County SPCA is having a Vaccine clinic. Clinics $ RABIES $15 DISTEMPER $15 BORDETELLA $15 HEARTWORM / LYME TEST $25 FIV / FELV TEST $25 LYME VACCINE $25 MICROCHIP $25 HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE, by weight NAILS: Dogs $10 Cats $5 Update. Dr. Flynn wrote my family a condolence card. Such a nice gesture.
