My Mother Rose Bowers was at Kindred from March 3, 2016 to March 24, 2016. Her stay at this hospital was as she put it an experience. When you first come in you are Greeted with a welcome bag and a card from the Patient Relations Representative Carolyn Baier who welcomes you to kindred. This is something that never happened before. The Nursing staff was always nice and helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day. If you were walking in the halls to visit a patient or to leave for the day. You were always greeted with a smile from staff members in the hallways. I want to point out three members of the staff who went above and beyond the call of duty that I have seen. All the nurses, male and female were nice and very friendly but Ryan, Anya and John took extra steps to talk care of my mother. Ryan encouraged her to eat even when she was not feeling up to it so she could get better and improve. Even when he was super busy and did not have the time. He took the time to make sure she was eating. Something he did not have to do. Anya was always nice and funny and was a joy to be around. Even thou she was working she took the time to do her job and make sure the patient felt at home. Again another person to go above and beyond the call. John a male nurse who my mom only had for one day took some time out when he did not have her as a patient to come into her room and not only check on my mother but her roommate as well to make sure they were doing ok. Again something he did not have to do but did anyway. With all the good came the bad when I felt that my mother did not get the care during a few days at Kindred that I thought she should have. I express this to kindred and they assured me that the problem would be fixed. They took this very serious and took care of the issues. I also was told many times that if anything like that happen again please do not wait let them know right away. I was very happy with the outcome and how serious they took it. I am happy to say that my mother got great care love and support at kindred and that is the main reason she was able to leave today to another rehab location before she comes home. She is doing 100% better and a large part is due to the doctors and nursing staff and Kindred hospital. I am happy to say if we needed to we would go there again in a heartbeat.

My father has been at Kindred Hospital in Havertown for the last 4.5 weeks. He has made a lot of progress in that time. Kindred was an absolutely wonderful long term acute care hospital. The doctors he had from Mainline Health were top-notch and took his steady progress from his previous hospital and just ran with it. This has been a long journey for our family. Many hospitals and facilities would mention cost and Medicare rules to us in speaking to us about his stay, prognosis, and care. But not Kindred. Not once. They kept him as long as they possibly could and did what was absolutely best for him every single day. The physical therapists were excellent, motivating, and driven. They worked with love in their hearts. He had a lymphedema specialist, Barbara Lind, and I wish I could give her a million dollars. She knew her job better than anyone could and she worked hard and meticulously. She gave my father legs that he hasnt had in a very long time. She even made sure he had what he needed before he left the hospital - tools and instructions to keep his legs from getting bad again. Once I told the team in the first week or two that I wanted him to go to acute, not subacute, after Kindred (a request I would say was an absolute long shot at the time) his entire team went to work to try to make it happen. They just tried their hardest and it worked. Every single person at Kindred cared so much about my father, they could not have faked that kind of compassion even if they tried. My father is leaving there in tears because he will miss his care team so much. But he knows he is going to go back and visit on his own two feet after a couple more weeks in a nearby acute rehab. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Kindred Havertown.

The staff was professional, caring and friendly. That includes the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, patient advocate, cleaning staff and food services personnel. My daughter received excellent care and left Kindred in much better condition than when she arrived. At times Kindred seemed understaffed, but I know that the same situation exists at other sub acute facilities because medical reimbursements to them are too low. The few occasions when we were dissatisfied with a person caring for my daughter were quickly addressed and, when necessary, a different member of the staff was assigned to her. Overall, we were very please with the care that my daughter received.

I never knew what a "transitional" hospital was until my brother became ill and needed to be discharged from an ICU on a ventilator. Kindred hospital fit the bill. Within one week of being here he was weaned off the vent, had his trach capped and was able to speak for the first time in five weeks! The medical team was on top of all issues related to his care. The physical and occupational therapists were knowledgeable and extremely supportive and encouraging getting him back on his feet after his debilitating illness. I would definitely recommend Kindred Hospital to others requiring intensive medical and nursing care.

My wife was transferred to Kindred Hospital in Havertown from a hospital in North Carolina. After being in the ICU for over 3 weeks. my wife is doing Incredible. The care she is receiving from the doctors, nurses, therapist and staff is wonderful. The treatment for my wife and family has been outstanding. Bringing my wife so far in such a short period of time is beyond anything I could have expected.

Kindred Havertown was good. Nurses had smiles and a good word and that lifted you up. Some aides were exceptional. They looked out for you. For example, if I thought my sugar was low, I would call someone and they immediately came and took care of it. Nurse Mary treated me with a smile!

This place sucks!! The women at the front desk have zero personality and even less customer service. Its obvious that theyve just been doing a job and its no longer their passion. Dont even waste your time.

When my mother arrived here she was critically ill, and Kindred Havertown saved her life and put her on the road to recovery.

The nurses/staff have been nothing less than fantastic. The building itself could use a remodel for sure.
