If I can rate Chestnut Hill Hospital a zero star I would. I came here due to their guarantee to be seen within 30 minutes. I regret my decision thoroughly and will take the ER services at Temple U any day over Chestnut Hill Hospital. The PA (Katie Dubiel) was extremely pretentious and dismissive. I came in with severe neck pain in addition to some chronic headaches. I requested to have a CT scan done and she laughed at the request. They did not perform a CT scan. As someone who teaches High School Health, I just wanted to rule out any internal bleeding. To laugh at a patient request is just reprehensible. They did do an x-ray of my neck though. The nurse came out and handed me the patient instructions. She wasnt even going to tell me what the xrays had revealed-she just wanted to rush me out the door. I had to ask her what the cause of the pain was and what the xray had revealed. I then asked her what a typical recovery time would be and she responded, "I have no idea." This is a nurse I was talking to for crying out loud. If you have no idea you should check with the pretentious and unprofessional PA (Katie Dubiel) and the doctor on call. Or, perhaps, you should resign as a nurse because you are incompetent. I will be filing a patient complain with the board and will never ever go to Chestnut Hill Hospital again. This was the first time and will be the last. The care was extremely poor quality. Go to Temple, Jefferson, U-Penn or Hahneman if you want quality care and avoid the disaster known as Chestnut Hill Hospital.

I had to have short procedure surgery done at Chestnut Hill Hospital this past week. I have nothing but GOOD to say about the staff and the hospital from the Pre-testing thru the recover. Having never been at this hospital before I was apprehensive of what it would be like, but after having to deal with the incompetence of Abington Hospital for years, I decided to have the surgery done at Chestnut Hill. I arrived for the surgery at 5:45 am and drove to the front valet, which I was told to do by the out patient testing dept. When we arrived valet didnt open to 6am, but a employee that worked in that area told us to just leave the car there and he would have them move it when they came in. This being our first time at this hospital I asked for directions on how to get to the short producer unit.Instead of just sending us to follow directions in a hospital that we didnt know he got us a wheelchair and then took us right to the department we had to go to and was pleasant and friendly the whole way there. He also gave direction to my companions to the cafeteria so they could get something to eat and told us not to worry about the car he would take care of it. What a great way to start off a hospital experience. It did not stop there,EVERY department that I had to go to was more of the same, from registration to recover. You must be doing something right for to have employees in so many different departments be happy, friendly and caring.

I had a horrible experience here. I visited the emergency room several times with terrible sinus infections that kept me on bed rest. During my fourth visit, the ER doctor came out to my gurney with her hands on her hips and overtalked me while I tried to explain my condition in much pain. She lectured me and inquisitioned me on who my primary care was. She completely ignored that I am in the emergency room in undeniable pain needing treatment. She refused to give me antibiotics and also refused to give me the throat culture I asked for. She denied that they gave any throat cultures in their ER when I SAW another throat culture being given to a patient that same night! The doctors here are very pretentious and disgusting. They dont care about the patients. In addition theyre too busy making general assumptions about each inpatient than to really do their work and be considerate of each individuals specific needs. A week later I went to a seperate ENT who diagnosed me with exactly what I said I had. He prescribed me the EXACT antibiotic medications I requested and was refused in the terrible ER at Chestnut Hill. Do not go here if you want actual treatment. You are better off self diagnosing it at home ...

I went to the ER here last night when I noticed a possible blood clot on my hand, the result of a nasty cut I got on my finger. The ER was pretty empty so I thankfully did not have to wait long for a single thing. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and even though I turned out to be fine they were still very attentive. While I was waiting I got to see the interactions of the staff doctors, it truly was like watching a family. Several times I even saw them hugging each other. Ive been to places where they dont look or talk to each other and you can feel the tension. Not the case here and it made me feel good, thats the kind of relationships that should happen in a hospital setting. A team that is bonded will work together far better. This place has easy parking and is the cleanest hospital Ive ever been to by a long shot. I have a much scarier hospital a bit closer but this was worth the extra time to go here. Im shocked at the horrible experiences others have had but in my one I can only give the highest rating.

My sister had a surgical procedure and unlike most hospitals, there was no patient progress board nor did any staff direct us to the proper waiting room so we waited in the registration area for over 2 hours before a nurse directed us to the proper waiting room. Her aftercare was also poor ~ it seemed like they were short staffed because both my sister & the other patient called numerous times for assistance before a nurse came to the room to help them. When my sister asked for a female nurse she was treated rudely & poorly by an orderly, the Nurse Supervisor and the subsequent nurse who "cared" for her. It shouldnt matter why any patient requests a male/female nurse, their goal should be to provide excellent patient care and they did not. As a family member I was appalled by the treatment that we received from the moment she went to the registration desk until she was discharged. I would never recommend this hospital nor will I ever willingly go to this hospital for treatment.

I was billed $1000 by Chestnut Hill Hospital for a simple x-ray. They justified it by saying it goes against my insurance deductible (which is $4000). But it is still out of pocket because I never came close to spending the deductible on health care, legitimate or otherwise. Spending considerable time on the phone - the representative just kept repeating that it is credit against your deductible as if I did not understand that the first time. I called my general practitioner who had ordered the x-ray and she was appalled. She called someone at the hospital at a high level. A few days later I receive a call from CHH reducing the charge to $100. Service has been OK but Chestnut Hill Hospitals billing practices are unethical. I cant go back there and dont even want to be associated with anyone in the adjacent medical building. I will go to Abington from now on.
