I called an ambulance for my fiance because he was vomiting and blacking out from kidney stone pain. From nearly the moment we arrived at Underwood, they kept pushing him for a procedure that he didnt need, before even having the results of a CT. They would wake him up and shoving a consent form under his nose to try and get him to sign while doped up on pain medication and groggy. He just needed pain management while the stones passed and our urologist stated as much. Underwood wanted to operate even though he didnt have a blockage, just sever pain as the stones were moving. He was admitted and the next morning I made the mistake of going to work instead of staying at the hospital with him. He began to have chest pain. He called the nurse and she told him there was *nothing they could do for chest pain because he was a urology patient!* The nurse said all they could do was call the urology office and let them know. He asked what they would do if he was in cardiac trouble and dropped dead on the floor? The nurse just shrugged and was sarcastically said then they “would have to call someone else”. When I finally arrived at the hospital my fiance was in horrible pain and not able to take a deep breath. Fortunately, after trying to get him to drink something, we (not the staff) figured out that it was acid reflux. We later found out that it was caused by one of the medications and made worse by laying down. But by this point, after hours of going untreated, his esophagus was so burned that he couldnt even swallow water. A tech finally came in with an EKG machine and I commented that it took them long enough to address his chest pain and the tech, very confused, asked “Hes having chest pain? This is just prep for his operation.” We never agreed to the operation and they already have him on the schedule! I asked for the charge nurse and his room nurse became very sarcastic and told me they “didnt have one” and even if they did, shed “tell me the same thing”. No charge nurse? I told her that I was going to have my fiance transferred and she is not to bother him with the operation consent form again. A short time later, I left the room for just a couple of minutes to speak with his mother privately, and sure enough the nurse went right after him with that form again. We told her to get out of the room. I started packing his things and was ready to sign him out AMA when his urology doctor finally arrived. The doctor seemed puzzled as to why my fiance was scheduled for an unnecessary operation at 2pm the next day. And when we relayed the above story to him, he told us that he had ordered that my fiance be given acid reflux medication every day since starting the pain medication. We told him my fiance had not received any. He gave my fiance a script for pain medicine and said he could go home. Surgery was not needed and he will need to take Omeprazole to prevent further acid reflux. I am going to writing the administration. I will never allow a loved one to go to Underwood again. Their name sounds like a funeral home and with good reason!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE FOR MENTAL HEALTH INPATIENT TREATMENT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Horrible. Brought my girlfriend there around 5 pm to be admitted to their mental health unit. When she went back to nurses triage I was told i could go back in 15 minutes to see her. 30 minutes later asked for a status. Security guard made a call and I was taken to a waiting room for mental health unit. Hour goes by and I ask someone at the desk there for a status. She said she had to call. 10 minutes after that nothing. I walked over to her desk and just stood there. After 5 minutes she asked me if there was a question I had. I asked about my girlfriend she said they said they were doing tests on her. 5 minutes later I saw her being wheeled out of the unit. I started to follow. I was intercepted by a security guard whom not only accused me of harassing a hospital worker, but said my girlfriend didnt want to see me! I spend 3 hours balling my eyes out and getting the run around. In the meantime the head nurse informed me that I did in fact NOT harass one of their employees (admitting they lied) and reiterated that my girlfriend did not want to see me. Around 11 I received a call from an off site psychiatrist who spoke with my girlfriend. She said my girlfriend never said anything about wanting to see me. I confronted their staff at the ER front desk and they paged the head nurse again. She said I could see her for a few minutes then I would be escorted from the building. I finally saw her and she said she NEVER said she didnt want to see me! During my short visit I took a picture of her to show her family thats in another state that shes okay. They told me to delete it. I refused and was escorted out the door by a dozen security guards (the guys who couldnt make the cut in law enforcement). IT TAKES A SPECIAL KIND OF SCUMBAG TO KEEP A MENTALLY ILL PATIENTS CORE SUPPORT AWAY FROM HER. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE REVIEWS. I went back the next day and they tried the same lie. Several security professionals told me several stories. They said that my girlfriend did not want them to tell me confidential information which was a lie. Not only did they speak to me the night prior but a psychiatrist talked to me today when they told me she wished to be discharged and outright said that she DID give them permission to speak with me. I called an off-site administrator which contacted the building had the head nurse check up in the unit and they told me that it was a staff members that did not want me to see her. I gave them a letter the night of to give to her they did not give it to her I called they said they would tell her to call me she was never told to call me. Denying her from seeing the main pillar of support and the emotional distress I went to all night Im getting a lawyer

Worst care I have ever experienced at a hospital. I passed out at work after getting food poisoning and an ambulance was called. The EMT first asked me in unintelligible slang what a coworker decoded as "are you going to vomit again" Then she said "because Im delicate that way and cant take it", this from an EMT? The whole ride over to the hospital I was shaking with chills and no attempt was made to give me a blanket or anything. At Underwood, I was left shaking in the hallway once again. Once I was moved to a room, I pleaded for blankets and got one, but it was not enough. The whole time I am explaining to them that the shaking is probably a symptom, from low blood sugar maybe? And they just made fun of me for being cold and asking for more blankets. One CAT scan tech even joked that if I "ate meat at lunch instead of a salad, I would have more meat on my bones". Also, I went about 30 minutes when I arrived without any monitors on and no nurse checking on me, and I had come in because I passed out and was convulsing, which I could have done again and no one would have noticed. In general for the 6 hours I was there, the nurses rarely came by. Eventually my wife pleaded with them to give me something with glucose in it, the nurses reply to me was that after I was discharged "I could buy some Gateraid at the WaWa." I explained I was an athlete with very low bodyfat and the chills and shaking were probably from low blood sugar. She responded by telling me how her kids were models and also had low bodyfat, WTF, still no glucose. To top it all off, the beds in there are like wooden planks and for someone that is not fat (which seemed like an anomaly there), they are so uncomfortable I was constantly trying to shift my weight. My rear is so sore today it hurts to bend over or sit in a chair. And I wont even go into what I saw with other patients. After I was released, my friend stopped in a local diner and got me some water with sugar in it. While in there he learned that my story was already known in there, HIPPA anyone? Apparently the locals call it "Blunderwood"... If I thought my condition was any worse I would have begged someone to drive me somewhere else.
