Just wanted to let everyone know that if your looking for a Healthcare Network, Abington Memorial Hospital deserves a look. I was rushed to the hospital on Sunday morning 12/18/2016, by my wife, for a suspected stroke. When we arrived at the hospital they didnt waste anytime in bringing out a wheelchair to rush me into the ER. At that time they started to work on me right away. After they got me stabilized I was told that they were going to have to admit me for more tests and observation. In no time at all I was in a room in the neurology wing. The nurses and doctors in that dept. were nothing less than professional and caring, especially Jaimey and Jainey (hopefully I got the spelling correct). When the morning arrived I had heard someone coming down the hallway singing away. It was the man in charge of delivering the chow( I called it the chuck wagon). When he entered my room he introduced himself as Myron and told me that as long as I was here he would take care of my dietary needs. Myron had such an uplifting personality you couldnt help but smile when he was in the room. He did a great job in making me feel comfortable. The Doctors were also genuine in the way that they treated you. I would not hesitate in using that facility for any of my healthcare needs, no matter how big or small. Thanks to everyone.

Took 10 year old daughter for stitches with my 8 year old son in tow. ER was very slow and waiting room empty. We were called back almost right away. Staff was great up until my daughters procedure was completed. We were told someone would be right in with our discharge instructions. I had to go out to the nurses desk three times to get someone to discharge us. Meanwhile, the patient right next to us arrived after us and was discharged before us. We waited an entire HOUR just to get a piece of paper with discharge instructions for 4 stitches. No one apologized for the wait and each time I went out there (I did not give them an attitude until the 3rd time) I was met with rude, lazy staff. No one got out of their seats. Since my daughter wasnt officially discharged she was still considered a patient during the hour we waited, yet not a single staff member checked on her. I called patient relations and I still havent heard back from them. Ive already typed a letter I plan to send to key members of the leadership staff. All someone had to do was apologize and at least pretend they were trying to help me. Its the rudeness I was met with that added fuel to the fire.

Not happy with this place to say the least, my wife went to labor and delivery 2 days in a row with bad contractions, she was told on the second visit that she "wasnt" in active labor and they sent her home. When we arrived they told her we will monitor you for an hour but we were already leaving within an hour so thats a fail. The nurse kept trying to convince my wife that the contractions werent close enough so go home and "bake cookies", "come back when you cant talk and tears come out of your eyes" and only then are you in active labor if you water hasnt broken by then. This is was my wifes second child AND she was 4 cm dilated when she arrived after being 3.5 cm dilated 3 hours before we got there. They sent her home and within 2 hours of her being sent home, my daughter was born IN MY VAN. Thanks for nothing Abington because the ambulance then sent her to Temple Hospital which dont get me started on them. For a city with so many hospitals, there sure isnt many bright/caring employees in them. Hope you enjoy your vacation to Hawaii and Italy because we heard your entire conversations because clearly that was more important.

In the last 6 months, my wife and I. happened to find ourselves in the ER room in Abington a few separate times. The wait was always reasonable, and they offer free valley parking for ER, making it very convenient for an emergency. Most importantly, although we have found all of the ER staff helpful, and professional, one nurse goes above and beyond. Her name is Perry. and she is the main reason for me writing this review. She is truly AMAZING. She deserves a raise, but please dont promote her, or if you do, keep her in the ER :) If it was possible, I would say clone her! She goes the extra step to make sure that her patient is comfortable. She treats the patient like a person, and not just a set of symptoms. She checks up often, and always asks the right questions. She shows genuine compassion, treats her patients with a high level of respect, is calm under pressure, and is able to project her calmness to her patients. She is highly detail oriented, and has awesome communication skills. If me or my wife ever end up in the ER again (hope not, of course), having Perry as our nurse just by itself would make us feel better.

Admitted through the Emergency Room, had unsuccessful procedure performed in that unit and was admitted to 2 Lenfest where I stayed overnight pending an opening in the OR the following day where the problem was completely resolved. The care provided in the ER, 2 Lenfest, the OR and PACU was excellent and the people involved were caring and attentive. The RNs, CNAs and people from dietary and housekeeping did a wonderful job and made the stay as pleasant as possible under the circumstances. There were myriad students from Nursing and Pharmacy who were knowledgeable and clearly well trained. Care by my PA in the ER was great as was the subsequent care by Drs. Sih, Pfeiffer and their attending, Dr. Cutler. The Internal Medicine consultant gave me excellent advice related to another concurrent problem. The only problem encountered was that medication for the pain could have been offered after the first procedure somewhat sooner; I am somewhat to blame, having failed to initiate a request. The OR staff, and CRNAs were efficient and pleasant. Abington Hospital EASILY deserves Five Stars.

Very racist, aggressive and provocative co-workers I saw in my life. When I got at AMH, as nutrition assistant, with a lot of excitement I started to work but from the first day my supervisors and coworkers treating me like why you work here? Go back to your country? Then they started to ask to marry African American, which I am not & not interested in them. They try to provocative a newcomer by asking their personal information. The majority are African Americans, and they dont know how to treat other people from other race and managers or directors doesn’t even care what is going on in a work environment because I am from another country thats why. If a new coworker started to work, especially a woman/girl, THEY approach you/ ask directly without any manners or shame to go out with them which I never see people like them in my life. They only want to steal people from other race/culture. Racist, aggressive, rude and provocative workplace I ever employed in my life. Money is not an important, calm and peace environment with good people is a great place to work.

I took my Down Syndrome adult son to the ER as he had a bad cough for a long time. His heart is bad and not pumping properly which is a problem in defeating the pneumonia that he had. He was looking bad with his face very red and swollen. We were there over 5 hours with staff that needs sensitivity training in dealing with special needs adults. My son was scared and a bit combative, but attending didnt have patience. The male nurse is way to fast and loud. My son was going through Hell and his diagnoses from them were allergies. I told them his valves leak and the history. He was not getting better so I took him to our neighborhood Temple Ready Center and he was diagnosed with a horrible sinus infection. With an antibiotic and a low dose of steroids, that night he started to get better. Will not go back to Abington ER. You are also forced to use valet parking. If you get the ER stamp it will not cost you, but you still have to tip. I just didnt like that you had no choice unless you can walk further away.
