Over the last 2 1/2 years I have been admitted to CRMC 4 times a total of over 60 days of inpatient care. I have been been a "user" of a majority of the services provided. The quality of these services vary. there are some very good, competent and hard working Physicians and Nurses and there are some very dangerous ones. For the average person on the street this provides a very confusing picture. The CRMC uses a " hospitalists " model to provide medical care and unfortunately this model is only as good as its weakest member and there are several Physicians on practice who do not measure up. Communication between rotating physicians and the consultants is poor. This causes a potential for error. Patients must be vigilant about their care to insure safety, I have experienced excellent care using the hospitalists model (at PA hospital )and understand how it works in the right environment. Staff attitude is a huge issue, especially among the professional nursing staff. Many of the "old timers" are complacent and have a "know it all attitude" their assessment skills are poor and they do not listen to nor value pt input. The most glaring offender is the ER which overall is a very dysfunctional and dangerous place. Attention to this area is essential to improving performance and the reputation of this hospital. Strengths of the center are the support staff, transport, housekeeping and volunteers. The dietary department had shown improvement but has a long way to go. More fresh foods and variety of menu would help. If they want a lesson in excellent food service visit Atlantic care in Pamona NJ perhaps the best hospital service in the tri state region! My experience with other departments varied interventional radiology was professional and nice. Pulmonary function and ultra sound great. Cat scan a disaster their failure to respond and listen to my warnings about inability to breath caused me to go into respiratory/cardiac arrest and I had to be transferred out to a Philadelphia acute care hospital. I woke up in the ICU there two days later! My overall rating of three is a fair one. I hope that as this region grows we will see improvement in the care provided at our one regional facility. Hope this evaluation will reach friendly ears and changes will be made!

Big fan of the staff and very appreciative of the care we received on an Emergency Room visit on July 3rd. Saw some rough reviews before I went there so I was on the alert to delays, inattentive nurses, crowded conditions. Thankful to say that was not our experience. Wife was severely dehydrated by some virus she had picked up days before. For a Type 2 diabetic, not a good thing. The intake nurse recognized this immediately and got us back to a bed in the ER. Nurse was on us in 5 mins, Doctor in 10. Within 25 minutes of walking in she was in a bed with a saline drip running. 2 more drips and some blood work and we were on our way in 4 hours, my wife back, alert, feeling fine and ready for the rest of our vacation. Cant ask for better than that. I get the comments on it being crowded. We spent those 4 hours on a bed in a hallway outside of ER...a very narrow hallway. Anytime someone with a cart had to come through, which was often, anyone else in the hallway would have to step aside so they could get through. But I saw a staff that worked together to make that work, did it with a smile for each other, and always aware of the patients on those beds in the hallway. And this was on one of their busiest days of the year....4th of July weekend. Special thanks to Stacy, Gia and Dr. Bill....took great care of Gigi and got us back on track for our vacation.

I brought my significant other in to be checked out after she started showing signs of possible ruptured cyst or intestinal knot, which she has had before. We showed up around 9 PM. The ER was unusually busy, which was fine. The problem I ran into was that we had been there over two hours before she had her vital signs taken or saw anyone. We never had one specific nurse. It was a different nurse walking in everytime. About 4 hours into our trip she finally had a CAT scan. Upon returning she asked for Tylenol. This took another hour. Again, I understood they were busy, the main issue I had is that we waited 6 hours for them to tell us that she needs to go and be seen by a G.I. If only they could have told us this about three hours in, we could have been out of there and our of their way. I have nothing bad to say about the nurses, they were kind and honestly were trying. Its the way things are run, corporation wise, that poses a problem and the only reason I am rating them low.

I had a tibia fibula fracture. My surgeon had terrible bed side manor. When I found out I was having surgery, all he said to me was "youre having surgery Monday" and walked out. He then botched my surgery. I ended up getting an infection, and the hardware used rusted. I kid you not. My night time nurse right after my surgery as well was awful. She was very mean and acted as if I should have some idea as to what pain meds I needed. Im not a doctor. She gave me an option, and later when I asked for more she lectured me on the poor choice I made earlier. How was I to know? Its her job as a clinician to help me. This was 5 years ago. I still to this day have pain, problems with my mobility, and a great deal of animosity toward the staff who treated me so badly. If youre hurt, dont go here.

I want to give a big shout out to my nurse Alicia, here at Cape Regional Medical Center. Shes definitely gone beyond the call of duty helping me today. From getting me ready for a shower, to helping me get my correct order from the kitchen and everything in between. She even called the doctor for me to get my meal changed from clears to full liquids which include pudding and soup. All while running around, helping her other patients, with a smile on her face. She even took the time to chat with me about horror movies (which I adore) and the "fur babies" in our lives all while keeping me company. Shes an awesome nurse and I can tell, a truly kind human being. Thanks for making my stay here bearable Alicia, you rock!

My mother was discharged after being treated for an infection. She wasnt feeling well when they discharged her but the doctors assured us she was fine. The next morning she couldnt catch her breath so we rushed her to another hospital where she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The second hospital said the congestive heart failure didnt happen over night and that it is sometimes happens after the way her infection was treated at Cape Regional. They flushed her system with fluids at Cape Regional which led to fluid building up in her system. So to make a long story short they discharged an elderly woman who was in heart failure.
