Based on reviews, I cautiously interviewed the practice. They not only welcome, but also encourage in-person interviews. I thought the doctors were upfront, a little opinionated, but generally knowledgeable and accepting of parental decisions. Newborn hospital visits were pleasant and my opinion remained unchanged... Then things went downhill. If it werent for the fact that it cost me $95, I would be laughing at the fuss they made about a newborn loosing 9% of her body weight by day two. -- Which is when they started recommending supplementing with formula, which doesnt seem particularly supportive of breastfeeding. Also, apparently having a toddler at home indicates that I might want to supplement with formula so that my husband can feed the baby at night too. -- They wanted me to come back on day five to make sure she hadnt lost more weight. Day 5 and shes going up, but not at her birth weight yet. So they wanted a third appointment in a week, at which they seemed completely shocked that she could have gained a pound in a week. Duh! Breast milk comes in between days 3-5. We were a textbook case. ... I should mention that they had me weigh her before and after a feeding; seems like their scale had a couple issues because somehow she lost three ounces while breastfeeding! Final two strikes occurred on the third "weight check." They recommended Vit D drops, which I know is standard. However, when I mentioned that the pediatrician for my toddler before we moved to PA said that 15min of sun exposure (or 1hr on a cloudy day) would provide sufficient vit D, I was told that the AAP standards changed in the last 21months. -- They havent changed. I dont like lies. -- And, the big no-no. They wanted me to give my 2wk old the Hep B vaccine so that she could get the second dose at her 1month appointment. The minimum interval between doses 1 and 2 of Hep B is 4wks according to the CDC and the AAP. Doesnt matter your stance on vaccination, a 2wk interval is wrong, unproven, and potentially dangerous. Add $20 for records, which wont be available for 30days. Luckily the new pediatrician is a lot more flexible and will see my daughter for her 1month appointment without the records... Well, hell eventually get them for his files. -- Note their policy is $20 per file with a maximum of $50 per family for copies of records. I had no issues with the front desk. I found the nurses very nice, even the doctors. Twice they let me breastfeed in the room after the appointment. The one very pleasantly handled my daughter throwing up all down her. However, I cannot trust them or their medical knowledge. If something were seriously wrong, I would feel the need to question and second guess them.

My girls recently got swimmers ear. I contacted We care Pediatrics and they called in a script for us, so we didnt have to go into the office. I had mentioned that we also received their cards in the mail that our girls were due for their annual well visit. After I hung up the phone, Danielle their office staff called me back and asked if I would like to schedule the girls well visits. I said if you have an apt today I can move my schedule around and come in today for it, and since we will be there anyway, then the Dr. can see their ears too. Danielle said can you come in at 12:30, I said yes we can and hung up. When I got to the office and they called our name to come to the front desk they charged us our $60 copay. I said why are we being charged a copay for our well visit. They said this isnt a well visit its for the girls ears. I said "No you already called in the medication for their ears earlier, and Danielle called me back to schedule a well visit and told me to come in at 12:30. Then I get told that they cant see the girls today for a well visit. What? They already had apts to see the girls what difference did it make. Even after explaining to Heather what occurred she agreed it was redundant. I requested my $60 back and we left. I have already had it with this office for past situations with rude staff. The staff hardly ever smiles. They cant schedule you for an evening apt until all their mornings and afternoon is filled. Dr. Barnes who owns the practice, doesnt even seem like she likes children. After being with this practice for 5 years, I started looking for a new pediatrician. A few days later, I get a letter in the mail from We Care Pediatrics stating that they can no longer treat my children because I was non compliant with their office procedures. What? When i contacted one of the doctors to find out what the heck this was about, the office staff made up a story saying I was rude and was throwing pens at the staff, What??? They are not only rude, they are also liars. This office is insane. They keep treating their patients the way they do, Its only a matter of time before, they go out of business. I agree with everyone else that posted here, go somewhere else, this Pediatricians office is horrible.

Worst pediatricians office around! We started going to this office 4 years ago when my daughter was 16 months old. At first, I found the hours to be ideal, most of the doctors were just ok, and the location was very convenient. I liked that it was a practice that had more than one doctor, so that if my child had an illness, I didnt have to schedule around ONE doctors schedule. That was then, this is now... They close early every day. Dont even try getting an appointment for a Friday, because they will only be there from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm. The doctors who are left are slow as molasses, act bored when they see your child, and dont offer any helpful information. The receptionists are downright rude. They will not tell you if a doctor is running 2.5 hours behind. Instead, they will tell you that you are the next to be called back and make you wait an additional half an hour to the 2.5 before calling you to WAIT in a room. I called about 2 months ago because my son was complaining that his ear hurt early on a Saturday morning. The office was supposed to have appointments available for situations such as this. The receptionist said that the doctor was about to go home early that day and I should take my son to the ER. Today, I called at 9:00 am (right as the phonelines open) because my daughters eyelid was swollen shut with no visible stye, crust or injury. They said that she couldnt be seen until the afternoon and that I should take her to the ER. Her opthamologist was in surgery, but had said over the phone that her pediatrician should see her immediately and that it could be a simple infection, or it could be something serious like a spider bite. With this in mind, I tried to reason with the receptionist at We Care and was told "Maam, we are a physicians office, not a clinic!" How disrespectful! I have had many more experiences with them like this over the past 2 years. Today, with my daughters eye swollen shut, I found a new pediatrician who took her immediately. I would strongly caution against choosing We Care Pediatrics. They really DONT care, and when it comes to children, that is dangerous!
