Took my dog here for the first time and it was a great experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My first impression was the office is very clean and organized despite the location they are in. Secondly, the wait was very short. Thirdly, I did not fill out any paper work at all. They use a very good EMR system and I was very impressed by it. I work in a doctors office and use EMR systems everyday and this office really put theirs to use to the max. Dr. Thomas and the vet tech was very nice and gentle to my dog. I have taken her to the VCA and she shakes severely every time. But here, she did so well they complimented how well behaved she was. I also like the fact that Dr. Thomas explains what the problem is and what the prognosis is. Then, he gives you a layout of all the treatment options and put them in order from priority first. The tech then comes in and gives you a list of the treatment plans and the prices (again, on their awesome EMR system) and then you just basically pick and choose what you want done. I didnt like the VCA because the vet there ALWAYS try to persuade or convince me to do a million things that are so pricy and unnecessary. Dr. Thomas gave me a rough estimate for a procedure but unfortunately my dog ended up needing more things done. The price ended up being higher than what he expected but he was kind enough to give me a discount to make it more reasonable. Now, most people may think its a scam or theyre trying to appear as if they are giving a discount but working in the medical field myself, I know what its like to run an office and the expenses. So, I appreciated the discount. I did spend quite a big chunk of money but then again, I adopted my dog recently and she was not properly taken cared of as far as her health. It was expected that I would have to spend a lot to get her on track. So far, my dog is doing fantastic and I am very satisfied and happy with the care. They called the next day to check on her progress and have her scheduled for a follow up as well. And…...their hours are great!! I work two jobs, 6 days a week and dont have to take any time off from work to get her seen.

I had been using Banfield - due to the fact that almost 4 years ago, my dog started suffering from what seemed like allergies. For the entire (almost 4 years) time, they would prescribe steroids to help resolve -- for a short period of time -- then right back again, the steroids in addition to 2 Zyrtec a day for the entire time. Didnt help him, just made him sleep and lay -- and still seemed uncomfortable most of the time. In addition to an odor on him and my home. But this is our dog and we love him. Well, I called Banfield a week ago, as Buddy was having a flare up, and knowing me for almost 4 years, I would have thought I would have been taken right away - well I was given an appointment the next day (this was 6:00 pm at night) and I knew that something more serious was wrong, both his eyes looked infected and he was scratching like crazy. ,. At that point, I googled emergency vet and found Caring Hands. The doctor spent more than adequate time with me, the nurses and other staff members were more than accommodating and I will never go anywhere else again. Might I add, that they took me in - that night and today (6 days later) Buddy is better than he has been in 4 years. He is laying comfortably, not tearing his face up, playing and more active than he has been in so long. I was starting to feel as if I was doing an inhumane thing by medicating my pup every single day and not getting any results. Well today, with tears of joy in my eyes, I could not be happier with Caring Hands. Thank You from the bottom of me and my familys hearts.

Im pretty sure I have visited every veterinarian in NE Philadelphia and by far, Caring Hands is my favorite. The doctor is not an alarmist, meaning Ive gone to other vets and they wanted to test for everything and perform all these different procedures that were, in my opinion, often unnecessary. At Caring Hands, I found the doctor to be reassuring and very knowledgeable. I took my cat to two different vets due to a tearing eye and discharge. They both said it was viral and would go away. Well, a year later I go to Caring Hands and the doctor said that his lower eyelid is turned in (which is normal in some older pets) and thats what is causing the tearing. He said it could be fixed by surgery, but he wanted to treat with a medication first and see how the cat does. So I never feel like they have their hand "in my pocket". And Ive never had to wait more than 5 minutes, which for those of us with nervous animals, is extremely important. Pricing is average but fair and they are more than happy to give an estimate. There are just somethings that you have to spend money on and in my opinion, my pets comfort and health are one of those things. So do I recommend Caring Hands??? Absolutely! Oh...did I mention that they have a lot of evening hours??? So no longer do I need to schedule a month in advance or take off from work. Love it.

The staff here are extremely loving and kind to all animals, I witnessed the vet techs sweetly take care of a dog who was obviously stressed out and anxious while in their waiting room as if it was second nature and they were all very personable. I took two of my guinea pigs in to see them one for a neutering and one to check on a skin condition and both were treated with as much love as they receive at home with me. Although my male did not survive his surgery(which is extremely risky on any animal as small as a guinea pig) they still continued to show their compassion towards him by not only helping me take his carrier and things to my car but they were all genuinely upset over the loss of my boy despite only having met him once a week prior to his surgery. I highly recommend them for all animals big and small.

Dr. Thomas examined my American Bulldog because she was scratching at her ears. It was determined that she had a yeast infection in both ears. Dr. Thomas sent me home with ear wash and a cream to treat the infection. Dr. Thomas spent time explaining to me the nature of the condition and how to treat my dog at home. He did not rush the visit and spent all the time necessary to answer all of my questions. His staff was also very caring and professional. I will also be bringing my toy poodle and Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix to Caring Hands for their veterinary visits. We certainly feel the name Caring Hands is very appropriate.
