I took my dog to Bryn Mawr Vet Hospital three times. The first two visits went without a hitch. The third visit, however was a different story altogether. Dr. Cantner handled the visit, which should have been to give my dog several vaccinations. After the three shots and no examination to speak of, he mentioned he would like to perform some blood tests. Without explaining the details of the blood test, he took some blood from my dog. After 1 minute, I was told that the blood test showed my dog has no problem. The visit ended up costing $189. I was charged $37 for the 1-minute blood test. After checking around - I could have gotten the needed vaccinations for about half the price. If you go to Bryn Mawr Veterinary Hospital, be prepared to automatically pay an extra $50 just for bringing your pet for a standard examination fee. They dont actually examine your pet, this is basically a charge for simply stepping in the building. This place is seriously overpriced - however, to add insult to injury when I called to question the non-existant "examination" and corresponding charge both secretary and doctor were extremely rude and the doctor ended up hanging up on me. Go somewhere else where the prices are reasonable and the doctors competent. There are plenty of places around that care about customer service and your pet care, not only the final charge.

I have not yet (happily) needed to use this hospital for a pet emergency, so I cant speak to that. But I think, based on the other comments here, that its hit-or-miss. Its a hospital, so there are a lot of vets, and some of them are bound to be better than others. Fwiw, both of the vets I saw went out of their way to *avoid* charging me for anything beyon what I absolutely needed. Ive been to vets before that were fleecing customers and guilt-tripping them into expensive tests and treatments that you dont need, and my experience here was basically the opposite of that. The vet tech that helped out both times was positively wonderful - I wish I knew his name! The prices at all vets are high, and I know that, so I have never left Bryn Mawr Vet with sticker shock - these are not the highest prices and, while they should be lower, I dont expect them to be lower in this neighborhood. Note that I have cats. I advise against scheduling appointments around 5pm on weekdays, because when the doggie daycare lets out there is simply no way to get any of the people at the counter to pay attention to you for a very long time. They should hire additional desk staff to deal with the crowd at that hour, frankly, and upgrade their very slow computer system, because it is clearly a problem. This is really my only complaint.

I have used Bryn Mawr Vet for many years for quite a number of pets. I trust them. Dr. Gallagher is my favorite because he has a no nonsense practical approach to pet care. Once a Pomeranian I had just adopted broke both her front legs when she sprang from my daughters arms unexpectedly. The emergency vet wanted me to take her to have her legs corrected with wiring for her fine bones at $1800/leg. I had just adopted the dog. I said no and that I would wait until I could see BMV. Dr. Gallagher took over her care and told me that the procedure they recommended might be needed, but that since she is no show dog, if the setting left a little uneveness it would not interfere with her use of her legs. Ultimately she healed just fine with casts, no wiring. I would have had to give her up. Now that said, this was many years ago. Over the years I have experienced more problems with vets who scare my pets, one in particular who has been mentioned in other reviews. I also have had to suck it up for the expensive routine care, so much so, that now I take my pets to low cost clinics. Why spend $ 200 for a $25 service? Still I establish a relationship with them so that if something critical came up, I could go to them and trust the care they give. Anyone have a better idea?

I take my Dog Suri to daycare on a regular basis. She has a great time and is treated very well. Rock who runs the daycare is great with the dogs along with the rest of the staff. I also use the vet side as well for Suri and Dr. Gallagher Deals with her even though she is very challenging at the vet. Dr. Gallagher is fantastic. The front office staff are great too, I am very satisfied with my overall experiences here and recommend it to anyone looking for a full service vet to take care of their family pet. Oh yeah, Boarding is great too. MY Dog is very protective (German Shepherd) and since she is treated like family there, she feels comfortable when I have to leave her. Thanks, Bryn Mawr Vet.

My Boxer had a nasty problem that I wont go into, but I called Bryn Mawr Vet. They got me an appointment that morning and Dr. Cantner explained the problem with my Dog. They had to operate and keep her for a few days, so I asked how much it would cost. They took the time to explain the options and I did not think it was more expensive than my previous vet, especially considering that they bathed her and babysat her for 2 days. They also had a really nice staff, a clean facility, and they called to confirm my follow up appointment. My physician could learn a few things from them.

You will get nickeled & dimed here for everything, and it can get expensive real fast for all the little extras. Its not the worst place out there but make sure you ask for a price list for all the "extras" upfront (sometimes they neglect to mention some fees). Walks, playtime, bedding, updates are all extra fees. Also, do yourself a favor and ask for a tour of the boarding facilities as well. We wont be going here any longer, down graded from 3 stars to 2 stars lost my dogs leash, supposedly gave him a bath and his face was yellow and smelled of urine!

They are a very good vet, however you spend alot of time waiting at the counter to check in and to check out. Also they charge quite a bit for vaccinations. My pet had 3 vaccination and an exam and it cost $247. I think ill be taking my dog to get her vaccinations elsewhere, as i dont have an extra arm and l leg to spare for payment

My puppy Vinny loves going to Doggy Daycare here. The price is very competitive with other local options, and I have peace of mind knowing hes in a vets office if anything were to happen. The staff is always friendly and attentive. When I pick Vinny up, hes happy and tired out from playing all day.

Bryn Mawr Vet Hospital is the absolute best. I go to Dr. Gallagher who is wonderful with my cats. Been going there for over 12 years and have been totally pleased with the services and the courtesy of the staff. I highly recommend Bryn Mawr Vet Hospital. Connie Wallace

My family has always used Bryn Mawr vet and we trust them to treat our animals as if they were their own. I have moved about an hour away but still travel back to Bryn Mawr for my dogs care.
