The vet was nice, seemed to know what he was talking about. I didnt wait too long and was in and out. My only problem was the lack of transparency in pricing the veterinary services. I called in and asked for a checkup fee. $45 for a cat. Ok. Fine. Made an appointment. After about a 5-10 minute checkup, I was charged $65. Why? The ultraviolet light to check for ringworm, $10. Kinda pricey to shine a lamp over a cat for a few seconds, but I requested this service, so Ill swallow it. $5 for cutting my cats nails. First, the vet sounded more like he was doing me a favor by cutting my cats nails and didnt mention anything about charging me. I was surprised because my dogs vet (who is of course a different vet), didnt charge for such a thing for a regular checkup. But the price was the same as what they would charge at a petsmart - I let it go. Last, they added on the price to check for ear mites -$5. The vet looked in my cats ear for 2 seconds... I could have told him that my cat doesnt have ear mites. Also, WHY isnt this price for checking the car (for ear mites), included in the overall $45 fee? Unfortunately, I was so shocked from being bombarded with prices that were not given to me before the vet performed these specialized services (sarcasm), I just walked out of there and promised to not come back. Ill just drive a little farther to go to my dogs vet. This is a nice place, if you dont have other options. Just make sure you demand them up front about the prices before you get in there, and make sure you tell them that you dont want extra things done (even if at the time they perform the services, you assume that theyll be complementary because that makes sense, because they will charge you for every single thing). ::EDIT:: I just received a call from Kim, the office manager for Cottman Animal Hospital. She had read my review, reviewed my chart, and also found a mistake in the pricing and made sure to contact me immediately. She has reimbursed me for the ear mite check fee, and the lamp fee was only $5 as opposed to $10. I think the professionalism displayed at this veterinary clinic is top notch. Of course, I still had a problem that the prices werent announced before-hand, but Im afraid that this is a common practice among many veterinarians. Thanks Cottman Animal Hospital, and Kim, and Dr. Joo. Overall, really good service.

We found Cottman Animal Hospital and Dr. Lee in November when our regular vet said we needed an ultrasound for my 11y/o Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix after he accidentally ingested some staples. Dr. Lee did a wonderful job with the ultrasound and treating his vomiting and diahrea. This past week wed been at an emergency vet out of town for some severe gastrointestinal symptoms. When we got back to town we went straight to Dr. Lee. It was the holidays and the practice wasnt accepting any walk in patients; however, Dr. Lee took us in without hesitation. Dr. Lee was able to locate a foreign body obstruction with another ultrasound and we were able to get surgery at another vet. To me. the most important thing is that Dr. Lee has followed my dogs case and wanted regular updates about his recovery, even though she wasnt the doctor to do his surgery. They take amazing care of your animal(s) and are very affordably priced!

I am a small yorkie breeder and have used Cottman Animal Hospital for several different situations. The staff and the doctors are exceptional. I took my persian cat into the hospital due to crystals and he couldnt urinate at the time. He was near death and the dedication and determination the vets used to safe my cats life is more than I could have ever wanted. They even made sure I knew how to express his urine throughout the next several days until the antibiotics and meds took effect and he was able to urinate himself. He is now healthy again and no more problems. All my animals regardless of whatever situation arises, are well taken care of and their prices are comparable to other good vets in the Phila. area. Very personable staff also.

My mom takes her cats here and loves Dr. Joo. When I got two kittens, I was looking for a vet closer to home, but before I found one, my kitten got an eye infection. I called Dr. Joos office on a Monday morning and they told me to bring her in - at 11am! I was so happy that they were willing to get her an appointment so fast! Their visit fee is less then surrounding vets which is nice. They dont overcharge and care about their clients and their pets. I have a few other medical issues with the kittens and I have called Dr. Joos staff with questions and they have been so patient and kind - they deserve a medal. Will definitely be coming back.

Dr. Joo has cared for 4 of our cats over these many years. The 3 who are no longer alive each lived to be more than 20 years old. We brought Mr. Kitty to see Dr. Joo this past summer - I was beside myself and ready to give up on him. After thorough examination he was put on a regimen that has changed him. He looks like a kitten again, has a healthy appetite and gets around easily. I dont know of another patient - human or animal who has a better doctor.

Gave Cottman Animal Hospital 5 stars, that should tell you what I think of this place. Dr. Joo is my dogs regular vet and I am always pleased with the care my Rocky receives. Once, Rocky got a nasty "hang nail," of course it was bleeding. I showed up 5 minutes after closing. Was taken immediately and treatment was given in a superior manor. I wish I could find a medical doctor who gave such good care.

Dr. Joo and Staff are one of the best in the area. Compassionate , they actually care a lot about the animals. I have taken all our animals and will continue to take them there. Always nervous when seeing a Vet, especially if you are a new client. The ladies at CAH made our visit a pleasant one. My kitten had a upset stomach. they took their time to help out the cat. gave the proper medicine, treatment and love. If you are looking for a vet. This is the place to be. Not expensive. they really care about the animal.

Today I was told by the office, they did not have the ashes of my cat, mimi. I was told again there was a mistake. I do not understand how such a mistake can happen. I am heart broken. I can not believe how thoughtless the office personel were. This was not an easy decision and now Im wondering ,questioning what has happened to him.
