I waited 30 minutes for my appointment and left. I left my number and asked for a paper to give feedback but no techs seemed to care. Thus Im writing this email in hopes that you will read it and improve your business so no one else has to go through my experienceeven though you arent receiving my money, thus I doubt you care. My girlfriend brought our dog to your clinic last night. We chose your clinic because on the phone we were told that upon arrival we could go into the exam room if one was open. We looked forward to this because our dog was adopted and she gets extremely nervous in a space like a vet waiting room. When we arrived we were told we couldnt actually go into an exam room because they were all full. We arrived five minutes early to our 6:20 appointment and were told you were all running on time. We proceeded to wait 30 minutes in the waiting room. The techs did nothing and said nothing to imply any apology for the extreme delay. Another group came in and got their Boston and left all in the time we were sitting there they were utilizing a room we could have been in. they came in well after us 10 minutes into our wait. The only thing the techs would say is that a wait is not ordinary. If a wait is not ordinary at your practice as we were told over and over, perhaps they should try to practice good customer service and update us on the situation and offer our dog a treat or a discounted first appointment in the interest of showing a new client that they arent simply money walking in the door. Or if things run that late dont over book services. This would also increase the quality. It clearly wasnt an emergency because 5 minutes before our scheduled appointment we were told everything was running on time. Then we sat with nothing for 30 minutes while the waiting room crowded. Also, its great to have dogs wait in a clinic for so long transferring germs and killing time in a germ filled tiny space. It is disrespectful to not use your adequate amount of staff to make clients aware of a delay by phone or at least in the waiting room. We were told we were the last appointment. Its not like all of a sudden things were over 30 minutes behind. Instead of briefing us on how long we might wait or comforting our frightened dog the two techs carried on at the counter. How would you feel if you sat at your desk and a client walked in 30 minutes late? Are you telling me if I schedule a vet appointment at your practice I should clear my schedule for the remainder of the evening because it may take an extra 45 minutes to an hour all of a sudden?

This is the worst vet I have ever experienced. Dr. Cangin is far too concerned with making money to notice whats wrong with your animal. I suggested what I thought it was, she got very territorial and egotistical and didnt listen, and prescribed something else. ALL the while trying to talk us into a $2000/mo. allergy treatment. ($1000/mo allergy shots, $500/mo. Rx food that we could ONLY get from her, and a $500 appt with a "pet nutritionist") While she claims she only suggested these as hypothetical scenarios, she kept bringing them up over and over and over and kept saying ok so are you going to get this food or not? I felt like I was at a used car lot. She NEVER called us to ask how the dog was, and WE had to call to inquire about the blood work done. I called back to ask specifically what her thyroid level was, and never heard back. 4 weeks later my dog is sicker than she was before. And lo and behold she has what I originally mentioned to Dr. Cangin (who was too concerned with her ego). I believe Dr. Cangin went with allergies because it was the best for HER wallet. My dog has a severe fungal infection, and the fact that she gave us antibiotics only made it worse. Go to a vet who will LISTEN TO YOU!! Dr. Fischer is better, we saw him once, however our dog acted aggressively and instead of using a muzzle and asking for a vet tech he gave us an antihistamine and shoved us out the door. This infection was missed by both of them, so I no longer trust this practice with my animal. Not only that but the fact that they rated themselves 5 stars to counteract my review is pretty off-putting as is their lack of professionalism by putting my personal info for all to see here. Apparently any kind of confidentiality is not regarded by this practice.

Both of my pups love the staff and are super excited to go into the building. Ive had dogs in the past that hated going to the vet or seemed terrified, and it makes me feel good to know that my dogs are always excited to go there. The staff is very knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. They have always managed to squeeze us in if its an emergency or if we seem very concerned. (Im not over-attentive, my dogs just have bad luck..) More than once they fit us in between other peoples appointments because the vet wanted to see one of my pups right away. If you have an unlucky, always injured or ill pup like mine, this vet goes above and beyond to treat them. The costs of veterinary care in general are a little high for my liking, but prior to choosing this vet we called around and got prices for just the exam part, and every other place was at least $5-$10 higher, which doesnt sound like much but it can mean all of their prices are higher. We decided to invest in pet insurance to help cover some of the costs and have had very few issues with it. Overall, I love this vet practice, and am especially fond of Dr. Fishers knowledge of our pups breeds and his ability to understand our concerns. I never feel stupid when asking him a questions or expressing a concern. I love the fact that the practice is green. Being an environmental professional, this is something that I value tremendously, and I dont feel that their costs are higher because it is green. (The vet is in Shadyside, the area itself is expensive!) Top-notch, friendly staff have always made us feel at home. I cant express enough how much we love this vet!

I have never gone out of my way to post a negative review, but in the interest of helping others to avoid our experience, I am making an exception. Just returned from what is surely our last visit to EEVMC. Our puppy had an ear infection. Upon entering the examination room, Dr. Cangin commented that "she sees we did not have our dog spayed at EEVMC." I explained to her that there were less expensive options around Pittsburgh with great reputations. She replied that "while she could feel stitches in our dogs stomach, we really couldnt be sure that the doctor we had chosen had actually performed the procedure that we had paid for (or inserted the I.D. chip)." She continued to say that EEVMC is 4 times more expensive because they actually do what they are supposed to...I was taken back by the comment and asked for clarification and she repeated that "the other vet could have just sliced our dog open and stitched her back up." Her demeanor is curt and condescending and her behavior is low class and rude...in this particular encounter, I would classify her as just plain untethical. We did not ask her to justify their prices, nor did we ask for her opinion on the other animal hospital we had used. We have patronized this expensive establishment because of its location. Dr. Cangin has convinced me that I am better off driving to one of the many less expensive alternatives in the greater Pittsburgh area.
