North Boros Veterinary Hospital is an animal care facility located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The hospital offers a range of veterinary services and has garnered a variety of opinions from its clientele.
Long-Term Trust: Some customers have been taking their pets to North Boros for decades. They appreciate the immediate attention given to emergency cases and attribute the longevity of their pets to the care received at the hospital.
Knowledgeable Staff: The veterinarians are praised for being insightful and personable. They are commended for explaining procedures in detail and for treating pets as if they were their own.
Convenience: The hospital's walk-in hours and last-minute appointment accommodations are highly valued by pet owners.
Cost Concerns: Some customers feel that the hospital is more interested in making money than in the well-being of the pets. They cite instances of being charged for unnecessary tests and treatments.
Staff Behavior: There are complaints about the staff not being friendly or introducing themselves, which has led to pets becoming nervous and aggressive.
Inconsistent Care: While some have had excellent experiences with the care of their pets, others have had less than satisfactory encounters, especially when it comes to boarding services.
Mixed Staff Reception: The friendliness of the staff is hit or miss according to some reviews. However, they are generally found to be helpful.
Reasonable Pricing: The cost of services is considered to be middle-of-the-road when compared to other veterinary hospitals.
North Boros Veterinary Hospital has a generally high rating but also has its share of criticisms. The reviews indicate that while many have had positive experiences, there are areas where the hospital could improve, particularly in terms of staff behavior and transparency in billing.

These people dont care at all about your pet. They just want to nickel and dime you. Worst veterinary clinic Ive ever been to. The doctors are cold and talk down you. Happy to list tons of possible worst case scenarios of what might be wrong with your pet without offering any sort of actual helpful information. I took my cat in because she was having bladder issues. They wanted me to pay $200 for blood work for heart murmur, (Ive taken this cat to a few different vets, non of whom ever thought this was a life threatening condition) then they gave me medication for my cat which wasnt even for a bladder infection. One was for pain and the other was an anti anxiety pills. Tell me, how do either of those help with a bladder infection? The answer is they dont. Oh and did I mention that when I took my cat to get checked the first time, they did nothing for her and charged me $80 for essentially nothing. If you love your pet and want them to receive the best possible care, go anywhere but here.

We have been taking our beloved pets here for decades. Our basset hound years ago got sick. We called another local vet and they told us she would be fine, wait it out and let them know if anything changes. This was on a Friday night i believe. I thought something was wrong and decided to call North Boros a little later. They requested we bring her in immediately. After some investigation she had a very bad infection in her uterus and needed emergency surgery. It was about to burst. If this would have happened we would have surely lost her, because of North Boros dedication to animals Sammy lived to be 14 years old. 2 years past the max life expectancy for her breed. Our cat went through a similar surgery after she got pregnant not even a year later. After that we have taken all of our animals to this vet. We recently moved but i travel the 45 minutes to take my fur babies to Dr. Blood as she has been so wonderful and they like her so much. Great place to take the ones you love.

Im giving 3 stars only because of my very last experience with them. In the past, they have always taken the best care of my dog. I have a 2 year old rottweiler. The last time I took him there, it was to board him. Considering how good the staff was with him, I had thought it to be no problem. I was mistaken. The nurses that were there that day, I had never seen before. They didnt introduce themselves to myself or my dog. They werent acting in a friendly manor at all. It almost seemed like they didnt care. My dog, already being a little nervous himself, instinctively became agressive towards them. That was not his fault. It was the nurses. My dog is NEVER aggressive towards anyone, so that spoke volumes. Needless to say, my dog was not allowed to be there. Word of advice; train your staff better.

North Boros is the only place wed take our furbabies. For 15+ years we have been clients and weve seen all of the Veterinarians but Dr. Iafe fits us best. We never feel rushed. He explains all procedures, vaccines, new products and lets us ask questions until we understand. I have always felt he treats my pets like I would. He has been through the difficult times with us and treated us with kindness and compassion. The staff is AMAZING! If I call with a problem they get back to me quickly. They do everything they can to help us. Ive had 2 occasions for emergency visits and the staff did everything they could to get us in. I never feel like Im bothering them. They understand our worry and feel our pain. I tell every one to go there.

I usually dont write reviews when it comes to places I have visited or have tried but North Boros Veterinary Hospital made me want to tell everyone about the hands down terrific experience. The front office staff was so kind on the phone, and very helpful. I was able to have my dog seen same day as a new patient to there practice and couldnt be happier with my choice. The Physicians on staff are insightful, personable, and you can tell that they throughly enjoy helping your pet. I wouldnt go anywhere else going forward and would recommend this place to anyone who has animals. GREAT ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!

I would recommend North Boros to everyone! They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. We always have a positive experience here. The walk-in hours are very convenient and they try to accommodate you if you need a last minute appointment. Last week, we had to say goodbye to my cat after 14 years. Dr. Iafe met with us last minute and the entire staff was very sympathetic and comforting during this time. When we went back the next day to pick up her ashes, they also surprised us by giving us a lovely clay paw print. Bottom line is - they are the best and treat pets like family!

Dr. Bollens III and the entire staff at North Boros are both professional and compassionate, and have always gone above and beyond in addressing any questions or concerns Ive had, whether in person or by phone. They really do care about your pets here, and, more importantly, will treat them as if theyre their own (this alone is why I wouldnt trust my furry kids with anyone else - the fantastic doctors and staff are just an added bonus). Ive lived all over this country, and I can tell you that this veterinary hospital really is exceptional.

I cannot say enough good things about the Doctors and the staff at North Borors. On multiple occasions, they have fit my pets into their schedule at the last minute. The doctors have always been extremely pleasant, explain things well, and seem to genuinely care for the animals. They also call you to see how your pet is doing and return your calls in a timely manner. The front desk staff is also always very nice and helpful. The walk in morning hours are also a plus. I would recommend this practice to anyone!

North Boros Veterinary Hospital cannot be beat. Their doctors are absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable and loving toward pets and people. Staff is friendly and go out of the way to calm parents down while their children(pets) are being taken care of. And if you are planning to go on a vacation and need a place to board your children(pets) please consider this facility. I have been boarding by children(pets) here for years and the are very loving.

Dr. Bollens literally saved our husky Sateles life after she ate a piece of string. It was going to be 4000 dollars or more to have the emergency surgery at the ER vet and North Boros got us in immediately for her to have the surgery for much less money! Dr. Volleys called me everyday for the week after our girl had surgery to check on her. We would recommend this facility to anyone! Thank you thank you for saving our girl!

Ive taken my cat here a couple of times, and have loved the vet I saw both times (Melanie). Friendly, helpful, informative - everything you could want in a vet. I appreciate the email communitaction. The friendliness of the staff is hit or miss, but theyre generally helpful. Prices seem reasonable, about middle of the road compared to other vets Ive used.
