This is a response from Middle Road Animal Clinic regarding the review by Ashley M: On Saturday, February 8, 2014, our regular veterinarian was on vacation and in his place we secured the professional services of a veterinarian through a very reputable and leading veterinary personnel service in the tri-state area. On 2/8/14, this pet was presented at our office by owner and other relatives. Per owner, the pet had been limping since earlier in the week. Per owner the pet was outside and when he came in, she noticed he was limping. Please note that the injury occurred early in the week and the owner waited days (this was Saturday) before having the pet examined by a veterinarian. The pet had to be carried into our office by the veterinarian because he could not walk. Upon intake, the owner indicated she had no medical history as the dog was a stray that she took in a year ago and was not seen by a vet in the time that she owned him. This was the first time this pet was seen in our office. Our technician noted the pet’s abdomen was so distended it was almost touching the floor; when asked how long it has been this way, the owner replied for nearly a year. Upon examination, the doctor noted the pet was obese with severe ascites. Per the doctor, the abdomen was so distended the pet could not walk. The doctor noted severe dental disease. The doctor noted the pet’s breathing as “very labored.” The left elbow was very painful and the pet cried out in pain when pressure was applied, indicating a possible fracture or deep bruise caused by a fall. Due to the very poor health and condition this pet presented in, the doctor advised the owner that the dog had multiple health issues, which could possibly include heart and/or liver disease. The doctor recommended blood-work and x-rays, the owner refused any diagnostics. The doctor then recommended euthanasia, especially given the character of the breathing. The owner declined. The doctor prescribed pain medication as requested by the owner. On the day in question, three other pets were euthanized (which is incredibly rare). Two were dogs. Both were old (13 & 14) and both were very sick. Their owner’s requested euthanasia because of the severe decline in their health and lack of quality of life. The third was a cat, again, the request was made by the owner.

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!!!! I HAD A FAMILY MEMBER TAKE MY DOG HERE BECASUE HE HAD HURT HIS LEG...THE "DOCTOR" SAYS THAT HES IN CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND THAT HIS KIDNEYS AND LIVER ARE NOT WORKING BUT YET NEVER DID ANY SORT OF TESTING ON HIM AT ALL AND THEN AFTER I HAD CALLED THEM TO GIVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND, THEY TOLD ME THAT JUST BY LOOKING AT HIM THATS HOW THEY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. I DIDNT KNOW JUST BY LOOKING AT A PERSON/PET WHO IS ILL YOU COULD TELL EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. THIS PLACE MISDIAGNOSIS!! THEY WANTED TO PUT HIM DOWN THAT DAY--NOT ONLY HIM BUT THEY HAD ALSO PUT 3 OTHER DOGS DOWN WITHIN 45 MINUTES THAT DAY. I FEEL HORRIBLE FOR THE FAMILIES OF THOSE PETS BECAUSE WHO TRULY KNOWS IF THEY WERE EVEN SICK. THE "DOCTOR" SAYS THAT HE WOULD HAVE 10 DAYS TO LIVE...LITTLE DID THEY KNOW MY DOG IS PERFECTLY FINE AND COULDNT BE BETTER. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I THINK THEIR DOCTORS NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN THE CORRECT WAY TO DIAGNOSE AN ANIMAL. PLEASE , PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED PET ONES HERE!! YOU WILL BE SORRY AND DEVASTATED AS WAS MY FAMILY AT FIRST FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON!

I have taken my animals to Dr. Hull for over thirteen years - ten different cats during that time frame, and wouldnt trust anyone else to be their primary vet. He is smart as hell, kind, funny, and he will have an honest, frank discussion with you about what he would recommend. He helped me get a kitty through three years of renal failure, teaching me to give her sub-cutaneous fluids. He picked up on a heart murmur in a seven year-old kitty that was new to me, had been taken to a vet on a regular basis with her previous owner, with no mention of said murmur. He referred me to a specialist, and it turned out she had heart disease that needed to be treated for the rest of her (very long) life. So pay no attention to the two negative reviews. They are misguided and simply wrong. I understand that people get emotional about their animals and want to blame the veterinarian for not saving them or when things dont go as they wish - but Dr. Hull is wonderful. I would not trust anyone else with my fur babies health and I dont know what I will do if he ever retires.

I took my new cat to Dr. Hull for ear mites and lumps. He looked at the lumps and just kept telling me he had no idea what they were, then he looked in his ears and said he did have ear mites and prescribed Tresderm to be put into ears every day for a few weeks. He also said I should treat my other two cats with this. I purchased two bottles at $24 each and started treatment. After a week and a half I took the cat to another vet who told me the cat still had ear mties. When I told him what I was using he said that it was not for ear mites but for fungal infections and the new vet gave me meds that cost $15 and was to be given once a week for two weeks. When I came home I looked up tresaderm on the internet and in fact, it is for treatment of fungal infections, no where could I find anything that said to use tresaderm for ear mites. Obviously, Dr. Hull needs to go back to school. I would caution anyone who has a sick cat not to go to middle road animal clinic. It may be fine for yearly shots but not for an ill animal

My wife and I have taken my Boxer dog (4 years old) to MRAC since we moved to Shaler 3 years ago. The staff is very professional and you can tell they truly love the animals they care for. My dog loves the workers in the front of the office and it truly helps make the experience much more relaxing. Moose (my dog) recently had to have some surgery to his mouth and paw and it was handled without an issue - communication from MRAC was great. This is a well run clinic - with people that really care - and who defintely arent in it "just for the money". I cannot recommend highly enough the MRAC for thoughtful and friendly animal care.
