This vet is terrible! I moved here weary about going to a new vet. Well, my intuitions were VERY correct! This vet is not a good place to take your animals. Its not affordable, the service is terrible, and when I had a problem, I called and tried to find out why I had been overcharged, and the service had been so poor, as well as them racking up these charges without our permission. Kate, hung up on me after arguing with me and dancing around every question I asked without EVER answering it! Talk about unprofessional. For a while, I thought maybe I AM wrong, maybe its just a different transition into moving. I ignored my gut instinct and went back to get some flea meds for my dog. The lady at the desk accidently charged me $1,120.00 for his meds. Luckily we caught it, and she then charged me $112.00 for his meds, which in my opinion is still rediculously high and NOT what Im used to paying AT ALL! I sucked it up, and went home and looked on my accounts. There was a lack of $1,000 plus in my account. Although Im getting this problem handled, when I called they put me on the phone with none other than Kate once again. Ugh. She was argumentative and rude AGAIN! surprise surprise. What a shock. She basically told me that I needed to handle it, and I got really quiet on the phone, and once again stood up for myself. I told her that I she needed to send the papers in, or talk the lady at my bank because thats actually what my bank told me to do. They told me to get her to call them. I was supposing for some legal reasons. She called me two more times saying she got an automated voice recording, and couldnt talk to anyone.( I told her she needed to handle it because thats what I was told have done.) You know, the annoying ones that every business has these days instead of people??...the ones that I had to sit through because of their mess up?! The ones my bank told me she needed to sit through to fix my issue that they messed up!! You know, the problem is that if this was something that had been an issue, after I had gone their for a year, and had never happened before I wouldnt be this upset, I wouldnt be writing this. But Ive only been here twice and both times been overcharged, been argued with, hung up on, and had to deal with a rude vet assistant, and a nonexistent vet that never solves my issues. I wont be coming back here and hopefully, you guys will read this and decide not to come back, or come at all. Dr. McCullers staff is clearly not paying attention and not caring of who is keeping their mortgages paid, and their light bills paid. Im quite concerned about where Im going to go now, my roommate told me there was a really good vet in West Ashley near Bessingers BBQ. Also, there was a review on here, that said "Ohleant", (not sure if thats the right spelling) is a good place that got her needs met. Im not surprised by some of the rude things being said to customers on these reviews, because my experience has been more than horrendous. Also, they ARE charging people for random things hence the ten year clients that arent coming back. Thats what Kate and my converstaion was about the first issue I had, and all she did was dance around the questions and hang up on me!!! They will charge fees that are VERY questionable. Dont let Kate/Dr. McCullers treat you this way. Go elsewhere.

After my last visit to this vet, in August, they called an ex, a violent criminal against whom i have a restraining order, to give test results, and also gave him personal information about me and my family. A simple removal of a number from records from over a year ago was not performed, and it is most troubling that it was blown off as an inconsequential error. The call, possibly, but giving personal information once they knew they called the wrong number is just not cool. They were made very aware of how necessary it was that he be removed from the records in 2015, and had assured me several times that the records were edited. I have only met the vet once in three years. My smaller dog is traumatized from her last visit, I have never seen a simple blood sample draw become a Benny Hill level event until then. I have yet to be mailed my money from a test that they could not perform, because there was not enough blood after the bungled blood draw. I should have gone elsewhere a year ago, and my own laziness has cost me.

Dr. Chavis and her staff were the only people in town we found to take our concerns seriously and treat them as such. We have quite the itchy dog and as it turns out quite the allergic dog. Dr. Chavis was quick to diagnosis this however we had to proceed with standard protocol of what an allergic dog is. Sure enough it was environmental allergies after all, (not fleas like a vet down the road told us numerous times before and charged us hundreds of dollars for). If you want a caring Vet and also an extremely knowledgeable one I would recommend you see James Island Veterinary Hospital

I brought my kitty to James Island Veterinary Hospital as Hurricane Matthew was headed towards town. My regular vet was closed, and bad cat mommy that I am I had let his shots lapse and was desperate to update them before we evacuated so that I could board him when we got out of harms way. They graciously fit me into the schedule before they closed early themselves for the storm. I was frazzled, and my cat was less than pleased to be there. They were great with both of us. I think weve found a new regular vet!

This morning we had to have our daughters 15 year old doggie put down. Sandy and Wendy were both very helpful and then Mason carried buddy in on the gurney for us. Dr Evans came in and explained the process and answered questions. I could not have asked for nicer and more accommodating personnel. They were so understanding. Dr McCullers has been "Christmas" doctor for 15 years and I have always trusted his good judgment and professionalism. I would highly recommend this staff without any hesitation.

Mitch & the staff at JI Vet Hospital are all angels. My family has taken pets there for 30 years and my toy poodle was a patient of his for 17 years. He could NOT have taken better care of her or me! The staff put up with an over-protective mother many times and never made me feel like I was wasting their time! I look forward to many more years with them as they take care of our new baby, Marcus. Could not ask for a more patient and compassionate staff. Love them all!!

The care and kindness demonstrated by the professional and support staff at JI Vet Hospital were absolutely first-class. We recently faced the unhappy decisions that come with an aging dog. The consideration and compassion we received at this place helped us get through it. They were always willing to accommodate us in emergencies and were unremittingly sweet to our old friend. I would not hesitate to recommend the practice.

Expensive, but very good at what they do. I have been going here for a long time. I was sad that I had to move...because the one closest to us now is very rude and did not want our business. Anyway...JI Vet Hospital has the latest in all technologies, has a convenient location for James Islanders, are very nice, friendly, and good all around. Ive never had a problem here! Professional all around.
