I will preface this review by saying I made SEVERAL ATTEMPTS to reach out to Dr. Sheridan with my concerns, which were roundly ignored and never returned. I adopted my 11 month old boxer in December 2015 and brought him to Dr. Sheridan for a new puppy exam, first visit was fine. Every time Ive been there since then has been one sales pitch after another and very little actual veterinary assistance. I brought him in in January because he seemed to have an allergy issue. The solution Dr. Sheridan proposed was to switch his food from a grain-free with 6 ingredients to the Holistic Select his office is plastered with. The Holistic Select , which is a fine brand, has well over 25+ ingredients which are mostly chicken or fish meal and all kinds of enzymes. It has no recommendations related to allergies, it simply costs twice as much as the food he was on and would have increased the possibilities of allergice reaction. I continued with my original food and found an allergy supplement which works fine. Youd think a vet might recommend that first, Example #1 of dishonesty. I also noticed my dogs eyes were red, which was attributed to a "possible eye infection" but no exam was conducted or tests run. I was given a $35 tube of ointment, price was not given until it was time to go and when I brought him in 3 weeks later with his eyes still red all of a sudden it dawned on him that maybe hes pulling on the leash and causing that. I went and bought a $25 harness and it cleared right up but of course I still have that useless ointment. Example #2 After this I still decided to stick with Dr. Sheridan, against my own better judgment because Hendrix (my dog) seems to enjoy going there. He recently had a nasty bout with diarrhea that lasted a couple weeks so I took him back in for advice on what to do. It was discovered thru a fecal sample that he has hookworms and would need treatment. SALES MODE ACTIVATED!!!! He then proceeded to tell me how I should buy any medicine from him because he has to put his 2 daughters thru school, ignoring the fact that Im trying to determine the best course of action for my dog who has parasites living inside him. I finally made a decision on treatment after filtering out all the BS offered and took him home only to deal with diarrhea for another whole week. When I called Dr. Sheridan back to determine why this issue wasnt cleared up we were again pitched more medicine that would fix the problem within 48 hours. Apparently he didnt think to mention this during the first visit. 3 days later after more diarrhea my girlfriend called him back yet again and it was suggested we bring him in overnight for "observation." This is a Friday night and we were told it would be $18 for them to watch him overnight because they couldnt figure this out in my initial 45 min visit. Well 3 hours later, after wed dropped him off already, we called back to bring his medicine and now theyre going to be closed Saturday and its $20/night to board so we had to pay $60 to have him observed. I picked him up Monday evening and for my money I got a chart that says he had a somewhat firm stool Sunday. Yes, I PAID $60 AT A VETERINARIANS SUGGESTION FOR SOMEONE TO WALK MY DOG AND LOOK AT HIS POOP, THAT IS THEIR DEFINITION OF OBSERVATION. When I picked him up of course Dr. Sheridan had already gone home so I calmly requested a call back to discuss what the point was in him recommending they keep him if thats all they were going to do. My number was taken and I was told he would call me back Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday afternoon came and went, I called back at 5:15 pm to ask if he had received the message, I was told hed taken it home and would call me from his home. Tuesday evening came and went with no phone call. Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm I again called for Dr. Sheridan, once my voice and number were recognized he was all of a sudden too busy and his wife wanted to know how she could help. This man cares nothing about your pets well-being, he just wants to line his pockets. Stay away!!!!

I wanted to throw in my two cents about FRAH. Fifteen years ago (so 2001) I was a college student and had my first cat as an adult. After treating her for fleas one morning, I went off to school and work. When I returned home around 5pm, I found her lying in a pool of her own vomit. She had been vomiting all day and was severely dehydrated. I began calling vets in hopes that someone was still open. I finally landed on Folly Road Animal Hospital and I raced my cat over. The Dr quickly figured out that she had ingested the flea meds. I had striped them down her back as the package indicated. He explained that I should never use those types of flea meds. It was the Hartz Brand which I later discovered was in multiple lawsuits for poisoning several hundred animals with their products. Anyhoo, the Dr was able to get fluids into my cat and give her bath. He recommended Frontline products to me (which I used for years after) and they kept my baby for the weekend so they could monitor her. He told me that she was so dehydrated that she would have started seizing so Dr Sheridan saved my cats life. Fifteen years later, my cat is still with me and at very least, she is alive because of the care she received at FRAH. I dont know what has happened in intervening years but my experience was excellent.

I use FRAH for boarding. Always a pleasant staff and very accommodating. They always leave me feeling like my dog is a rock star. They called m on vacation when he was shaking due to the July 4 fireworks and suggested a sedative. I didnt like the original recommendation; spoke to the doctor and we went with an oral paste. I liked that he was open to considering alternatives and there was no issue with me rejecting the original suggestion. I genuinely feel that they have my dogs best interests in mind. I unfortunately had to try another boarding facility in N. Charleston due to the owners of FRAH being out of town during one of our vacations. It was a complete nightmare; the owner was judgmental, ignorant and pompous. FRAH has earned my trust and loyalty. You dont know what you have until you try someplace else.

We went to get our dog his rabies and DHLPPC vaccine. They gave him several other shots we did not ask for as well as a heart worm test and charged us with an "extended exam". During this so called extended exam the doctor basically just tried to sell us stuff the whole time and loved telling us how hard it is to put his two daughters through collage.. He was not pay attention to what he was doing while he was giving us the complementary nail clipping and he clipped my dogs nails way to short and they were all bleeding. He then said he would put something on them to stop the bleeding and never did and my dog got blood all over the seats of my car which Im trying to sell.
