Giving this business one star is WAY too generous! The company runs quite a racket. I made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. They spent over an hour determining a dental plan. They refuse to give me a standard cleaning until I completed the dental treatment plan they felt I needed. When I arrived, it was late afternoon so I wanted to brush my teeth. I used a new toothbrush. I brushed way to hard or the bristles were hard. I explained to them that my mouth was sore because I just brushed with a hard toothbrush and that I normally use the rechargeable Oral B brush. The hygienist labeled me with gingivitis because my gums were swollen. I explained again that I just brushed and used a harder than normal toothbrush. She dismissed that. Set me up on treatment plan with deep cleaning. She said that I had to that before they would clean my teeth. So three visits until my first cleaning. I dont think so. I have a say on what treatments I will have done and not have done. They did the same to my husband. He went in for a cleaning, they didnt clean, then they set him up on a treatment plan. $5,500 later he would get his normal teeth cleaning. He does need a crown and they refuse to put one on until he has 8 visits completing deep cleaning. Now I am not sure, but last I looked, we live in the USA. We have a voice to any medical treatments, and can refuse treatments. I checked with my insurance. We dont have to have any treatments we dont want. Our teeth and gums dont have to be certain standards in order for insurance to cover the visit. Stay away from Aspen Dental. Oh, they also upgraded all the visits to "name brand" in order to charge more. They were not happy when I requested a detailed printout of each charge and visit. They slipped a lot of unnecessary charges. Consumer Beware! I am also filing a complaint with the BBB and Consumer Affairs. People need to know the shady practices of this office. Just for the record. I got two additional opinions. I will be choosing one of them for my dental needs. I only chose Aspen because my current, private insurance available to me only had one dentist to choose from. I have cancelled my dental coverage effective today. And as for the review left by Aaron Lindorfer, Aspen will not work with you on a treatment plan. You do what they say. They wont schedule anything outside of their recommendations and timeline. They should first develop a relationship with you and see you a few times before they "LOCK" you into a treatment plan. The first visit should not be used as a concrete, die hard, determination of your dental history.

So lets address the bad aspects from other reviewers. They will recommend a course of treatment and you are free to decline. However be aware that any doctor will be weary of treating an uncooperative patient. Will they push you into unnecessary work? Depends on your definition of unnecessary. If you think you know more than the doctor than chances are good you will think that a recommended treatment is unnecessary but they are a corporate location, they get paid the same no matter what you choose to do, so keep that in mind. The staff have been incredibly pleasant to work with. I hadnt seen a dentist in over a decade and knew I needed a lot of work done. The office staff have been friendly and the tech staff have been incredibly polite. I was unable to afford all the work necessary and had to supplement their treatment with a visit to another clinic. They were more than happy to work around this minor issue and even checked with me after visits to the other clinic to make sure everything went well. I have seen two of their doctors, both of whom have proven both knowledgeable and professional. I have an appointment schedule with their root canal specialist later this month and will update this review after that visit to reflect my thoughts of that experience. The on site denture lab makes this process a great deal more bearable. Ive had to be fitted with a partial denture to replace all the molars on my lower jaw. They technicians know their stuff and have been more than willing to address all my concerns. Proper denture geometry is a complicated subject to grasp, and I am far from an expert on the subject. However these techs are experts and explained everything about how my new dentures should work and feel. Im still wearing my temporary denture, which has been adjusted a few time as my gums have healed from the extractions. The staff have been pleasant and patient with me, explaining every step of the process.

After hearing great things about Aspen, I decided to go there myself in February. I was consulted and set up with a price and plan of action per say. the next day I came in with a check for nearly 7 thousand dollars to get things going. I had a deep clean and was told my extractions were scheduled next. A month after not hearing from them, I called to set it up myself. Using just the novacane was not going to work for me so after an attempt at that, we decided to go with sedation. Now, I had filled out my medical history forms on my first visit and have been following the schedule of their oral surgeon for almost a month and a half. My appointment for surgery was yesterday. The oral surgeon was just then having a look at my medical history and informed me that I was not a candidate for sedation. I have had massive amounts of anxiety from fear of the dentist and having to talk myself into getting ready to have this procedure done 3 times, Im have reached my limit. I am going to collect all the money from the services that I have paid for and take my business elsewhere as I just do not have the confidence I used to with this office. Terrible. My brother had also been consulted by them and after a horrible abscess, he was in the emergency room. He told the ER doctor he was going to be taken care of at Aspen, the doctor told him that they are so expensive compared to other offices since theyve done so well with the franchise and offered him information on other dentists. He had his teeth taken out the next day and is on his 3rd month of healing, months later, I still have mine. I should have taken his path. I went to dental excellence and got my extractions, 3, not 9 like aspen was trying to do. Crowns on the rest of my less than presentable teeth. For your own sake, get a second opinion before letting aspen work on your mouth before letting your time and money get wasted like I did.

This was the worst experience I have had at a dental office. I scheduled a first time appointment and cleaning since I had a tooth that was bothering me. I came in 15 minutes prior to my appointment, knowing I was a new patient. I waited for a while, and got called back for x-rays. The lady put the plastic piece in and it was cutting my mouth. I informed her to which she responded "I know. I dont like these things either" and continued. After that I was put in a room and waited even longer. I arrived at 7:30 and it was now almost 9. The dentist comes back and talks to the monitor instead of me, the patient. I told him I could not hear him. His response "I know. I was just telling you some good news. You have all your wisdom teeth and no cavities. Before even looking in my mouth. Then when he did look he said he didnt see anything on my tooth that was irritating me, so we cant do anything. He then said I had two cavities elsewhere. I got taken out of that room into a waiting room where I got fed up at nearly ten and decided I could not wait, because I have class. I tell the front desk only to have her tell me I was not scheduled for a cleaning anyway. I understand things get busy and all but that was ridiculous. The least they could do is get the reason for the appointment right. Ill be finding another dentist.
