All the other reviewers seemed to have great experiences with Dr. Udell, but not me. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year by the time I made an appointment to see Dr. Udell as my new OBGYN (July 2011). I had used a Clearblue Fertility monitor for a few months to track my ovulation. Upon my first visit and talking with her I mentioned that my luteal phase was only 12 days long (instead of the normal 14) Dr. Udell laughed at me, told me she "appreciated my research on the subject", but that I was not a doctor and didnt know what I was talking about. She told me that the "Luteal phase is the first half of your menstrual cycle, between when you start your period and when you ovulate." NO, Dr. Udell, it is not! Anyone can look this information up... you luteal phase is the time between ovulation and the start of your next period. The first half of your cycle is the follicular phase... Am I really trying to tell a doctor this? Aside from not knowing what a luteal phase is, Dr. Udell insisted that regardless it was not possible for me to have less than 14 days between my ovulation and next menstrual cycle. Once again, if you dont believe me research this... it happens all the time, its called luteal phase defect. Aside from that, I asked Dr. Udell if I could have a referral (prescription) to receive a mammogram. (The previous year I had a different OBGYN, but then we moved to Arlington, which is why I decided to see Dr. Udell) The previous year my OBGYN had found a lump in my left breast and sent me for an ultrasound. From there, Solis Womens did a biopsy and found it to be "non-cancerous, but something that should be watched". My paternal grandmother died of breast cancer at 32 years old. So when asking for a referral for a mammogram I told Dr. Udell all of this. She once again laughed at me and told me, "Youre 24 years old; youre way too young to be having mammograms. Just do a self-breast exam every month and youll be fine!" Fast forward to March 2012... After begging she finally referred me out for a diagnostic test to see if my fallopian tubes were blocked. This was after she insisted my husband have a semen analysis, which we gladly did, but then tried to say that I didnt need the diagnostic even though my husbands results were outstanding. I had the diagnostic, and my tubes were clear. My last conversation with Dr. Udells office was as follows, Nurse: "Dr. Udell said that your husbands results were fine, and your results were fine. She doesnt know what else to tell you. Just keep trying." Me: "She cant refer me to a fertility specialist." Nurse: "She said youre young, just keep trying." At this point in time we have been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years; I have a history of endometriosis, with heavy and painful periods. Just yesterday I had my yearly appointment with my new OBGYN, Dr. Phillips at Matlock OBGYN when I told him of my experience with Dr. Udell he couldnt believe it. He was absolutely flabbergasted. Maybe Dr. Udell is a good doctor if your situation is completely normal and you dont veer off the beaten path even the slightest. But she seems to be a bit misinformed, and very set in her ways. This is fine, to each their own. I just wanted people to know of my experience.

I started going to Dr. Udell seven years ago, and even continued going to her when I moved to Chicago for three years. Shed make my yearly appointments as quick and hastle-free as she could, and was sensitive to my fears. When I found out I was pregnant I was at my PCP and was sent to the ER because they thought I had a ectopic pregnancy. I kept telling the ER to call Dr. Udell and they started prepping me for immediate surgery. Dr. Udell came and literally stopped everything and advocated for me to the ER staff--she was furious at how I was treated and did not think I needed surgery, but that we should wait to confirm if the baby would make it or not. What a miracle--my daughter was born to Dr. Udell a short eight months later. She gave me ultrasounds every two weeks my first trimester to give me peace of mind that she was okay. She addressed all my concerns, meeting with me for as long as possible, during all my visits. She came to the hospital at 2am after my water breaking and supported me through my unmedicated, vaginal birth, even though she thought I was crazy for wanting it! There is no one else I trust for my care more than her.

Dont hesitate, Dr Udell will be the best OBGYN you will ever find. I started seeing for annual checkups, quick and easy. She is very easy to talk to and will listen to your comments and suggestions. She was my doctor during my pregnancy and it couldnt have been any better. Consultations are very frequently (which is great for a first-time mom) and they are not worthless, you get a good view of the baby and you wont feel it was just a waste of time. At the hospital, she was excellent. I had a C-section and the scar is very tiny. Post-partum consultations are very throughout. Her staff is great, they will learn your name and your babys. Dr Udell is the doctor your mom once told you to find.

I absolutely LOVE this office! Dr. Udell is very friendly without being awkward and Ive been going to her exclusively for almost ten years. Ive had some scares in the past and even though she wasnt there, her nurses and staff were just as willing to help and were just as concerned and informative as she is. I would recommend her to everyone in search of a great OBGYN. Even if I moved far away I would still want to return to her every year for my check up and she is really the only doctor Ive ever trusted. Like another reviewer said, she even helped out with some issues that werent even her specialty, and would arrange for tests and referrals to another expert.

Called - was denied a visit until i was at 8 weeks- Although i was feeling horrible and had to go see a primary care doctor. Upon appointment, i Was not greeted upon arrival - everyone was busy at the front desk - and when i asked if they do not greet new patients, the doc herself came up and asked me to leave! If they cannot deal with first time pregnant ladies (that might be emotional/or just wanted good service for the amount of $$$ they charge)- this is NOT the place for you - THEY do not care - Especially the doctor!

I started using Dr. Udell in 2005. Two pregnancies and yearly check up. I have refered her to everyone I know. She is the best ever. Very kind and treats you like you are her only patient. I had a few issues that came up that were not her specialty. She tested me and directed me to what kind of doctor I needed to see next. She took the time to test my blood and find out what was going on. She cares about all of her patients. You will not find this anywhere else in DFW.

Dr. Udell has delivered my 3 children, all beautiful and healthy, even with high risk pregnancies. She has been indispensable when it comes to the effective care of my overall health and has been a great ally as I face complicating female health issues including a cervical cancer scare and resulting outpatient surgery. She is the absolute best, and is now accepting new patients again. So get her while that lasts, as shes too good to accept new patients all the time!!! :)
