(long) Brought my Animal in with the assumption she may have been poisoned by flee spray. We had called first and they knew we were on our why and for what. Upon arrival, hardly in the door, the nurse met us in the lobby scooped up my dog and took her in back. After checking in, the Dr met me in the exam room and very politely started asking me question on how I was negligent with my animal and the flee spray. “… Did the bottle tell you to put that much on the dog ….?”. After a brief discussion defending myself, she referred me to animal poison control of which I called while in the exam room. After almost being laughed at by the experts on the other line, they explained I would have needed to “force my dog to drink the entire bottle” to have an effect. I gave the Dr. the case number, she called and they back briefed her, of which she parroted back to me. After this conclusion the Dr. brought my dog back to me and THEN began to actually give her an examination. Inspecting my dogs spin, the Dr. clearly found a disk that had slipped and was causing the dog pain. My dog is an elderly dog with hind quarter muscle atrophied due in part by advanced stage post op terminal lounge cancer, this information of which I had to force on the Dr. The Dr. stated “a pinched nerve is very very rare”. We supplied x-rays from our Vet and the Dr was able to confirm the vertebra with the problem. After receiving pain medication, just shy of $400 for the ER ethics consult, $60 for the informative poison control consult, providing my own x-rays, and an excuse that they were busy (with no one in the waiting room except us at 2 am) we were on our way. Price would have been fine, if the service provided was worth it. To sum up: We were greeted at the door as if we had committed animal abuse and the nurse couldn’t get the animal in the back fast enough (understandable), the Dr. line of questioning was clear that she assumed I had abused my animal out of negligence (understandable), we were referred to an outside source before the Dr had ever even performed any type of neurological examination to the animal (not understandable), it wasn’t until after all judgment was passed did the Dr finally ask relevant questions and give my dog a proper neurological exam that actually discovered the problem within minutes (not understandable). The judging and game playing took almost 2 hours, the actual examination and discharge with pain meds took 30 mins. I am sure all of this has some sort of “procedural” check list that everyone will claim was strictly followed, and I am sure the Dr. is very compassionate and cares greatly for what she does, she is simply a green Dr and it shows with the lack of efficiency and was confirmed by the dates of her credentials hung on the wall. Given the circumstance I may have been judgmental upon first impression as well, but her judgment on me clearly impeded her ability to keep a clear mind with assessing my animal. My wife and I were simply over cautious animal owners who had never used flee products in the past, did not understand what was happening to our animal and guessed at the problem making the most conservative decision we could. After everything had transpired and looking back, we clearly realized the attending Dr did exactly the same thing we had done, guessed with minimal examination/information, but my wife and I are not Dr.s …... I would love to review the exam room cam and watch everything transpire as a spectator.

They provide great care for the pets, and its good that they are open when others are closed, but the fact that they close at 8AM on weekdays means you have to move your pet elsewhere, in some cases before its ready to be moved. They are good about forwarding all information to the place you are taking your baby. After all that, my pet recovered well from a very serious life threatening issue, I have to give thanks to the surgery and care the Pet Center provided. I have used them three times now and feel the care is excellent, and the fact that there are usually only a few patients at any one time, means you get more dedicated care, especially late into the night. I rated only four stars because of two negative issues, first, the issue of closing at 8AM on weekdays. In one of my issues, I had to get up after sleeping only two hours following a very stressful late night and go move "my baby" when I felt she shouldnt be moved. But they are open all weekend from Friday evening till Monday morning and all day on holidays. Mainly, the lowered rating is because of the cost of using this facility. It is costly, but when you really need them, and you care about your sic pet, and think about the fact that they are there when everybody else is closed, the cost doesnt become such a bad thing. They probably have to charge the rates in order to stay in business with at least three people there during all open hours. If you have a really good regular vet and your pet can hold off till regular veterinarians open in the morning, then it will probably cost less to wait. My most recent issue occurred on (when else) Friday evening, so i had the advantage of this facility being open for the next 56 hours and was able to have really good continuity with my pets care

I feel the procedure performed on my pet was very good. My pet had never experienced the condition he suffered, but believe the emergency clinic did a real good job. My dog is now 5 days into recovery and doing better. Only reason I would not recommend anyone or return to this clinic is because of the variable price quote I was given. The doctor examined my dog and stated, "Everything would cost $500-600." As soon as I said, "Okay," the doctor went ahead and filled out a paper with a final price of $600. I assumed the $500-600 range was due to a possible extra procedure, equipment or medicine which was going to depend once taking my dog to the back to further examine and start treatment. I questioned the $600 price and asked I thought it was $500-600, not depending on whether Id be willing to pay more because I could, but because it depended on other circumstances. The doctor just stated, "Yes, its $600." I went ahead since I was already there. I had read other reviews of price inflation, but still chose this location over two others I was considering. I also thought having to pay the whole amount upfront before anything was even done was way out of the ordinary for any service. A partial down payment (even half of amount) is reasonable, but paying the whole amount before any service is not good business.

This facility is to be avoided unless it is a life or death situation. First the cost is akin to price gouging since the facility charges 4-5 times or more than customary veterinary costs. Even taking into consideration a reasonable charge for emergency service their prices are exorbitant. No wonder they have credit card applications on the desks. Big red flag! Furthermore after being charged over $1000 dollars my pet was misdiagnosed and I wonder now if they intentionally diagnose conditions as far more severe than what is actually the case. Pushy with their opinion and treatment plan and rather stand offish and blunt when asked about other options. These corporate facilities are far more worried about their bottom lines than making accurate diagnoses and they apparently train their vets to take the most drastic and costly approach to diagnosis and treatment. They know you are in a desperate situation and they unfortunately take full advantage of the clients vulnerability. It must be the fact that they know you will never return and they need to bleed everything out of the client while they can.
