I would have given it less stars if possible. Worst treatment ever. My 18 year old was found by rail road tracks disorentated did not know how he had gotten there In the middle of the afternoon. Idk why but the officer brought him home and told me he thought he needed immediate medical care. That he was way to close to the tracks as well. My sons pupils where enlarged. He was shaking, his blood pressure was high and he was still disorentated. I told the officer I would call an ambulance he left. We got horrid treatment from the begining. He kept wanting to fall off to sleep. They let him. I DIDNT. He may have hit his head and that is why he blacked out who knows. He also had serious head pain. They did take his blood pressure and such. Then put him in the lobby. I pointed this out about head injury and sleeping. Was told to go out there he would get treatment from there. I explained I was an agoraphobic that I had no problem waiting, but I couldnt sit in a large crowd. I didnt care if it was a closet could I get some place quiet, was told no. I then asked for the first of three times to see a patient advocate. This never happened. My son sat in the lobby unmonitored for 4 hours after being brought in by ambulance after being found disorentated by police. He NEVER saw a doctor. He never had his pupils or responces checked. No one felt his head for an injury or trauma. They did draw blood and do a CT scan. Nurse came out at one point said doctor was reviewing test but it all looked good. Next the nurse tells us they are preparing his discharge papers. Again he has not seen a doctor and yes this is a nurse and not a nurse practitioner. I AGAIN ask to see a patient advocate and get nothing but ignored. After two hours of waiting on discharge papers without even knowing what is wrong and NEVER seeing a doctor. I go to the admissions desk and ask for a patient advocate. Some one brings me a patient right booklet. I told them I know my rights I want an advocate. I was told she would look and see if she had a phone number to one. I told her I wanted to speak to one in person. I was told they didnt have any. We left there knowing nothing more than when we went. He NEVER saway a doctor. I NEVER spoke to one. I now have to hope he is ok until he can get any medical care with his pcp. This hospital used to be top notch and the best quality of care. It was a well known hospital for the best standards in this part of the valley. They saved my dads life once he was having one of those widow maker heart attacks. Sadly they are still well know in this part of the valley, but it is for substandard care now. Once this was the only hospital in the valley I would want treated at. Not today. This has not been my first bad experience there over the last few years. It is just the most sever. It just keeps getting worse and worse there. Might I add the restrooms were so dirty. There was a film on the floors and they were covered in hair. The faucet was broken it rattled, shook and almost feel off when I tried to use it. The entire staff was curt and rude. I was listening with the nurse and my son speak another staff member came up started to ask me something. I said just a minute please I am listening to my son. She rudely says maam again. I again replied please I am listening. Even more rudely she states I need this information. Every single person I crossed was rude and acted like they just didnt want to be there. This was just one example of rudeness and omg the dirty looks they give. Now one of their admits will post here their standard reply. Lip service and it will mean nothing. Changes action is what is needed.

You really need to provide better service for your emergency area, you only provide inhumane and unethical services. Last friday i had the worst experience ever, my mom was very sick vomiting acid every 10 minutes, we waited for 3 hrs at emergency lobby for some help from your staff, you cant imagine how disappointed I am not only for having poor services but as well for your unprofessional personnel, and your head RN Nurse which were fully aware of the situation. They refuse to help us even when we were desperate for some help all i ask was for a nurse to help my mom and stop the vomiting. which the spasms and the pain was making her unconscious and unable to breath. This was turning into a worst situation. i asked the receptionist for some water and she said she could not help, i beg the nurse for first aid to stop the vomiting and received no help ... they new my mom is diabetic and saw how strong were her pains and they did not care... their only excuse was they had no beds. I personally talked to the highest authority in charge who was the RN nurse he only said he could not help me until they had a bed. i asked him if he could find out in other hospitals if they had beds available in ER, he denied his help stating that they were so many hospital in the valley, i was stunned by his words and desperately crying took my mom to a clinic near by. we received absolutely no help from your staff, but you do have a quick admission since it only took your people five minutes to have me signed papers where made me responsible for all fees , that of course was a very fast and accurate service!!! i really hope this gets through and you start being aware of the situation at the ER.. there is no point of having a hospital with the best doctors in the valley if the staff is not professional!!! Specially if a nurse vocation is to help others, and they do nothing when someone needs their help.

In our case, the hospital staff are not left with any Doctors orders for treatment so every request requires a phone call to the Doctor(s) (even just to administer Tylenol a call was required and a delay was caused). This causes extended and unnecessary delays and the nurses are not empowered and never have answers. This would be acceptable if the Doctors were available but they are very busy and unable to help when its needed. There were little bugs in my Fathers shower and on his tray table. When I told the nurse she just squished them with a napkin. I had to be more direct with another nurse about needing it at least properly cleaned. With the exception of only a couple of people, the staff was generally rude and inconsiderate. Parking is an absolute nightmare and the layout of the disjointed buildings is confusing to say the least. If I could have pulled my Father out of there the second day he was there I would have driven him to McAllen or San Antonio to receive better treatment. He was here for 7 days a few weeks prior to the visit Im referring to and nothing was done to diagnose him, much less treat the problem. I believe its because he didnt have anyone to stand up for him and ask questions. They gave him the run-around and he wound up back in with the same problems. The ER Doctor even commented that the staff didnt properly treat him the first time he was there and was upset that tests werent ordered to determine root cause. My experience has been negative and I would NEVER recommend this hospital.
