My experienced at ER was horrible! I had taken my mother very ill she was unresponsive. I was with my father and husband as a nurse was taken my moms vitals. The nurse all of sudden looked agitated and yelled for all of us to have a seat that she needed to ask questions to the patient (my mom) I responded as I was bewildered," mam dont you see my mom is unresponsive! How can she answer your questions?" "No Im not leaving my mothers side!" I asked to see if I could speak to her supervisor because I didnt appreciate her tone or attitude and lack of empathy. The nurse then turned around and started yelling and threatening me with security for me to leave the hospital. I refuse to leave as I had not done anything wrong. I asked the nurse for her name she gave me her name and said," dont forget it and dont mispronounced it!,"in a very rude manner she was white and being racist. When they gave my mother a room my father went along the male nurse asked him what was wrong with her. My father replied I dont know thats wrong with her thats why Im bringing my wife to you. The male nurse then replied "no, not your wife whats wrong with your daughter? My father then responded "dont worry about my daughter please help my wife. "The ER staff then asked for him to step outside. And this is where they took advantage of my mother as she was alone. They are SICK AND TWISTED HUMAN BEINGS....When I spoke to my mother she said how the ER staff had mistreated her when they transfer her from the wheelchair to the bed one male nurse threw her with her face facing down the matress she couldnt move she was stuck in that position. Then the male nurse yanked and tore her clothes off causing pain as he was being rough. My mother heard the male nurse laughing and telling the ER staff his coworkers how she was all pretending."no esta mala esa senora se esta haciendo" and laughing and laughing my mother felt very humiliated. Please people read my comment this hospital acted like a street gang they dont deserve to be working in the health profession. Nurses should be helping and protecting patience not abusing and ganging up on patients or family members. I urge you to stop going to this hospital I will never ever see this hospital the same way. Abusive, racist, unprofessional!!! They behave like thugs and street people not professional.

The staff at this hospital is very, very unprofessional. They are not knowledgeable in the needs of their patients and then have the audacity to tell us that its not their fault because they are understaffed. Among other things this is part of what happened: they told us that they could not get to our father right away and had advised him to "just go in his diaper" and they would clean him up later. What happened to Nursing staff taking care of their patients dignity? On top of that, our father is in there to have his toe surgically removed (another topic to discuss) because of gangrene and then they want him to use the bathroom in "his diaper"? So that they can clean him "LATER" and have him get ulcers on his behind and have those turn to gangrene as well??? Our father cannot distinguish a face, he sees silhouettes - he is losing his eyesight. His needs are posted all over his wall. An unknown staff member went to his room to move his sliding table closer to him so he could eat. His arm was on the handrail. They slid (more like slammed) the table down right on top of his arm causing a gash and loss of a lot of blood. Enough blood to leave traces all on the unhinged side of the table and underneath, the hand rail, his walker, and his bed. We could not even fathom how the blood got on his walker. We never received a phone call to let us know about the incident, nor was the incident recorded in his chart but his arm was cleaned and bandaged. We took plenty of pictures and let the Nursing staff have it! The only thing the nursing staff was concerned about - was how WE spoke to them about everything that had happened. Never concerned about our fathers dignity - just theirs! There is more - but I think you get where I am going with this. The staff needs to take their Nursing courses all over again with an emphasis on Patients Quality of Life!

Texas Medical Board is claiming this Dr has Hospital Privileges at McAllen Medical Center... Dr Armando Leonel Martinez is an unprofessional Emergency Medicine Specialist (contractor) working at Rio Grande Regional Hospital Emergency Room (ER). On December 29, 2016 (2:35pm) in the hospital ER, this emergency room physician with less than 7 years of experience was rude and unprofessional. His conduct in treating my father was substandard. His lack of medical knowledge for a simple five minute procedure was extremely evident. Simply, he was incompetent in this medical procedure so we AMA (Against Medical Advice) depart the hospital at about 5pm. And went to the Edinburg Regional Medical Center ER to get the five minute treatment done under 1 hour verse the incomplete six hour treatment at Rio Grande Regional Hospital under his care. I would not recommend this ER doctor to anyone. Do yourself a big favor and seek out another ER doctor on call because maybe they would be of better service. Bottom-line, I have serviced 23 years in the military and I have the uncanny ability to spot individuals who lack character and integrity. Without a doubt, Dr Martinez is heading down the wrong path in his chosen profession while not thinking of his patient First before his Ego. Hoping he makes better decisions in future, Lieutenant Commander Beamsley (U.S. Navy)

I have been here for a little over 24 hours. It is so disorganized, there seems to be a lack of communication. People are trying to give me medication but dont know why I should be taking it. Asking me to sign consent forms for procedures, but dont know why I need them. In addition, I still have yet to see the doctor that is suppose to be my attending doctor. After I refused to sign the consent form for a procedure until after I saw my doctor, then I got to speak to my doctor, OVER THE PHONE. Which he stated that he was canceling my procedure because of results from other tests. If I hadnt refused, I would have received a procedure that I DID NOT NEED, just like the medicines being thrown my way. I will be trying very hard to transfer hospitals before the day ends. I had one amazing nurse assist me yesterday, even though she was my nurse, she helped me FIND my nurse and get a room. Also last night, I had a great nurse. Apart from those two, I have had issues with every other portion of my time here.

I brought my wife to the ER for abdominal cramping and diarrhea. However, she came back home with only bladder infection medication (macrobid). No med was given for the chief complaints. So , i called the Er and spoke to a nurse , marissa gonzalez, to see what had they done on her. However, she said talking on the phone was not appropiate and would explain to us if we stop by. Ok... we then drove there hoping to understand more from a doctor or nurse... and now marissa wants us to register again if we need to know what had they done early... ( Again, my wife didnt, want to get treatment again, we only wanted to know why the health care provider not taking care of the chief complaints and what had he done for such decision). Marissa was just trying to be difficult. I saw a doctor passed by and he answered my question right away (in a better logical way than her).. without registering nor waiting at all. This place is just sad!
