This review has been a long time coming! I went into the emergency room way back around 2004. Not sure if I remember it all the details, but it was BAD! I was having severe abdominal pain. Once admitted, the doctor started asking me all the normal questions. One question she asked me was, "Do you do drugs?" I told her no. She said, "Not even marijuana?" All I said was doesnt everybody? I guess that was all it took. I was told that I had a cyst on my ovary and that it needed to be removed. Oh, and that I was pregnant! My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for seven years. I called him crying to tell him the good news. That night, awaiting surgery in the morning, I had severe pain in my back. Crying all night. I asked the male nurse in the middle of the night, if there was anything I can do to stop the pain. He said, "Nope!" I was offered ANYTHING! They left me alone, crying in pain all night. No ice packs, no heated pads, no kind words. The next morning, after surgery, the nurse came in and said I need to go home now. I said that I will have to call my husband. She left the room, came back in the THREW A PHONE BOOK ON MY BED AND TOLD ME TO CALL A CAB!!! I asked her if the baby was ok and she said, "You had a miscarriage." and left the room. I collapsed in tears. Two days later, I went to a doctor for my back pain. I told him what happened. I told him that I just had a miscarriage. He was very sympathetic. He prescribed me some pain medicine because my back was still in severe pain thinking that it would be safe, since I was no longer pregnant. Three days later, I had my miscarriage. A few months later, I found out that I have Spondylolisthesis. (A small crack in my spine) I wrote to the hospital. A very long letter in much more detail. No response. Nothing. Im educated, well spoken, and do not do drugs. I was judged by the doctor and she told the staff her perspective of me. I was garbage. Throw her out and lets get a more worthy patient in here. I never went back. I have a baby one year later at St. Davids. They were amazing! I hate what happened to me. Could my baby have been saved? How could I have two miscarriages? We have one child. I cannot have any more children. I wouldve had two.

Ive now delivered two babies here and I adore this hospital and the staff and I would never want to deliver anywhere else. My second baby came prematurely and had to spend two weeks in the NICU. Hopefully you never find yourself in that situation but I did and the nurses not only took amazing care of my daughter but they offered me support too and always asked how I was feeling and engaged in conversation with me when I went in for her feedings or I walked down the hall to get food or fresh air. That warm environment makes a world of a difference when youre dealing with a situation that is somewhat traumatic. My daughter and I both came home physically and mentally healthy because of the care we received here. This hospital also allowed for me to stay at the hospital while my daughter was there (as long as there is room available you can stay), and that was a nice surprise and certainly something more hospitals should work towards providing. Allowing mothers to stay with their newborns can absolutely help alleviate and even prevent PTSD associated with NICU stays. Thank you Seton.

Every time I have had to go to the ER, I would only go to Seton Southwest!!! They are the BEST! Everyone is so nice and the wait times are seriously only like 5- 15 mins tops!!! Which is way better than the other South Austin hospital where I had to wait 8 hours about 5 years ago and never went back there again. The nurses and doctors have always gone above and beyond to make you feel better and at ease being in the hospital for an emergency. The facility is so clean and everyone is very calm which definitely helps when you are worried about your health. I only recommend this hospital ER to everyone I know and care about!!! If you want exceptional care by wonderful doctors and nurses and you want this as quickly as humanly possible, then go to Seton Southwest!!!! They also have a website (I have never used it) that you can go on and sign in while you are on your way over there to cut down on your wait time. But... Who needs that when they only have you wait like 5 mins anyways!!!

Went to the ER for chest pain and coughing red/brown flem, which a triage nurse suggested that I was coughing blood. ER docs didnt find anything, and I sat for an extra hour in my room with no communication from staff before finally being discharged. Fast forward 2 months, and I receive a $900 bill from the ER doctor. Now, Seton Southwest is in-network but it turns out that they contract in ER doctors which were out-of-network. My insurance tells me that its "impossible to know" whether a doctor is in-network or not, but refuses to pay the bill. The ER doctors billing group tells me that its the insurances responsibility. So now Im stuck with a $900 bill even though I went to an in-network hospital. Bottom line -- Seton ER seems to scam patients by hiring out-of-network doctors. Go somewhere else unless you like surprise bills.

I want to say that were if not for Seton Southwest I might be dead at this moment. One recent Sunday I went to the ER due to severe pain and swelling in my calves and feet. After giving a bit of medical history, Dr. Sara Martinez (my hero) ran numerous test. She then came into my room and advised me that I had Leukemia. She wrote on my release paperwork that I was to see a cancer dr within 1 week. I took that ppwk to my own dr., and due to policy I may not see a specialist until Sept. or Oct. In addition, I found out that my blood work has been bad since Feb 16 and no one has said anything. Im still dealing with my dr and clinic however if not for Dr. Martinez it might have been too late. The entire team in the ER is awesome and they all ROCK!!! Blessings to you all! Cheryl Martinez-Calhoun

Seton did a great job when my son was born. But since then we have had several issues with Texas Hill Country Anesthesia billing us for services my wife did not receive. Texas Hill Country, according to my research, does most of their business through Seton. But Deborah in the business office told me in no uncertain terms that it is my problem and she cannot and will not help me. I have been dealing with this for months and it is making my wife very anxious to have a bill for $5000 for services we did not receive hanging over our heads. Seton needs to train their associates to be more accommodating and empathetic when dealing with patients.
