I was able to schedule an appointment pretty quickly and the nurses were extremely nice! I have been having severe abdominal pain and after talking to Dr. Steephen, she thought it was probably Crohns or Ulcerative Colitis. We did an endoscopy and colonoscopy a few days later (which was nice being able to have the procedure done so quickly) and up until this point, I was pretty happy with the service and treatment that I had received. The scopes came back to show that there was only mild inflammation in my intestines, which she said wouldnt have been causing such severe pain so if the biopsy came back and it wasnt something microscopic, then we would check my gallbladder. She wasnt very friendly after the scope was done and I was asking her questions. I called later that day to let her know that the pain in my stomach seemed constant and concentrated in one area...her answer was "go to the ER or maybe you should have your ovaries or gallbladder checked because I didnt find anything". She was short and rude. I received a call the following Monday (yesterday) and missed it, but called back around noon and was told I would receive a call back after the nurse was finished with her current patient and then returned from lunch. I hadnt received a call back and the office was scheduled to close a half hour later, so I called the office...the phones were already rolled over to answering service. I received a call this morning and my biopsy results came back with no bacteria in my stomach and was told to take an antacid. I let the nurse know that this is something Id been doing, but it wasnt making a difference in the pain and asked what our next steps would be..she didnt know, so I told her that Dr. Steephen had said it could possibly be my gallbladder. She had to call me back and said Dr. Steephen said that we could go ahead and get your gallbladder checked with a scan, thats fine, if you want to do that. I told them that I felt like once Dr. Steephen didnt find what she thought the problem was, I felt like she stopped caring and her answers were just to go to the ER everytime and she wasnt concerned about finding the cause..the response was "oh, ok". I am getting my records sent over to another doctor now. There are plenty of other GI specialists that will give you the time of day and work to help you find out what your problem is. Doctors that do an initial exam, get paid and then dont care should not be in business.

I was assigned to Dr. Steephen after reporting to Texas Health Presby. Hospital Emergency Room for abdominal pain. She did endoscopy and colonoscopy and found a massive tumor in my colon. At first I thought Dr. Steephen was aloof and not a very caring person. After getting to know her, however, I found she does care for her patients and is highly skilled. She is from India, I believe, and her culture is much more reserved than the normal american culture we see every day. This reserved demeanor may come across to some as aloof or standoffish but its really not who she is. She does not sugar coat her diagnosis and is very direct. I would recommend her to anyone.

I was referred to Dr. Steephen when my gastroenterologist retired and I thought she was very professional, thorough and kind. It is not fun getting colonoscopies every two years. because I had colon cancer when I was 35 but I know Dr. Stephen takes her job seriously and will do a great screening.
