So the pearland branch of this hospital sent my husband by an ambulance to this location, leaving his car in pearland. He came to the er in pearland where we are staying because he hasnt slept in 2 weeks due to extremely vivid dreams where he is actually talking and moving around, making it impossible for him to get any rest. So the pearland doctor says okay well I think you need a 10 min psychiatric evaluation, unfortunately we dont do those here so we will be sending you to a nearby hospital and they can see whats going on with your sleep. Now come to find out its like 45 minuses away which we werent aware of this until we were already in the damn ambulance on the way. But the entire time theyre saying oh yeah once theyre done with this we will take you right back to your car it will be fine. HAHA. Anyways we get there and he is admitted to some kind of psych ward in the hospital. They take his clothes, phone, wallet, EVERYTHING. Hes taken to this blank room that looked like a drunk tank of some kind and they ignored him for HOURS until I walked out and asked what the hell is going on. My husband is so exhausted and that he cant eat or drink. Hes completely dehydrated! This nurse is so rude in telling me I need to go back to our room and wait for the doctor. Everything in a hospital takes patience she said. Its been hours already at this point so Im like okay can he at least get an IV because hes so dehydrated? She says no maam the doctor will decide what he needs. COMPLETELY USELESS NURSES. They wouldnt even allow me to go get him water to try and sip they wanted me to wait for them to get it taking their sweet ass time. They literally treated us like we were criminals or something I was so confused and pissed off I was beside myself. Finally she brings a 2 day expired sandwich to him and acts like okay this should make everything better. I go, Okay he cant eat or drink because hes too dehydrated and exhausted remember? She couldnt care less. Thats all we got she said. I point out its expired and she acts like Im such a drama queen like ARE YOU SERIOUS????? After 4 hours of just waiting my husband is outraged and wants to leave, and I couldnt blame him he was being treated like some kind of psycho?!? The nurse says, well his urine and blood look abnormal but if yall wanna go I cant stop you. I said okay so we will wait because now Im even more scared but I ask how will we be getting back to our car once we finish with the evaluation? She said I dont know. I SAID WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DONT KNOW. Call the damn ambulance that said they would come back and take us to our car?! She said I think there must have been some sort of misunderstanding with that, we cannot provide you with a ride you need to make your own arrangements. I want to scream but I dont tell my husband that part because I think that cant be true I will figure it out and we will be fine. We have no money by the way so we couldnt call a cab. I go back the the room and the doctor finally comes and hes a nice enough guy and acts like he understands our frustration and doesnt necessarily know why hes here. He said all your tests look conpletely NORMAL other than the fact youre dehydrated. So that nurse LIED to me about my husbands health...... He said youre not suicidal or violent, you should be in a regular ward and they shouldve evaluated you there. He apologized and said he would write him a prescription to help him sleep at least. The ride situation is only resolved when my husband charged out the door saying he was going to walk home because this is bullshit. They finally call us a cab and we get home after 7 hours........ worst nurses, worst experience at a hospital ever...

Due to a medical emergency, on Saturday night I found myself at the Methodist Emergency Center off of 59 and Kirby. I was quickly checked in and within 5 to 6 minutes I was already called back and put in an exam room where the WONDERFUL Nursing staff went to work, the problem came when the Doctor walked in the room. He never addressed anything but asked had I taken anything and what was I on . . . inferring that I was on drugs (which I have never used). So after a few test the Doctor realized I was actually sick and suggested that I should go to the hospital, never addressing my medical problem. The Head Nurse saw the agony I was in and swiftly got on the phone, and within minutes, before my husband and I could decide if I should go, she had the ambulance on the way as well as a room for me once I got to the hospital (how I wish I could remember her name). Once I go to the hospital the problem with the Doctors just got worse. After I was in my room, the day nurse Trisha came on duty with Brenda, my PCA, and they were the BEST they keep me calm, did whatever they could, made sure I was as comfortable as possible and was always checking on me. As for the Doctor I NEVER saw him/her and the worst part is they actually came to my floor saw other patients and then just left. The nursing staff kept reassuring me that they were coming but the docs never did. After over 16 hours of waiting, and I respectfully checked myself out and made an appointment with my own Doctor who saw me that very morning and did what the MD staff at Methodist did not, which was take the time to care for my medical needs. Why go to medical school if you aren’t willing to help those in need of medical help? The way I was treated was completely unacceptable; I will from now on ONLY go to Memorial Hermann and suggest you all do the same. As for all the hype that Methodist announces; they are the number one hospital for this and the number one hospital for that, they forgot the most important that that they want to be number one in and that is patient care and caring for their medical needs they need to go back to the table and shriving to be the number one in that.

While the nurses are top quality and caring, not much could be said for the rooms and administration of the hospital. I was in the Jones building for 5 horrible days. The a/c system was not working and despite having the thermostat on 70 the room was still 80 decrees. The initial response to try and resolve the a/c issue was to tell me to have a family member bring a fan for me for home. Finally after requesting for maintenance 4 times, they finally came and advised the nurses and hospital staff to move me out of the room. Even my doctors were very upset that I was in a room with no proper working a/c. The hospital changed my room 3 times, and each room had the same problem. The hospital seemed to only transfer me within the Jones building and not to another part of the hospital in which did not have theses issues. I am sure if I was a politician, celebrity or person of wealth I never would had been assigned a room within the Jones building. It seems Methodist reserves their better rooms for those that was more than willing to pay for their "deluxe suites". I spoke with the patient advocate on several occasions and the only assistance they could offer was to provide my family members with one day free valet parking. I had to check out of Methodist and re-admit to St. Lukes Hospital just so I could properly recover from surgery. If you have to be admitted to Methodist in the Texas Medical Center just make sure they do not assign you a room within the Jones or Main buildings.
