I was not a patient at Texas Spine and Joint; so my review is from the position of a family member. My aunt had knee replacement surgery. I was her caretaker. On day one things were great, Dr. Carney is a miracle worker, the replacement was a success and it took no time. My aunt came to the room looking almost as though she had not had surgery. However, here is where things went downhill, the lvl of care she received was not good. My aunt would complain with pain and they would just give her more medication...until the point she could not speak, stay awake or even remember what was going on after an hour. This went on for two days, until I finally started asking what was wrong with her because her behavior was turning mean, angry, and she was refusing to do anything she was told to do by the staff. She was contacting family members telling them she did not know what was going on, or where she was, she was telling me things like the nurses were refusing to bathe her even though she asked, they were not feeding her, and she was not getting any pain medication. Instead of the staff trying to work with me and help my aunt they turned against me and treated me as though I were harming my aunt. One nurse said my aunt was completely fine, even though the Dr. stated she was not in her right mind and took her off the medication she was on. The nursing staff eventually had me removed from the hospital and called the police on me, putting my aunts life in danger. They refused to watch her like they said they would, keeping the door closed so she could move about unsupervised against their wishes, one nurse, Laura, violated my aunts HIPPA rights by speaking with people over the phone about her medical condition who were not on her HIPPA list. Then she proceeded to inform me that "She had spoken with other family members, and they were taking great care of her"....My aunts son ended up having to make a 5 hour drive and invoke his power of attorney to have another nurse put on my aunts case and get the staff to actually help her become lucid again. It was very traumatic for me and my family, the men who took me from the hospital threatened to call the police on me in front of my three year old child, which caused him to become frightened. I had a panic attack in the parking lot, and could not drive away immediately so they did call the police on me. In short this is a facility that is there to make money, they do not really care about patients well being and they sure do not have time for family members who have concerns, their job is to move them in and move them out. We as a family have made sure that Dr. Carney will be doing my aunts other knee at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital where Christians work and they care about patients. ☆UPDATE☆ I feel it is very important for families to be made aware of this facility....especially if they have elderly people they love and care for. It is a month later and my aunt has been traumatized by this facility since she left...first when she moved to her rehab facility they tried to prevent me from being able to see her there, while she was begging and crying saying I would never hurt her and I love her...thankfully providence park did not listen to this facility and my aunt thrived in rehab! Her knee is doing wonderful thanks in FULL TO DR. CARNEY....nothing to do with spine and joint or their $74000 BILL lol....They lost my aunts medication that they forced her to bring with her so they would not have to provide it from their pharmacy, and then it took threats from the family to get them to replace it! Now she is back at Texas Spine and Joint at the request of Dr. Carney and they are REFUSING TO LET ME BE WITH HER! She is telling them I am in no way a threat to her, I only have her best interest at heart and I love her. She told them if I cannot stay she only wants to be at the hospital 3 days, which is Dr. Carneys recommendation...they told her they cannot recommend that based on her previous surgery. More like they just want another $74000. They prey on the elderly! Beaware!

I had an outpatient procedure done this morning at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital and I must say it was the most pleasant experience I have ever had at a hospital. The Pre-op appointment was conducted in a very professional manner and was extremely efficient. Each team came to my room ready to "get the job done", yet they were friendly and knowledgeable about what they were doing. They answered all my questions and concerns and without making me feel rushed. Before my procedure began, my anesthesiologist visited with me and listened to my anesthesia concerns. He provided me with the medication I needed in order not to get sick after my surgery. Following my procedure, I was allowed to become fully awake, at my own pace. At other hospitals I was rushed out the door as soon as my eyelids fluttered, which in part led to my getting sick to my stomach. I am so grateful that my wonderful doctor contracts with TSJ. Every doctor, nurse, technician, receptionist and office staff worker was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, concerned and kind. This was the most positive experience I have ever experienced at a health care facility. Thank you.

I have used Texas Spine and Joint and in particular Dr. Blau there since 2009. When I first started going there I felt the compassion from the staff and doctor went above and beyond anything in this area;however, since the new additions have been built on it seems the focus has switched from patient-centered to financial-centered. After my last visit even with insurance, for a regular dr. visit I was billed over $1100 for a urinalysis. They preceedes to tell me it is because they have a two-step process and it was over $300 for the first step and over $800 for the second step. Now what I would like to know ( since I was not on any narcotics) why after the first clean dip and results in the office why they would then send it off for an additional cost of $800. These were UNNECESSARILY charged expenses and fraudulent billing in my opinion. Before seeing a doctor there I would suggest getting a cost report and breakdown of services prior to using them. They are the epitome of what is wrong with our healthcare system. I will no longer be using them.

I have been going to Texas Spine and Joint for a couple of years now for back pain. I have seen my pain management doctor for injections and medication. The physician Dr.Griffith is excellent but their PA is horrible. I havent been given any pain medication since July and after not having pain medicine for 4 months and being in pain when i went to my office visit with the PA, she violated hippa law by voicing her opinion to the other staff stating "all i wanted was some Norco, which she was not prescribing!" And i was asking for any kind of pain meds for my pain since i havent been on anything but tylenol. First of all my appointment was at 8:30am and i didnt leave their office until 2:00pm waiting on a prescription which she was supposed to call in to the pharmacy, but apparently no prescription was called in! Please if you want better service and patient confidentiality DO NOT go to see Dr. Griffiths PA..
