Scam. I showed up for a scheduled procedure and was told I needed to pay the remainder of my deductable ($1500 on Amex) and they would file the balance of facilities charges with my insurance company. That amount wanted was approximately 4 times the estimated facility charges given to me by my doctors office, which operates exclusively out of this hospital. When I questioned the charges, the hospital said they could not give me an accurate estimate. This was to be an outpatient procedure that has been done thousands of times at this hospital and they would not tell me what the facilities cost was going to be. Additionally, as a provider in a PPO, they know exactly what charges the insurance company will allow. I suspect that if I had said I was going pay with a check, they would want it filled out to whatever was the balance of my account. Fortunately, my affliction was only discomfort and aggravation, not life threatening, so I got up and walked. I think they operate this way because most people are in severe pain or worse, and will sign anything to get relief. Be sure and read the fine print on your admission forms. Just because a hospital is a PPO provider does NOT mean that all doctors, anesthesiologists etc that have privileges there are also in the network. Want healthcare reform? Start here!

Texas Orthopedic Hospital is a top notch facility! I had an ankle surgery to repair two tendons. They saw me immediately, even though I procrastinated about getting the MRI. There waiting room is expansive and is very efficient. They have a lot of paperwork to fill out, but overall things moved very quickly. The Drs were excellent. I saw Dr. David Loncarich, however my PCP recommended a long list of their doctors. The facility is a the definition of perfection in terms of customer experience. Everything was explained, no rush, you felt they whole staff really cared. The Dr. nurses ensured you had a direct line to the desk. Even after hours calls were immediately addressed by knowledgeable staff. A special thanks goes out to the gentlemen in the cast room. They are very carrying and work as one big team. They cared for many children who were is serious pain, and did an excellent job. The cast team was very cautious and did an excellent job of gently handling my injury. Areas of improvement - they charge for parking in the garage which is not really that bad. Also, the crutch instructions came right after my surgery while recovering from anesthesia, so I was not that interested in learning how to use crutches. This should have been done before surgery. O

Robert S--- Excellent facility and staff, my experience was fantastic from beginning to end. I came to Dr Brinker and Texas Ortho due to a femur nonunion that was also misaligned when nailed. I was in excruciating pain and walking with a severe limp for 1.5 years, yes while under the care of the original MD. I worked in the hospital where this all took place, saw the folks responsible daily. They would tell my when they saw me limp down the hall with my foot pointed outward, "keep up the rehab and point that foot strait". I joked that it was put on crooked and even asked the Doc.... Dr Brinker exchange nailed my femur and was able to align my leg correctly. I had less pain at the location of the break immediately following surgery than I had experienced the past 1.5 years. He looks at the whole picture and gathers all facts. Dr Monla, the Edocrinologist at Texas Ortho, performed testing to determine my ability or inability to heal bone. Well Im pain free and back to normal, thanks Dr Brinker and Staff and Texas Ortho and Staff.....something i was beginning to believe was going to last the rest of my life, was fixed quick fast and in a hurry

Great hospital, great doctors, poor staff! The docs know what theyre doing but you have to put up with a LOT of b.s. to get good health care here. Update: Three surgeries, 2 in patient and the staff is good for the most part. Theres a problem with their billing department where they want me to pay a small portion of my surgeries that is supposed to be contractually written off but that is my problem for now. The doctors are great! Their staff leave some to be appreciated. Not only from one doctors, either. My hip orthopedic doc is great, his medical assistant must be his daughter. Im actually filing a medical grievance for wrong information she gave me. Due to her laziness I almost didnt use an insurance paid benefit, all because she didnt pick up the phone and call the insurance company herself. Shes rude. I can usually put up with rudeness if the person is competent. She is not. I get the feeling the doctors arent running anything and certainly do not care about customer service or they would ask for feedback and not have to rely on Healthgrades and google reviews slamming them.

Dr. Gharbaoui, as well as his surgical and clinical staff are wonderful and amazing people. This is definitely a world-class organization. Dr. Gharbaoui is a fantastic surgeon. He repaired my ring finger after I lost a battle with an electric miter saw. Fortunately, I didnt sever my finger. However, I did suffer two deep blade cuts which tore away substantial skin and flesh, and partially lacerated a tendon. I am happy to say that I have fully recovered all movement and strength within just a few months. And the signature of all amazing surgeons, despite the jagged cuts and loss of tissue, the scar is hardly noticeable. Thank you Dr. Gharbaoui and your outstanding team!

Pre-registering was a communication nightmare. Either the doctors office and/or hospital fault, but it took over 20 days to get my surgery date and time. After surgery being placed in an observation section of the hospital is not an area you would like to spend more than an hour or two, let alone 15 - 18 hours. It was a cold uncomfortable room and certainly not a place anyone should have to expect from a hospital boasting of being the best in Texas.

Texas Orthopedic Hospital is rated by U.S. New & World Report as one of the ten best orthopedic hospitals. My wife had a knee replacement done, and the service was excellent. Everyone from nurses and other staff members were exceedingly courteous. Im a business man and I know the importance of pleasing the customer. They are a top notch hospital. I highly recommend this hospital.

Nursing staff during my procedure was top notch. Be careful and ask if all the people involved with your procedure is in-network with your Insurance. Focus on the Anesthesiologists. They seem to think that not informing you of this information is not important to the patient. I do my best to try to stay in-network with everything out of respect to my insurance company.

If only all hospitals were like this....Facilities and staff are outstanding - from the time you come in until you leave. When you need help and push the button, they respond immediately. This experience is not from 1 visit but 5, and no other hospital can compare with the care that each individual receives. On top of that - the food is good too!!!!

I had two surgeries at Texas Orthopedic and went through 2 months of rehabilitation. After a bad car accident, I have complete use and extention in my elbow thanks to Dr. Melhoff. The care I received at Texas Orthopedic was outstanding. I would recommend Dr. Melhoff to everyone who has wrist, hand or elbow problems.
