My father was in Triumph Northwest for three weeks. They were trying to push us out the door from their ICU unit to a skilled nursing facility (SNF). We went to every SNF on this side of Houston and none would accept him because he was too ill. On the day they were trying to kick him out, he ended up back at the ICU at Northwest Medical Center. Imagine trying to kick a patient out of the hospital who actually needed to be in ICU! When he was released from the NWMC a week later they tried to tell us that we had to go back to Triumph, but we told them we had already checked and we knew that we had the right to choose where my father was going and it wouldnt be back there. The case manager called me and begged me to bring him back to Triumph and give them another chance. I cant imagine why they wanted him back there when they had tried so hard to kick us out. These people are a profit center... patients are an aggravation. The less care they can offer, the better for them. It is my belief that they would prefer that a Medicare patients die after 3 weeks so they could free up a bed for another patient because Medicare reimbursement is cut by 20% after the first 3 weeks in an LTAC. Doctors dont speak to the patients or the family members. My father thought he was in a morgue when he first arrived there because no one spoke to him at all. Nursing care was horribly sloppy and a family member had to be there 24 hours a day to make sure that basic needs were met and not ignored. They advertise that wound care is one of their specialties, but there were only wound care nurses on duty 3 days a week. The other nurses were unfamiliar with the wound care basics and complexities of the wound vac machines. When the alarms would go off on the machines, they would close the doors so they wouldnt have to hear them instead of responding to them. The equipment was rented, sometimes faulty, and they didnt know how to operarate it. Case management was deceptive and totally unhelpful when it came to understanding how Medicare works. Dont depend on people whose primary motivation it is to make money as your source for info. Get out there and find out about your rights and the rights of your loved ones. You do have options.

The hospital assistant nursing staff seems over worked bc nurses just administer medication. Most seem like they are there just for a paycheck. You can feel and see the tension. While my husband was there one of the other patients we knew was given someone elses I.V. antibiotics. Nurses need to check medicine label and compare it to patients I.D. bracelet. They would give my husband I.V. antibiotics back to back one day and then give him no I.V. antibiotics the next day and would not flush his pick line like they were supposed to resulting in it becoming clogged and unusable at times. While there several patients on our wing, including my husband, came down with C. Diff. If proper hand washing is not done then it can be spread from patient to patient. On top of the other infections he had he really didnt need this one. There were days that my husband would go 3 or 4 days with his sheets not being charged on his bed. When I would find this out I would change his sheets on his bed. From that point on, I charged his sheets daily. Wound care as well as his doctors did not come by every day like they were suppose to. Towards the end of his stay, I was doing his wound care and realized that he was there just to get the I.V. antibiotics which we could do at home. For the most part the nursing staff as well as the nursing assistant staff were very helpful and friendly. The entire staff at the hospital seemed very friendly. But it seems that on some shifts they do not work as a team! This building is very old and in very bad need of repairs. The air conditioning system needs to be completely replaced! Some wings are freezing cold in the summer and others are like entering an oven! As far as placing my husband here ever again, that WILL NOT HAPPEN! This is really sad because we have had him in kindred several times over the years. But incompetent nursing staff is what has driven us away. Thank You! Charlotte McClain

This is my fourth time here and my thoughts every time is "this is where the Angels work" I have met some really really good people here. From mr Myers on down to the house keeping people this is the best place we have been. The attention that my wife got here was great. I recall the first time we left to a nursing home I called the Cheri the nursing supervisor here and she said get her to northwest and we can get her here. And thats exactly what she did. I feel like the nurses and housekeeper they allowed me to feel not so stressed and encouraged me and assured me that today is a new day. Even dr Chaco, dr Castillo, de Chang dr quoi, theres another one that wears a hat that really takes care of my wife. Dr Shannon in special procedures are very reassuring of her health and her betterment. Wound care, with the people that they have here from Susan and Tes and Allison they show me whats going on and let me watch so I may learn how to prepare with dressing and what to watch out for. Respiratory, these guys taught me how to suction and clean it for if I need to do it on my own one day. Everyone has shown me from a-z what why and how and what to look out for down the rode. When I was at Tirr they wanted to certify me in to suction her and use an ambu bag and the first time I did it the lady looked at me have you done this before and I simply said the people at kindred have let me watch them do it plenty of times. Honestly, I feel like the good Lord shined on us when they first sent us here. Be blessed with Kindred Spring!

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! Do no send any of your loved ones here!!!!! My father was transferred here after 3 months in hospitals. This was supposed to be his "last step before coming home." I went to visit him the day after he was transferred there, and he was in bed unresponsive and twitching. The nurse proceeded to tell me that they thought that was his "normal" behavior. How on earth would someone not responding or talking be "normal." As soon as they seen someone was there that actually cared, they responded and transferred him to the ICU unit there. From then on it was a downhill battle. We tried and tried getting him moved to a regular hospital but they kept saying it was against protocol, and they offer everything any other hospital does. My dad has said the nurses and the aids abuse him, hit him, & neglect him. The whole hospital is so unproffessional. The operators are rude. The place is dirty with gloves and trash lying all over the patients rooms. The nurses never come and check on the patients. If there are any reviews on this page that say how wonderful this place is, is obviously a staff member. This place is going down. If you care about your sick loved one, do not send them here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
