My son had gastric bypass this past Thursday June 22,2017. We were here until that Saturday and was released. He was in pain the entire time here and not able to drink like he was supposed to upon being released. Now mind you we live almost 3 hrs away from here. I brought my son home and done EVERYTHING we were told to do after discharge. Again remember my son is still in a lot of pain. He woke me up at 2am Monday with chest pains and his entire abdominal area burning in pain. I rushed him to the closest hospital in Port Arthur but they couldnt find out what was wrong other than his pain meds werent working because they were in pill form and he wasnt able to digest them. So they gave him liquid forms of his pain meds. So I took him back home and he went straight to bed. I was having to wake him up and the most amount of fluid I could get in him was a total of 6oz all day and he had only urinated 1 time. So at 2pm I noticed that my son wasnt looking good he had turned very very pale with a slight yellow tint very lethargic and cold as ice and still in severe pain even after taking the liquid meds. I called the Dr and was told to immediately call 911 and get him to a Beaumont hospital so he could be stabalized then transferred back here. So we were and got here about 10pm or so. NOTHING was done yesterday. No testing or anything. Last night he was having some kind of reaction to a medication they gave him and we had to wait approximately 30 to 40 minutes before the on call Dr called back with the ok for benadryl. Well by that time I was already in the gift shop fixing to by the benadryl myself when my son called and said that as soon as I left they gave him a large dose of it. It was sad that I had to make such a scene and go to get the med myself for my son who by the way is still in pain! So this morning his surgeon comes in and tells us they still dont know exactly whats going on except he is severely dehydrated and has a UTI and is going to order a bunch of test and we arent going home until he is out of pain and can tolerate food. Well then a little later another Dr comes in and says he is perfectly fine and he is being discharged. Honey I came unglued and kinda went off on him. These Drs need to get thier selves together and all on the same page!! They need to learn to communicate better between themselves and treat the patients with a lot more respect because WE are the ones that make their paychecks so they can drive those yellow Lambos!!! Once my son is healed WE WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN! !! I wouldnt even recommend someone to bring a stray dog here. However I do have to say that our nurses have been wonderful but the cost for guests here is ridiculous I have never seen prices as high as this place and not much selection! Worst experience ever!!!!

"If it were possible to give negative stars to this hospitals maternity ward, I would. I delivered my daughter here in November 2015 via c-section. My doctor, Sharon McCloskey was excellent. I have nothing but positives to say about her. However, after my delivery, one of the nurses in the nursery cut my babys nails. 11 days later, we noticed sores on her fingers. At first we thought they cut her nails too short and they were ingrown nails with pus. It turns out after we took her to an urgent care, and they advised us to go to childrens hospital , she had developed paronychia and was placed on an iv for antibiotics. After testing the sores on her fingers, the results were she had a staph infection. I contacted the hospital. Spoke with the head of nursing, Karen Childs, and she said none of her nurses admitted to cutting her nails and its against their policy. To date they have never taken ownership of putting my newborns life at risk. Had we not sought treatment for infection, the staph could have spread to her blood stream and killed her. The gross negligence and lack of responsibility this hospital and staff had for jeopardizing my babys life is atrocious. Karen Childs and her nursing staff have never recognized the fact that they put my babys life in danger. If you are planning to deliver your baby at this hospital, never let these nurses take your baby. If their policy is to not cut nails, the nurse who did this to my daughter must have used her own personal nail clippers to cut my babys nails which leads me to believe this nurse intended to harm my child. To see your 11 day old new born admitted to a hospital, placed on an IV, given a catheter, and have blood drawn, is a horrible experience. To all expectant mothers, please research the hospital you are going to deliver at and know their policies to avoid the horrible nightmare my family experienced. Thank god we got my baby the treatment she needed. She almost 7 months old and doing great- happy and healthy. But had we not gotten the treatment it is likely she would not be with us today."

The staff at the womens center are very rude. Their front office people treat you like an assembly line and respond to questions sarcastically. I had my first pregnancy appointment and went to make my follow up appointment and the receptionist was on the phone making a personal call while making my appointment. When I tried to ask her questions she didnt even respond because she was too busy taking her personal call. Not only that. I wasnt happy at all with my visit with the Nurse Practitioner. They dont allow you to see the OB for pregnancy until youve seen the nurse practitioner for the first 2-3 visits. The one I saw (I wont name her here, but Im considering filing a complaint) was very negative. Started right off harping on my weight and told me I needed to do an extreme ZERO carb diet during my pregnancy, which from talking to others, is not a healthy idea nor is it something she as a nurse practitioner should even have gone into discussing (it would be better discussed with a dietician). Then she preceded to tell me how Im likely to have a miscarriage because of high blood pressure and diabetes or that I might die myself during the pregnancy because of my weight. Although I DONT have either, but I listed that it was part of my family history. So I guess she automatically assumed I have it. She acted like Im the biggest person on the planet and Im NOWHERE near that. She also told me pretty much no chance of having a natural birth after having a c-section because according to her the only time the doctors allow that is if your c-section was because of a breach birth. Thats interesting, because the doctor who did my c-section told me "next time youll be able to attempt a natural birth". All around I wasnt happy with my visit as the office staff and nurse practitioner were very negative and I decided to cancel my future appointments. I had a much better experience with my first child and I was low income using state doctors back then.
