Last Saturday-July 25, 2009 I was admitted to the ER by ambulance to this hospital. The staff were rude, not caring for my pain- which was unknown the cause. I was in obvious physical pain. They took my temp and blood pressure and they said it was normal. About 20 minutes later a doc. came in (Dr. Wilson) and asked me what had happened and I described it to him. He said he will be right back and he did not. About 15 minutes later a staff member came in to ask me about my insurance and how I was going to pay. I told her that my husband is the carrier and he is on the way. She insisted that I call him and I told her that I did not have a cell phone and I was in pain. I told her it must be way past my medicine time and I was right- 1 hour past in fact. I have epilepsy and the medication was a few feet away on a counter. I told her to get someone, a nurse or doctor. But she kept on asking info about how I was going to pay. I told her again that my husband was on his way and please get me my medicine b/c I feel a seizure may occur. Then she did it. A nurse (named Michelle)came about 5 minutes later and wiped the upper left thigh where my bone was with alcohol and then said this is atavan and "big shot" and stuck a huge needle in me without asking me to lie straight or give me proper warning. Remember I was already in physical pain to start with. I am petite and have very little muscle fat. I cried with pain b/c she did not prepare me or change to a smaller needle. There was shooting pain all through my left leg and I was screaming with pain. The nurse said I was trying to help you and I told her I was in pain. She just left. No doctor or nurse came when I was literally crying and trying to get help. I pleaded for help. Luckily my husband arrived after 15 minutes of crying and he massaged my leg. It slowly felt better. A nurse came in to give me my release papers and a prescription for atavan. I told her I wanted to see the doctor to find out what caused my collapse and muscle problems when I first came in. He told me that he does not know- it could have been an anxiety attack or a seizure (they never drew any blood). He said to follow up with my doctor on Monday. And that was that. I came in with one physical pain and I left with another. A friend of mine, a nurse who used to work there, said that the needle probably hit the bone and that was why you had shooting pain. She also said they should not have used a big needle b/c of my size. And she also told me that this hospital has very poor nurses and doctors and that is why she quit. She would recommend never returning. And I agree. Save your money and time and health.

DONT COME HERE. AVOID IF YOU WANT TO GET BETTER. If I could give 0 stars to this medical institution, I would. I am writing this in hopes that I could steer you away from this ineffective, incomprehensible failure of a hospital and into another one that could provide you with proper healthcare and sufficient communication that is owed to you as a patient. I came to this hellhole of a hospital because I was transferred here from Bellevue ER. I had intense abdominal pain (8-9 out of 10 I would say. I couldnt even walk) and the only positive test observed by the ER was a high white blood cell count. I was admitted at 7am. I didnt see the doctor until 10am. When she saw me she said she looked over my file, and "couldnt find a clue why I was sick". She said my high white blood cell count indicates an active infection. She put me on some mild pain medication, muscle relaxant and simethecone to help my abdominal pain. No treatment plan for my high WBCs. I never heard back from her until I demanded from the nurse to contact her again in the afternoon. She called me at 4pm, and basically said she did not have a plan of treatment. Are you serious? Here I was bedridden, with no communication from this doctor and she tells me she has no idea whats causing my intense abdominal pain that was making me UNABLE TO WALK. She didnt even request any additional tests! I asked her if I could have a gastro-intestinal specialist consult. She said "weeelll Its Sunday afternoon and the doctors go home early". Are you kidding me? Why didnt you call the GI specialist before? Your patient HAS ABDOMINAL PAIN. Anyways, after we throw a fit, a GI doctor comes over. Spends maybe 5mins explaining to me that my labs are normal and Im the healthiest sick person in the world. He leaves. No more tests requested, still no plan of action. No treatment plan. This is about 12hours into my admittance to this hospital. I ask for a new medical team and I get a brand new clueless doctor. She has me set up for a CHEST X-RAY. I have ABDOMINAL PAIN. Incredible. I was flabbergasted. How does this story end? Well basically I ASK THE DOCTOR MYSELF to prescribe me some laxatives, perhaps those could help. Sure enough, they help enough to get me out of this hellhole of a hospital. Basically I treated myself, and cured myself. Thanks for nothing you lousy "hospital". Disgusting. P.S: the nursing staff was excellent. Kudos for them for understanding that the whole point of being in healthcare, is to help the patient.
