I had a very unpleasant experience at this hospital with the nurse practitioner (Katherine Martinez). All other staff was very polite and friendly. I cannot reiterate this enough. I went in late one night to the ER. Everyone else besides this particular nurse practitioner was nice and treated me with respect and dignity. I was in excruciating pain due to a bladder infection. I did not have a long wait, since there were no others waiting in the ER. Once she comes in to my room, she asks me a series of questions, instructs a nurse to start an IV, and then later before discharging me, writes a prescription. When leaving the hospital, I fill the prescriptions and take them accordingly. The next night, I still did not feel any better and went back to Methodist. The same practitioner (Katherine M) was on duty, and did not do anything differently from the previous night. I explained how much pain I was in, but she tells me that I am not in pain, as I was sitting up watching TV and not bent over, as I should be since I claimed to be in such excruciating pain. She offered to give me Morphine, and I politely told her I cannot be given narcotics, which I am deathly allergic to. My young nurse (Nicole who was very polite, helpful and rational) called her on the cell phone while in my room, and I could hear the nurse practitioner (Katherine M) screaming thru the phone, saying "What...does...she...want?!, WHAT DOES SHE WANT??" She was referring to me, the patient. This woman does not need to be employed as a nurse (or as any other professional) at any hospital. She is not professional at all, lacks patience, non-understanding and not very respectful, saying "this is NOT Burger King, so you cannot have it your way". Being a patient at a hospital, it was not necessary to mention Burger King in reference to my health/ treatment. I had no intentions of "having it [my] way", but would have liked to be treated with respect and dignity as the other staff (including my RN Nicole) treated me with. Bottom line is I will NOT go to this hospital for care anymore, because of this particular nurse practitioner who works late night shift

I want the world to know the care that my loved one received while being in Methodist hospital in Katy. The people were so professional, but caring. It began at the emergency room. I was called and told that my love one was in critical condition, that she was being taken to Methodist. When I entered the emergency room it was immediate attention with clear instruction from people who appeared to care about what I was experiencing. The doctor came shortly after I reached my love one and explained what had happened and what they were doing to treat the situation. Tests were taken and her condition was diagnosed promptly. It was a matter of minutes and we were off to the ICU. I want you to know, if you are ever in a life or death situation you would want to be with the ICU team at Methodist in Katy. There is a nurse there that I absolutely love, admire, respect and thank God for her existence. Her name is Karen H. She was so kind and caring towards my love one that was on her death bed. She kept her turned, clean, and comfortable while being timely with her medication. She gave my loved one comprehensive care. I mean she was selfless, sincere, scrupulous, and precise. Wow! I know you may find it hard to believe that in this day and time a person like her exists but she is real. She was a phenomenal nurse. I am not a writer, as I am sure you can tell, but this lady and Mike the nurse practitioner blessed my life during a very difficult time. I lost my love one but I can state without any hesitation that she received the best possible care. I plan on writing their supervisors to let them know that they have a couple of jewels and I truly hope they value them. Thank you for your time. Pastor Cathy

On 5/29 around 9 a.m. I had to go to the ER. There were possibly two other groups waiting to be seen when we arrived. However, once my husband checked me in an attendant came out and took my vitals. Not too long afterward (10 min max) we were sent to the back for triage. Once assessed I was taken back to a room for more tests. We did not wait long in between each test that was ordered (x-ray, CT scan and MRI) to be taken to the next test. All of the staff that interacted with us were very curteous and informative. Soon after all of these preliminary tests were ran I was admitted to the hospital for observation. The room I was given was fantastic. It was spacious, very organized and very clean. My husband was able to spend the night there with me on a couch that extends to make for more room. The staff offered extra pillows and blankets for him to use. Despite the fact that they had to take my vitals every four hours, they made every effort to not disturb my husband when they came in the middle of the night. The only slowness or delays were from being able to talk with the doctors, but thats typical in my experience (theres only so much of one person to go around). I would highly recommend this hospital and their staff for any kind of medical care. I felt completely cared for and all my needs attended.

The hospital staff aka nurses on the regular floors (5th) are horrible. My dad was admitted here with a life threatening issue from the ER and the nurses missed all of the instructions the Drs ordered. He was supposed to wear certain things at night, be given certain meds at certain times, etc all bc if not given his condition would deteriorate which ended us up in ICU just after 1 day after admission. He was to weak to stand, was incoherent, and had massive swelling all throughout his body which required assistance getting up etc but they would take 45+ minutes after the button was pushed to come, his alarams would sound yet no one would show up. The ICU nurses were way more efficient, knowledgeable and capable then the 5th floor and stayed on top of things and as soon as healthy enough to go back to other floor it all started again, just utter lack of responsiblitiy in their job and you can tell none of them want to be there as they arent passionate about the work. Horrible place to go, horrible regular nurses, and utter lack of compassion from in regards to their patients and basic human rights from the 5th floor nurses ... only reason its not 1 star is because of ICU nurses.

After several months of going to W. Houston Methodist Out-Patient Lab...I quit! Today, my last and final visit, I signed in as usual for those with "standing orders" and took my seat. While waiting, several new patients with new orders in-hand arrived and were taken back for blood samples. Finally, I asked if there was an issue with my standing orders to which a tech asked " Did someone ask you if you had orders on file? My response was "NO, I simply signed-in as always." With that the tech, now snarky, proceeded to tell me I should have told someone at the front desk about my on-file orders. There was NO ONE at the desk acting as if they worked there or even cared. Plus, signing-in has always been sufficient in the past. So, I walked out knowing there were any number of other Labs nearby and new orders were not a problem. If this had been the first time "customer service" had been questionable Id have shown more patience but on several other occasions those "working" acted totally clueless...maybe too much turnover and new trainees. No more "bi-polar" behavior for me. Lifes too short as it is.
