They treat everyone like the are on drugs. I would go to KU med because they help with the issues and try to fix your problems and use pharmacology as a last resort. On the other hand they are in Topeka and there are a lot of people using doctors for mesicines, so you kinda cant blame them. I understand where they are coming from but if a patient passes a drug test and there ktrac is normal then treat them normal and help them. Help the druggies and get them off the drugs and then they can get a better life. Everyone is different and some people actually need medicines to work or get through the work day. This hospital just needs better bed side manner and help each patient with the care there background shows. If they are on drugs help them but in a control manner because drug addicts will use drugs and get them if they want them and a good patient will find a good doctor if they need one. With everyone prescription medication should only be used if all other remedies have been exhausted. This is just my opinion! Take care and smile more

The ER here is a JOKE. If your not halfway dead when you come in here dont go. I was told specifically that I was told I could have a UTI test, blood work, and a CT scan. The second after that the nurse walk out, I was denied in every way and quickly checked out. You could be having symptoms of an anyeurism , stroke, tumor or anything else pertaining to truama and they would fully dismiss it on the idea that your heart is still beating and your not dead. Do not see Rachel Krob. Again, do not see Rachel Krob. Do not go to this hospital. I am nausiated and disgusted with their level of patient support. Furthermore, do not talk to Art Johnson about the medical practice he was appointed to manage. The poor idiot doesnt have a lick of sense to the medical profession, just listening to him talk was painful enough to need medication. Please just talk to him, Im sure hell let you know he has no idea what hes talking about.

This place is fantastic. Want to know what I love about this place? The hostility I get from the men and women that work here. I really loved the fact that the only way I could get somebody to go in the room was to hold my breath and cause the machine to freak out. I was not allowed to have anything to occupy my time so I was essentially trapped in the room. It was also great that they kept losing my insurance information so we had to give it to them multiple times. And their billing service is great as well. I just got a bill saying it was past due even though I am just now getting it? Better yet, it seems that they lost my insurance again because it says my insurance covered none of it even though it was confirmed that it would. Does anybody know how to do anything here? I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

I had a terrible time with a "hospitalist" (a randomly assigned doctor you probably just met) at Stormont-Vail. I would suggest it is far better to have someone you can trust, such as your own physician, than a total stranger who sees a new patient as just "another temporary customer". This is especially true if the patient is elderly or in very serious condition. In my opinion, the actions of Stormont-Vail fell woefully short of acceptable medical and ethical standards. I must tell you that what I experienced there was anything but a caring and professional hospital setting. In my estimation, the management is in dire need of change. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS I find no reason to recommend Stormont-Vail Hospital. I strongly urge you to look for a better option.

STAY AWAY FROM STORMONT-WEST THEY ARE THUGS IN WHITE COATS!! They forcibly took my nephew there, telling his mother that if she would not consent to the meds THEY wanted to use, they would put him into protective custody use them anyway and she would lose parental rights to him. The meds they wanted her to sign off on are not approved for anyone under 13 (he is 9) by either the manufacturer or the FDA, not to mention that people in a high risk category for diabetes, which he is, must have their blood sugar closely monitored for hyperglycemia. The nurse that was there during visitation did not have a clue about any of these things and was not sure if they would be able to monitor his sugar or not

While your doctors and nurses are amazing, your financial department is fricking rediculous. I called to set up a payment plan for a bill from when we took our son to the hospital and apparently what I could afford every pay day wasnt acceptable ($50 a month for a $500 bill). It is what I can afford and the lady that I spoke to said that basically I had to pay $100 a month which unfortunately with all of my other bills I cant afford. She wasnt willing to try to come up with any other solutions with me and was extremely rude when I told her repeatedly that I couldnt afford that. all Im wanting is to pay my bill at a payment price that I can afford.

On behalf of my family I wish to thank the entire staff of Stormont-Vail Hospital of the quality compassionate care provided to my Husband Gail L. (Bud) Riggin during his recent week long admission for pneumonia. Unfortunately, at nearly 90 years of age he lost his battle with pneumonia and pass quietly in the intensive care unit. It is hard to articulate the appreciation we have for the high level of professional care delivered and the genuine heart felt compassion demonstrated by staff and doctors during our time of pain and loss. Thank you all so much for all that you did for Bud, I and my entire family. Sincerely, Avis Riggin

Never go to this hospital for anything. It is mismanaged poorly done at all service levels. They are so incompetent. They care about money only. Patients are at risk at this facility for poor care, poor response. Very incompetent responses for anything. They make appointments without telling you. The doctors are not good there. Please save yourself time and give your business to anyone but this facility. Also they tried to kill my mother when she was there, but I was able to save her from their incompetence by being a big watchdog over their care. Giving meds without any authority. So sad this is medicine at its very worst.

Worst place ever after having my daughter by cesarean I was having stomach problems couldnt keep food down, bad stomach ache, they didnt check me just sent me home anyway. I went home and the pain became even worse went back to the ER they did an x-ray said I was constipated and sent me home. Lol my husband took me to St. Francis immediately after and they found a small tear in my lower intestine. Had surgery the next morning to repair it. Stormont had the nerve to send me a bill for 125.00 when I tried to contest they basically told me they did their job and they I need to pay the 125.00 Co pay. What a joke.

How do you people sleep at night?!? How can you charge $1,463 for a pediatrics room, per night? How about $667 for 2 nasal swabs? And $150 for a single nebulizer application? We spent the night at Stormont-Vail (less than 24h) for a more serious cold and we need to pay more than $3,000... This is outrageous! God knows how much you charge for a minor operation or a broken limb, if you ask for an arm and a leg for a runny nose. The personnel is so numerous, but they are professional and polite, that is why Im giving this rip-off hospital 2 stars.
