I recently got a puppy freshly weaned at 7 weeks old, and took her to see Dr. Catherine Lang at Midtown Veterinary Hospital for the post-adoption exam. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm hello, and the staff was very professional. The vet techs made me and my pup comfortable while we waited, and were very helpful explaining how MVH works since it was my first visit. First off, the location is a converted house, so you feel welcomed from the get-go as if youre walking into a friends house. Secondly, I can tell they truly love animals. This is apparent by the fact that they will go above and beyond to take care of your pet! My puppy had gotten a bad case of tick larvae on her skin that was just starting to hatch and consequently starting to leech. They voluntarily helped bathe her and got almost all of the parasites off. This was done without any complaining, and they even took time to verify the specific tick to know how to treat my pup. Third, Dr. Lang helped me understand why things were important and the different ways they would affect my puppy before making any decision how to treat her. She then shared with me a timeline of what to expect with regard to all the shots/medications/microchipping/spaying necessary to keep my pup happy and healthy. Finally, I have been in Houston for five years, and while I dont have a dedicated doctor for myself, I know I will only be going to Dr. Lang for my pup!

We adopted our dog about a year ago. She is 14 years old. We took her in to Midtown Veterinary for a whole workup and then, later, to have dental work done. We recently took her to another vet when we were out of town. While there, the vet informed us that the reason our dog was readjusting her mouth all the time was because she had a fractured tooth. She has been readjusting her mouth like that that since right after we took her in for the dental work at Midtown; we had just assumed she was not used to the feeling of her teeth thatd been pulled/cleaned. Once we found out why shed been doing that, I contacted Midtown and requested that they fix it as soon as possible. They replied, saying that it could have been caused by a few things, none of which our dog had been exposed to; she does not have hard toys, she does not chew, and we do not feed her hard food. They also said itd been too long since her appointment. Then, they tentatively scheduled our dog for an appointment to come in for the dental work without providing any notice to me. Given their previous response to me, Im sure they expected me to pay for their services to fix their error. Now, we are taking our dog to another vet to have her fractured tooth fixed. Shes probably been in pain for quite some time. I was very disappointed with their response.

My husband and I recently purchased an English Bulldog puppy who within a few short days, became quite ill. We had already decided on Midtown Vet Hospital based on the reviews as our primary vet, and over the weekend had to visit another emergency vet for an xray and antibiotics. On Monday we took our sweet puppy to see Dr. Ferrer and he kindly explained to us that the symptoms our dog was experiencing were related to a rare congenital anomaly with his trachea size, which was severe and not compatible with life. This news was utterly devastating. He didnt tell us what to do but kindly offered us other options and opinions. In the moment, everything seemed surreal, but looking back on our experience, I am struck by the kindness not only of Dr. Ferrer but of the staff who helped us lay our sweet new puppy to rest in the most comfortable way possible, no longer allowing him to suffer. I appreciate the kindness and empathy we were shown and when we get another pet in the future, I will certainly be going to Midtown Vet Hospital. I am sorry for the sad story, but the unexpected and unfortunate moments can hold such strong memories and I am truly thankful to have been so supported by these sweet people who had never met us before.

Very BAD experience there today. We went there for a heartworm test and a vaccination. The front desk (I think her name is Kelley) is very rude. Her eyes never left the computer screen and seemed very distracted. Not paying attention to the client and made your feel like you are just standing there like non-exist or air. Very disrespected to the customer. For the blood test, I don’t know if their staff were trained at all. They poke my dog twice to get the blood, and my dog screamed like crazy! My dog is never a baker, when he screams, he must be in a lot of pain. Worst of all, they didn’t seem to care at all. They didn’t comfort my dog - no words, no petting, treated my babe like a criminal. Ridiculously, after charging my credit card, Kelly even didn’t give me the receipt. I’d have to ask her to give me the copy of the receipt. And she gave a “F*** you” look on her face and went back to look on her computer. I mean come on, it is not difficult to remember to give your customer a receipt and you probably do that every day, YET you are too careless or maybe stupid to even do that right.

As a long time client of Midtown vet, I can now officially say "im done". I used to always be greeted with a smile by the front staff, and always had a follow up call after my appointments. Ive refereed them tens of thousands of dollars in business, b/c the vet care was always top notch, and I didnt mind spending the extra (extra) bucks at the clinic. Im tired of being overcharged significantly for the services they provide. The only reason why I have had to go twice in the last week is b/c the new vet I have been using was flooded in hurricane Harvey, and I needed immediate vet care. The parking is the WORST, my car has been damaged several times pulling in and out of the "lot", maybe I should send them the bill this time. After spending 325 bucks today, I wasnt even able to talk to the vet. The new staff is computer illiterate, and I just wanted to leave so badly today after my car was damaged in there lot I ended up just throwing money at them so I could leave (no invoice, b/c new staff cant use a darn computer). NO MORE!

I am very particular about who cares for my pets. I consider them my children, so I only want the best of the best to care for them. That being said, Dr. Clive does an excellent job at caring for my two bichons. My rescue is always really nervous when we go to any vet, but Dr. Clive and his assistants take the time to comfort her and give her treats. Dr. Clive takes his time to thoroughly explain my pets conditions and will even do research during the appointment time to find the best solution for my dogs. My other bichon recently tore his ACL and Dr. Clive emailed me articles to help me understand his diagnosis. It is easy to tell that he surely knows what he is talking about. I appreciate their effort to take their time to make us feel comfortable and explain my pets conditions in a way that anyone not in the medical/veterinary field can understand.
