I went to the Banfield Animal Hospital (19075 Interstate 45 S #114 Shenandoah, TX) because Thursday, March 21, 2013, I found a very emaciated dog, literally skin and bone. We took him to my primary vet to get him checked. He was fine and just needed to have water and food. On Monday, March 35, 2013, my cousins, husband and I took the dog to the Animal Hospital because he has severe diahhrea. When we arrived it was 4:45 pm. We signed in and the front desk told us they will be with us as soon as possible. We were a walk in and there were other appointments, so we understood we may be there a while. After an hour goes by, I asked the lady how much longer it may be because we had other things to do. She told us that in room 3 there was a dog that was having problems breathing and we were next in line, but failed to tell us that it was a surgery going on. If we knew this we would have known it was going to take a while longer and we could have made an appointment to come back another day. So we waited a little bit longer and the room finally cleared out. Next thing we know we see another dog being put into that room so I asked the front desk why they told us we were next but put another dog before us. They told us that dog had an appointment and I told them politely they could have told us that in the beginning because we were told we were next in line. There is also a sign that says injured or sick dogs are seen first due to safety issues for humans and other animals. This dog being nothing but skin and bone they still made us wait. Finally about 7:15 p.m. we got put into a room and waited 15 minutes for the assistant to come in and we told her we wanted to speak to the doctor before we performed any tests to see what the doctor recommends. 7:45 p.m. arrives and she walks back into the room telling us he is in the room next to us examining that dog, when we were supposed to be next and we were put in a room before that dog. she said he should only be 5 more minutes so we waited to 8 p.m. when we just had to leave. The room we were put in was not cleaned nor sterlized before we went in. There were balls of dog hair everywhere and my family left covered in dog hair. This made all of us angry because we are trying to foster this dog and get him back to health and he has a very weak immune system. We dont know what the previous dog(s) may have had and with the room not being clean, we dont know what could have been passed over to our dog or even ourselves. As we left the front desk said they were sorry that we couldnt wait any longer and I advised them to clean and sterilize there rooms before they take another animal in to prevent others from getting sick. They just said okay like they didnt even care. I am so angry with this place because they can practice infection control better and have better customer service and be courteous to their customers. If a dog is in surgery let them know its gonna be a few hours before they can get us in. We waited 3 and a half hours there going home with no answers.

Im really mad about @Banfield branch (and the one at 140 FM 1960 Rd E, Houston, TX 77073) because I never got a good service from them, for example, I made an appointment for my dog via their website and at the time to get there they just said that there was not the correct way for make an appointment, I supposed to get a call from them to confirm the appointment -call that I never got and the attendant confirm, they never call me- so, while the doctor is tooooo busy I can have an appointment next week. I talked to the Petsmart Manager but he said that they are independent from them, in fact I always get good attention regards Petsmart but no -at all- @Banfield. A friends of mine took their dog to that @Banfield because the dog suffer constipation, the veterinarian put a suppository and after a few hours their dog begin to bleed so he called Banfield to let them know and they said that is normal, the next day the dog was still bleeding so he call again and he got the same answer..... in the third day -and the dog still bleeding- he call again and got the same answer, a few minutes latter he got a call from a doctor to let them know that that bleeding is not normal and they need to took the dog as soon as posible to the hospital. Needless to say they were furious and complained to the hospital for such awful service apart from the expencive cost that they had paid for the consultation at first.

Staff very friendly and accommodating for emergencies. I prefer this location over my coveted Tomball location because the staff is over the top when it comes to caring for your pet. They answered every single question I had (I did a dropoff emergency visit). Dr. Box even called me personally and answered questions and asked for permission to run tests, and thats in addition to the other tests I requested. He advised me of cost up front. Dr. Box has a great bedside manner with patient and pet parent. Shelby is my Fave tech of all time. She is on top of it! Dani is amazing at the reception area and runs that place (sometimes solo) efficiently and with such a great attitude. Jamie the office manager is such an asset to the practice. She is compassionate over the phone, and was able to find a drop off slot during an emergency situation (not always possible because theyre a high volume office). She truly exhausts every option before turning a patient away. Although this facility is highly qualified for many situations, you must remember they are Not an emergency room. Dont let the name mislead you. Thanks yall and well return!

i tried to make an appointment to have my dogs anal glands expressed, they told me i dont have to make an appointment for that, just bring her in. Well I dont really like to just "wing it", so I called in the morning to see what would be the best time to bring her, they told me 12pm or 1pm, but that anytime would be ok today. I brought her at 1pm. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting to hand her over. The "tech" finally acknowledged me, and said " oh I dont know if anybody is here to do that. I explained I was told to bring her in at 1pm. They couldnt care less. They were unconcerned with the fact that we waited so long, that we were told to bring her at that time. They said NOTHING!!! They did not even try to tell me when a good time to bring her would be. They just didnt care at all. They Suck!!!!

THESE PEOPLE ARE BUSINESS ORIENTED. NOT CARE ORIENTED. THEIR MAIN JOB IS TO SUCK AS MUCH MONEY OUT OF YOU AS POSSIBLE FOR LABS AND OTHER DIAGNOSING FOR THE COMPANY. MY CAT DIED AND THEY WERE TOTALLY UN SYMPATHETIC. I ALLOWED BLOOD WORK TO BE DONE FOR DIAGNOSING AND THEY STILL COULDNT TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG. CHARGED ME FOR EXPENSIVE MEDS, AND A FEW DAYS LATER MY CAT DIED. NO WARNING FROM THEM THAT SHE WAS GOING TO DIE SO SOON. THEY CLAIM THEY DIDNT KNOW, BUT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONALS. I RECOMMEND GOING TO A VET THAT HAS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, MAYBE FAMILY OWNED,INDIVIDUAL OWNER. I HATE THIS PLACE AND WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANY MORE BUSINESS.
