If I could give this hospital less stars I would! I was released from the telemetry floor yesterday (Fri 28th Jan 2011) after a weeks stay. I cannot begin to express my outrage!! I told each new patient that shared my room (or their family), if they wanted help to seek a transfer immediately!! I am 44. I was never blessed with the best health and congenital heart failure runs in my family. I have had over 5 surgeries on my heart in the past at other facilities (mainly in Houston, Tx). I went to NE Methodist Friday night and was released the next morning to return if I became worse. I did. I began vomiting, and was specifically instructed to return. Throughout my stay I witnessed much incompetence not only towards myself but several other patients. As I continued to wake vomiting every morning, a nurse said to me "maybe you are detoxing from something". I was incredulous~!! Did they not have my blood and urine? Did they not analyze it? Oh, but then perhaps they did not because my last day there a 78 yr old woman was brought in to my room (a room that very obviously was originally meant for 1). I could only cry for this family. The lady was ill and her doctor out of country. But I actually heard with my own ears Dr Guderian tell this family "She has a lump on her pancreas. Its probably cancer (probably??!!). No one will give her chemotherapy. It will cost millions." ...and basically with that, he was off. The same doctor that said I must be eating something because I was vomiting. Really? I might be simple, but could it be that yall are pumping me with fluids intravenously? They wouldnt even look at the contents. In fact frequently I lay for hours in soiled sheets with whatever I was lucky enough to find to vomit in (bed pan, emiss basin). They would come in with towels or sheets and say they would be back only to never return. My bed was on an alarm so I couldnt get up and down as needed without assistance, but let me call them to go to the restroom and they would walk me there (sort of) and then disappear before I could finish. I had to empty other peoples "hat" in order to place mine in the toilet. Of course it happened... while I was staying, on Thursday morning, I heard the worst sound a loud crash and an older person cry. She had fallen and the nurses were all saying "Oh, a broken hip". Well, its no wonder. I will say dietary staff was nice and there were some kind nurses, but if kindness healed I guess I wouldnt need a hospital. I wont even begin to tell you what it was like going for procedures, suffice it to say I was in a CTscan and because I had been NPO (without food or drink after midnight) and because I had vomited that morning, my uvula (hangy thing in the back of your throat) was stuck in my throat with me lying flat on my back and it felt as tho the uvula had stuck in my throat and was especially difficult to breath or swallow, the man running the test was incredibly condescending and unsympathetic. Please, for the love of God find a witchdoctor before you take your beloved family here!

Yesterday (09/16/2014) I had the Brilliant idea to fall down a flight of 15 stairs at home. Being a Disabled Vet, with a broken back, my wife took me to the E.R. The young ladies at the check in ( dont know if they were RNs ) jumped into action. I was immediately put in a wheel chair and rushed into an exam room. I had a head wound and the RN on duty quickly started to treat the situation at its chance of being a worst case scenario. The RN on duty was SANDRA GONZALEZ. I am a registered Dental assistant and a trained billing and coding tech. So, I have some idea of the process of treating a head wound and possible spinal injuries. I dont think that RN Gonzalez could have done a better job. She was amazing in not only treating me, but also keeping my wife calm. Im disabled due to 3 crushed disks in my spine, so my wife was quite nervous. My hats off to RN Gonzalez! She is amazing. Wish there were more like her!!! ***After writing first half of this review, I read the other reviews. I couldnt disagree more***. We retired to this area of the city because of the location close to med facilities. When it comes to E.R. though, I am to far from Audey Murphy VA Hosp so we go here. I have never had better care in both the E.R. as well as when I was admitted for 12 days due to blood clots shutting down 2 of my colon sections. My only disappointment is when it comes to pain meds. Due to a broken back, which caused my military retirement, I take a LOT of opiates for pain management. The staff is reluctant to give me more than the usual patient receives because my body is so used to them that I have a high tolerance to pain meds. It has been very difficult to convince them to give me higher doses which is understandable. We have lived here for 7 years now and this is the only E.R. we go to because it is close to the house and I wouldnt go to another hospital even if it was only 10 feet from my door. ***Keep up the good work!!!***
