I had the sudden realization that what I thought was a minor lump on my back was actually a serious deeply embedded infection. I was between jobs, had no insurance, and was facing huge medical bills if I went to a hospital. I discovered the Sora Medical Clinic on the web and liked their reviews and fixed non-insurance based pricing. I was especially delighted to meet Doctors Michael Hellemn and Laura Frye, who performed out-patient surgery to remove the infected tissue from my back, and treated the infection to its successful elimination. Both doctors were incredibly kind in their bedside manner, and generously devoted their time and energy to healing me. They were very skilled, observant, and thorough, and they helped keep my physical discomfort to a minimum. They were open to my questions and concerns, and I never felt rushed. Over the course of my treatment, it was a pleasure to get to know Dr. Hellemn and Dr. Frye as people as well as doctors. You will find them open, sharing, and communicative. Most physicians charge each time you see them. Sora Medical Clinic has fixed prices for particular procedures. Their method of charging was especially appealing to me because I could budget my resources, and they offered very competitive rates tied with their exceptional service. When they did charge additional fees (only for off-premises lab analysis), they previewed them with me for costs versus benefits, and initiated the work only with my permission (the lab costs were very reasonable as well). This attention to my financial well-being as well as my physical health is a rare thing to find in the medical profession, and it appears other patients appreciate this approach as well. The Sora Medical Clinic office staff treated me nicely, and their nurses were always friendly. They are open 7 days a week. I intend to use this clinic for my future medical needs, and highly recommend it to all. Go Sora Medical Clinic! As an aside, I discovered Dr. Hellemn has written a very easy-to-read book titled “All-Natural Weight Loss” which promotes a healthier approach to eating. He doesn’t carry it in his office, but you can find copies for sale on-line. It’s well-written and it helped me be more conscious of my eating habits.

hubby called in by phone to request for a disabled plate due to leg issues difficulty walking during one visit several months ago. was told No problem, just come right in, just pay the fee for the visit! When he got to the office, apparently the lady that he talked to wasnt there and a man on the front desk told him Who told you that? Then he went to explain that they will not be able to write him a prescription for a disabled plate unless he sees their specialist and he needs to go through therapy with that specialist. And even if they give him a disabled plate, it will only be temporary. And if he does therapy, he may not even need to get a disabled plate. Since hubby was extremely hesitant to go therapy for a sciatica ailment that has been healed, he only had a weak leg and cant walk far, he decided to bear and grin it. So for months, hubby suffered walking from the back of the parking to the front door and had to stop several times to rest his leg until he can get to the front door of the building. Hubby never attempted anymore to get a disabled plate due to the experience from this clinic thinking you need to be a specialist and need to go to therapy. After several months, when he couldnt bear the tiredness anymore, hubby finally went to his primary care physician, who wrote out a prescription in one visit, permanent at that, filled out application for the disabled plate, went to the registration office, and got the disabled placard. That easy and that fast, no hassle given by his primary. Another thing with them, they are not really cheap. They used to be at $40. For $75 a visit, you will have a long wait time in the room with almost a feeling that they have forgotten you. Then when the doctor do come in, no physical examination is being done, a little chat here or there, some questions and then a prescription for OTC strength medicine (naproxen, acetaminophen anyone?). Yes it is a doctor who sees you and not a nurse but with the service that they offer, what is the difference with them or seeing a nurse from the Minute Clinic in CVS for just $55? Same service, same prescription, and cheaper.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Dr Hellemn prescribed medication for the chronic medical issue I have and didnt so much as acknowledge the issue that I actually went in for. I repeatedly mentioned the issue I actually went in for and he completely ignored what I said and kept talking about my chronic problem and the fact that diabetes runs in my family then pushed his weight loss/diabetes book. It made me feel like he was calling me fat (I am muscular, not fat). I imagine it was probably because of my family history, but it just didnt come across that way. He also wanted to run blood tests for the chronic problem and, since that actually needed to be done because it had been awhile, I consented. The woman who drew my blood left a black bruise the size of a fifty cent piece on my arm. ETA: I wish I could reply, but I cant so Im adding this for the people thinking about going to your clinic. You seem to be under the impression that Im mad because I didnt get the medication I wanted. I didnt protest when you told me it was a controlled medication. I honestly didnt know. Im mad because I already eat a low carb diet. I have a labor instensive job. I have working muscle which is muscle covered in a layer of fat, but MOST OF ALL I went in for a horrible pain in my neck so bad that I couldnt turn my head and I couldnt sleep because of the amount of pain I was in. I dont have the money to go to an ER so I went to this clinic and NO ONE SO MUCH LOOKED AT MY NECK OR TOLD ME WHAT THEY THOUGHT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE. I ended up having to go to the ER anyway and had to have a CT scan. Also, the nurses in the ER were horrified by my bruise and the ER doctor, who did all sorts of strength, range of motion, and reflex tests before deciding on a CT scan was disgusted when I told him none of that had been done by the doctor I saw at Sora. I will be calling about that refund asap.

I would have given zero stars for Dr Frye at this clinic. If you want to be treated like garbage and yelled at, please go see Dr. Frye. I have been going there for some time now, and I was working and had the person I live with call and ask for a refill for one of my prescriptions. (This medication they have led me to believe that I have to come back every month and pay $75 for a refill (with a couple of exceptions including here), although I know people who take this medication and do not have to go back to their doctors every month, which I now consider financial abuse of me as a patient) I didnt even speak to Dr. Frye about this refill (the person I live with did) and when I went into her office to see if I could have it printed and removed from the pharmacy it was at to save myself $18 she came out and yelled at me to "get into the patient room" and pointed at one with her finger, she followed me in there and shut the door and began yelling at me about wasting her time and getting her to "call around and price shop pharmacies for me" which is something that I didnt even do and on top of that I wasnt even the one who talked to her about my refill, the person I live with did while I was at work. I have NEVER been treated this badly by ANYONE and she did not even give me a chance to talk, she simply chewed me out. This happened 6/24/2017. Go there at your own risk. Dr. Frye has acted so incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful to me as a human being that I will never set foot back in her office again.
