The only disappointing experience with an OBGYN I have ever had. First, dont expect to be greeted by the medical assistant at the desk, she sits there fiddling with files as if you arent even worthy of a "hello". Instead, expect to literally stand there as you fill out the "Reason for visit" form in front of the medical assistant and then be prepared to have to say the reason for visit out loud because apparently they forgot: 1) you called to make the appointment days in advance and 2) you just filled out the "reason for visit" form. Second, be prepared to wait well past your appointment time to even give your urine sample. Appointment times are never upheld and run at least one hour behind the slotted time. After providing a urine sample, your sample is placed in a sink with the rest of the days samples that have not been discarded. My appointment was well into the afternoon and at least nine other samples were sitting in the sink despite that I was the only one in the waiting room for over an hour. After finally getting to the room, be prepared to wait again. Then be prepared to rush the discussion for the reason for visit (as if a phone call, reason for visit form, verbally telling the medical assistant in a room full of people wasnt enough) as the doctor calls you "baby", "sweetheart" and/or "honey". I dont feel comfortable just because you call me pet names, my name is on my chart and Id like to be called by that. Additionally, the doctor leaves the door wide open in what is already a very small office to discuss the reason for visit. I personally felt like I could not open up about my situation due to the communication style not only with the doctor, but staff and finance personnel as well. By the way, Im sitting right here in your procedure room hearing your 10-minute conversation with your business partner in the hallway, instead of getting patients in and out in a courteous and professional manner. The post-visit is an extension of the in-office visit. I had to call over 15 times to receive blood work results that I took nearly a week ago. This was not an error on the labs part, solely the lack of urgency on the medical office behalf in providing a courtesy call to discuss the results. I personally called Quest Diagnostics after waiting three days and a lie from the finance person at the medical office. I was lucky enough to get a representative from Quest Diagnostics to look into my visit and confirmed the results were sent to the medical provider two days prior to my inquiry. I was bounced around and told to call back numerous times by the medical office over a two-day period. I would not recommend this practice to anyone and will be seeking a professional practice immediately. Do not compromise your health and mental well-being by thinking this is the only practice in San Antonio.

Dr Bhatia has been my gynecologist for nearly four years. I drive to the other side of town and way out of my way to see her. When I first met her, I was not impressed with the office because she is in an old office building....Office Decor is not a great indicator of a doctors abilities and if you think this, you will miss out on the absolute best doctor I have ever had. I am older so I have no experience with Dr Bhatia as a baby delivery doctor. My experience is strictly medical for post child bearing years. I have had Novasure, Esure and currently am enrolled in her BioTE Hormone program. When getting prepared for the Novasure procedure, Dr Bhatia noticed I had a blood pressure issue. She called me at home from her personal cell phone the night before the procedure to check on how my blood pressure was doing. She was concerned enough to have the anesthesiologist call me. After careful consideration and monitoring, the procedure eventually was done but that one act of caring is something that no other physician has ever given me. I have been to many doctors and I am not easy to please. I am a very picky person. Dr Bhatias staff is always kind and friendly to me. The office may not be new and full of fancy furniture, but it is clean and all the medical equipment is top notch and up to date. Dr Bhatia is always looking for the newest techniques. The BioTE hormone treatments are doing a marvelous job for my hormone imbalance at the onset of menopause. I am grateful to Dr. Bhatia for suggesting it. With the new regulations coming with the Affordable Care Act, many doctors are leaving their practices because they cannot afford to take patients with many of the insurance contracts out there. If she doesnt take your insurance, its not the Dr.s fault, its just the contract. I highly recommend Dr. Bhatia to anyone wanting a great doctor that you can really talk to and build a personal relationship. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and personable and has never been rude to me, nor has her staff. Im not sure why some of the other patients have written what they have but I can only guess they were just having a bad day or they might have caught Dr. Bhatia on a bad day. None the less, she is a great doctor. Dr Bhatia is an tenured instructor at The University of Texas Health Science Center. Those are credentials that are hard to come by.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bhatia for around ten years. She is not just a professional... that word is far to cold and uncaring for her. She has the knowledge and experience to be considered a great doctor, but she has a huge heart which makes her an exceptional person that I am proud to have as my gynecologist. Who brags about her OBGYN? I DO! Why you may ask? In addition to helping me stave off cancer (which I owe her my life for) she found that the birth control I was on had some newly discovered side effects. Because she stays current and on top of the journals and studies, she found that I was at risk for low bone density. She told me that I needed a bone scan. My insurance company said I was ay too young to need a bone scan but that did not stop her. She told me that if the insurance wouldnt cover the bone scan then she would pay for it herself. Dr. Bhatia is one of those rare doctors that truly puts the patient first. Yes, at times you will see doctors other than Dr. Bhatia there, she helps to mentor new doctors, if you get one take it as a compliment, because you are now helping that doctor as much as they are helping you. If ever you feel uncomfortable speak up. One time a male doctor stepped into the room instead of Dr. Bhatia. I politely told him and Mona (one of the nurses on staff) that I dont feel comfortable with a male OBGYN, they understood 100% and made it right. Not only is Dr. Bhatia wonderful but her staff is also sweet and caring. Every time I go in to her office I look forward to hearing the fab trio of Angie, Mona and Angie (yes, there are two Angies) greet me by name. They are always smiling and no matter what the procedure, they all keep the patients spirits high. At Dr. Bhatias office you are not a number, a paycheck or an insurance claim, you are a person with thoughts, feelings, questions and many times fears... voice them with full assurance that Dr. Bhatia and her staff will do everything that they can to make sure that what is best for you and your health happens. Thanks to them I am living breathing proof of that.
