Over two years ago, when I first started my fertility journey, I initially became a patient at another facility in town. (RMA). After four unsuccessful IUIs, I took one year off, and when I decided I was ready to start fertility treatments again, I decided to consider changing fertility centers. (Primarily because I felt that although the staff at the other facility had been friendly, it was almost a "fake" friendly, and that with exception to Dr. Brown, the physicians at RMA were uninvolved and often hurried. I work in health care, so I get it… but as a patient, I felt that communication there had really been subpar.) However, despite my frustrations with RMA, I was not completely committed to the change. I made my appointment at FCSA as a "trial". So when I got to the waiting room and waited for quite some time I whispered to my husband, "strike one". I also contemplated a "strike two" because unlike RMA (which was extremely "frou frou"), the facility in which FCSA is housed is older, less modern, and frankly not as inviting. But then when we were brought into an office to meet with Dr Martin, and it was a "home run"!! He was so kind and personable. He made us feel like people, not numbers or patients without names. He spent an hour with us, answering questions, explaining the complexities of fertility. Again, I work in health care, and I have never known a physician to spend that much time with any patient. Ever. And it made our wait (the first "strike" acceptable! If waiting happens because the docs are spending quality time with the patients, and Ill get the same treatment when I get to have their attention, Im okay with it!) At our first place, when my (engineer) husband had LOTS of questions, we were offered a fast-paced power-point that used medical terminology and lingo that left him feeling very out of the loop. Dr. Martin didnt have a powerpoint, but he pulled out a piece of paper and began to draw on it, explaining different biological processes - in very simple, easy to follow terms. My husband felt SO included and relieved to have a better understanding of the challenges we face. We decided we wanted to wait about two more months before starting the IVF process, but they went ahead and gave us all of the things we would need when we did decide to get started… including a little booklet that explained various fertility treatments, options, terminologies, etc. etc. We are now a couple of weeks into our IVF cycle, and I couldnt be more pleased. Ive found the communication during this process at Fertility Center of SA to be so much better than the communications I had ever before at the previous facility. I am so happy with my choice, and I am confident that I am in great hands!!

I shared this on yelp last year and I meant to share it on Google as well! We visited Dr. Retzloff after our twins were born and I wondered if he would recognize us (it had been nearly a year!) and he did. I actually saw through the window the nurse tell him who came to visit and saw his face light up. That just goes to show how much he cares about his patients! He doesnt forget them, even after theyve finished at the clinic. Wonderful doctor! 3/24/2016 My husband and I have had the best experience working with the doctors, nurses and staff members at this office. Dr. Retzloff is our main doctor and I cant even express how fantastic he is! He really takes the time to listen to all of your questions and take your concerns seriously. During our initial consult appointment, he and the other staff members spent over 3 hours with us going through our history, doing an exam, and talking through all the options. Dr. Retzloff went over my medical history page by page (I have a long medical history) to make sure he didnt miss anything. We had moved from California and I was so sad to leave my other fertility clinic, so it was such a relief to find this center! We have gone through both IUIs and the IVF process with this clinic and had a great experience all around. Ive been able to meet all of the nurses and they are all so wonderful! So warm and friendly, you can tell they really care about their patients. Dr. Martin did our egg retrieval and he did a fantastic job. Dr. Neal also stopped in to "meet the new patients" and he was very friendly. We even met the embryologist, Dr. Pool and you can tell he is passionate about the work he does. Also, the finance team is very upfront about the costs, when youll need to pay, and researching what your insurance will/wont cover. We all know infertility treatments are costly, so this was refreshing to know ahead of time. Last of all, depending on your appointment you will have to wait. The afternoon appointments always run late, Mondays mornings are slammed and other morning appointments are normally on time. For all of my IVF appointments, Id grab the earliest morning appointment and they always had me in and out. I was never late for work, it was wonderful!

Thank you Dr. Neal and Dr. Martin - because of you I now have two beautiful twin girls who are nearly two months old. Im not really sure where the bad reviews come from, honestly I went to a different fertility clinic here in San Antonio before coming here and I sincerely felt like I was cared about by EVERYONE from the person checking me in down to the nurses and ultrasound techs. The other fertility center tried to tell me they didnt take insurance and would need me to pay the $5000 for IVF upfront even though my insurance would pay for it, and even if I paid out of pocket that insurance probably wouldnt reimburse me. I never had any problems with the billing staff or the front office while attending. Because my husband is an RN, Im probably more critical of the care I receive at different clinics and this was one of the best clinics Ive been to. We are moving out of state, and Ive decided if I ever go through IVF again it will be here. When I found out I was pregnant I felt like the nurses TRULY cared. They remembered me, remembered my name, and made me feel like they truly cared. Yes, you do see a Nurse when you go to your appointment but the Dr always looks at your charts to decide what the next route is - and most of the time I saw Dr. Neal during my appointment, it was more rare that I didnt see him. And, to say he only deals with the easy cases? I would disagree. I had endometriosis. We were a more difficult case due to I was 27 and because I had surgery for endo there was no real reason why we werent getting pregnant. I got pregnant with 1 round of IVF with ICSI after having failed tons of rounds of Clomid with timed intercourse, and 3 iuis.

I cannot put into words how truly amazing the Fertility Center of SA is! We have been through a few procedures with them, some that did not end happily and EVERY SINGLE person we encountered in this office was kind, caring, empathetic and patient with us during our grieving process. Once we were ready to try again, we felt as though each doctor took their time assessing our problems and offering collective solutions. We felt important, and during an emotional time such as those you go through with fertility specialists, you want to feel important. We have been to this office so many times during the past almost 2 years and we have always been greeted with enthusiasm and kindness! From their receptionist, every medical assistant, each nurse, all the doctors, embryologists, ultrasound technicians, phlebotomist, billing, and anyone else behind the waiting room doors (we actually know all their names but didnt want to leave anyone out)! We never felt like were just $$$ to anyone there. We could not have asked for a better group of professionals to be on this journey with! Yes their success rates are amazing, but so is the ENTIRE staff! I wouldnt even consider another office (and I have consulted with a few). Rest assured, I do not give reviews...but I chose to give this one because I mean it, and choosing a Reproductive Specialist is an important decision. I wanted to make certain I shared my absolute gratitude towards Fertility Center of SA in hopes I can help other people find the right place for them.
