Love, Love, Love Dr. Bourland! She has been treating my oldest since she was 5 yes old and my youngest since she was born. This is my absolute favorite pediatrician! When my oldest was born she had severe issues with her weight. She was breastfed and with every check-up she was declining in weight range. We were seeing a different pediatrician at the time and we tested and considered numerous options. We even tried feeding her rice cereal a bit early to help her gain weight, but the poor baby was allergic and broke out in hives. After 6 months, and her weight dropping from the 30th percentile at birth to the 6th percentile, I decided to make a change and search for a pediatrician who would be more diligent in her efforts to find a solution. I did some research and found Dr. Bourland while she was still working with another office. I was impressed by our first visit and just a week later my daughter was vomiting, dehydrated, and Dr. Bourland advised us to go to the hospital. My daughter was there for 3 days while they monitored her and ran tests and although we never determined what the issue was, Dr. Bourland had a sense of urgency that I never experienced with the previous pediatrician. I was immediately put at ease that I made the right decision in changing doctors. That was 5 years ago and even after moving from SA to Houston and now to Dallas, Dr. Bourland is still the only pediatrician I trust with my kids and we have been back twice for visits since I relocated. Dr. Bourlands office is one of the few I can call with an emergency and get an appt same day. Her staff is friendly and helpful and I always feel at home when Im there. They are on time for appointments and her diagnosis is quick, but ALWAYS accurate. I will need to look for a local pediatrician soon, but my family and I will miss Dr. Bourland dearly and will always remember her fondly. You cannot find a better and more caring doctor for your kids.

Dr B had been our doctor since the birth of our child. She was fantastic in the beginning. I no longer trust her to be our pediatrician. She began to be intrusive in child upbringing beyond her boundaries... such as the types of video games played. Look, if someone has strong opinions on guns, fine. But that is not the Doctors call. My child is brought in for an annual check up, I dont appreciate being quizzed on the social decisions I make in their upbringing. I know it can sometimes be a grey area, but she clearly oversteps her comments and questioning. It started to feel like an interrogation. I didnt appreciate paying for one thing, and being challenged on unassociated issues. But what really did it for me was when I caught her lying. She told me the law said my child had to ride in the back with a booster seat. In Texas, for my childs age and size, they are not. When I told her that was not true, she changed her statement and said it is strongly recommended. Then she went on to say that her son in middle school is still in a booster seat in the back. Again... beyond the scope of her job to decide this for our family (or comment on). Sure its safer. But its safer for everyone to be in the back, not just kids. Does she ride in the back all the time? Her husband? Probably not. And if she thinks that shooting games are bad for the psychology of a child, then what about the teasing they get for being in middle school and in a booster seat? If she wants to tell the kids to eat their veggies and fruits, fine. Why ask them? Give them advise, dont conduct interrogations. Parents dont like to fight with someone they are paying. And DONT lie! She needs to get that activist chip off the shoulder and be more service orientated. Pick up the picket signs on her own time; not on time I am paying for.

Heard great things and started at the hospital fine, but after 2 weeks my LO was struggling to latch. I do not feel that Dr B was encouraging of my breastfeeding (although Ive previously breastfed 2 years). She made sure to tell me how I could be charged with murder if I slept with my LO and rolled over. Ok, thanks for that conversation. She told me at 2 months "Start putting her in her own room and crib! Although the ACA says its best to co-sleep for a year.... dont." Gave me a guilt trip about co-sleeping, but contradictorily, and in the same breath mentions that its recommended by the Academy of Pediatrics. Who does that? Finally, I requested the vaccine inserts with the ingredients for my LOs shots (as I have always done with my fully vaccinated children) and they brought me the standard computer printout and started her shots. --not what I asked for, not the service I paid for, not ok! She will push her personal feelings about parenting on you. If you dont mind that, or parent the same way she does, you may enjoy her as a dr. I do not. Currently researching a new pediatrician.

Dr. Bourland is one of best doctor Ive ever met. She was referred by our friend. When my husband gave her a call and told her we needed a pediatrician (I was in labor) she didnt hesitate, didnt ask for our insurance (first question every practice ask, which drives me nuts!), but told us shell see us the next day. This is the kind of doctor you can depend on and trust with your baby. She accepts you with passion and wholeheartedly no matter who you are. Every questions we have, she answered it with honesty. She is very professional, dedicated and very kind. Also, she has great team of people. Front desk, they are awesome! Never had problem with setting up an appointment, or even rescheduling. They do respect your time, never waited more than 10mins. I just love Acorn Pediatric. I cant thank them enough with all the great services they provided especially for my little one!!

Dr Bourland is very caring, knowledgeable, and available. My son has seen her since his birth 4 years ago. There have been countless times where we called or walked in at 8am because he was sick and we were new parents with no clue. They always managed to see us that day, she even stayed late once, bless her. We now take our daughter to her as well. Although, there are fewer urgent 8am visits because weve gotten the hang of this parent thing thanks in part to her help educating us about varies childhood illnesses. I do refer all my family and friends to this practice.

Dr. Bourland is an incredible doctor. My Children have been seeing her for over 3 years now. She is very thorough, knowledgeable, kind, and sensitive to each childs needs. Her new practice, Acorn Pediatrics, is wonderful. The staff is incredibly friendly, and helpful! We moved about an hour away from her location, but I refuse to take my children to see any else besides her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Pediatric Doctor!!

I have been taking my son to see dr Bourland at her previous location since he was born and I am very happy with her, she is super nice and very informative. I have brought both my son and new baby to see her at this new location and the staff is friendly and competent with minimal wait to see the doctor. I will definately be sticking with this doctor for many years to come!
