Dont call after hours... Background: Our cat was caught in a gate and panicked; my wife and I both were bitten and scratched in our efforts to free the cat. We went to see our doctor. We were each given a tetanus shot, an antibiotic shot, and prescribed a ten day cycle of antibiotics. The Doctor or PA (not certain which, as they dont make it very clear at this place) emphasized the aggressive treatment because cat bites can becomes infected quickly, and said to contact them immediately if we see a change for the worse, stating that these can "really get bad in a matter of hours". I stated that my wife had previously been hospitalized for infections, including a life threatening bout with sepsis. The Dr/PA said that is even more reason to stay on top of this. Situation: Tonight, my wifes hand is swelling, hot to the touch, and there seems to be a visible movement of an infection, i.e. a bulging type of swelling. So I call the after hours phone number. Strike 1: The answering service attendant interrupts me to let me know that the Doctors only call back when there is an emergency; gives me the impression that he wants to discourage me from paging the on-call Doctor. I have him page the Doctor. Interestingly, the answering service called me back to see if the Doctor had called yet - prior to the Doctor calling; I assume he missed his target timeframe for a call back. Strike 2: Doctor calls me. He seems annoyed and makes a point not once, but twice to reference the time. Strike 3: He asks me whether this is an emergency. My response is "I Dont know, thats why I am calling you." I explained that I am trying to stay on top of this based on the guidance given me in the office. I also asked whether my wifes history with blood infections is sign of heightened risk. What I get in return is a series of CYA statements punting back to me to handle as I see necessary. But he provided no guidance, i.e. no if it looks like this, or if she gets a fever, or any other trigger that might be a reason to seek emergency care. Nothing. Absolutely no value added contribution whatsoever. And then he finished with telling me that if I wanted her to be seen tomorrow, I could call the office - WOW, I didnt realize I could do that. Overall - bad attitude coupled with no advice, beyond using the phone tomorrow. Im going to take him up on that and use my phone to find a new provider for my family in The Woodlands.

Grandpa B
Excellent experience. This is from a Grandpa that has suffered the loss of a four year old in 1971 and therefore skeptical of all Doctors for little guys. We had to get a quick appointment for our grandchild because of a continued situation with low grade fever and just feeling bad for a three year old. We were pleasantly surprised with the quickness of getting an appointment - extremely short wait time in office - extremely short wait in the exam room waiting on doctor - child was tested for possible reason of infection and the results were quick. We are in the next day after seeing the Doc and report that was prescriber was right on target - The child is like a totally different person today. Excellent diagnosis, prescription of what was needed. The Doctor asked many questions about other family members during the exam - was very gentle and kind to a very shy little person which achieved a positive experience for this child because there will be NO fear of Doctors in the future from this visit. Excellent all around. This is coming from someone that has been through much sickness over the years with our own children and grand children and many others in the family. Highly recommend these folks to help your family. A Bit of advice from an older person when you visit the Doctor - Tell them ALL of the things that you are feeling that may be a little different in your life. One of those minor comments may trigger a test for you that may should have been done to achieve a complete diagnosis of your particular situation. Great Experience at the Panther Creek location by Dr. Small!

Overall, Village Medical is easy to get into on short notice and generally prompt with lab results or prescriptions. Ive had quite a few positive experiences with Village Medical Center but the last couple of months have been different. I really liked the doctor I got to see, but she forgot to call in all 3 of my prescriptions and I had the last appointment of the day, so by the time I made it to the pharmacy to have them tell me the prescriptions werent there, the offices were closed and I had to wait until the next day. Ordinarily that wouldnt be a huge deal, but when it has to do with pain and difficulty breathing without an inhaler, its different. I called in the next day and they got 2/3ds of my prescriptions filled promptly but the last one was, again, forgotten. I called to ask them to please call in my inhaler and the reception staff was exceptionally rude. Im already having a bit of a hard time managing with the pain and all and it was just the cherry on top of a terrible week to have that woman speak to me so condescendingly. I dont have much of a choice to go back, the convenience is unmatched, but theres no reason to treat patients that way. Theyre probably already not happy about having to be going to the doctor, the last thing they need is to be hassled for trying to get their prescriptions when they werent filled when promised in the first place.

Service in both offices declining for years. Front desk personnel are never friendly and can be just plain rude. Doctors rush you through and have no time for questions. If x-rays or other tests are suggested, be sure you ask if the results will be read by additional doctors outside the practice because you will receive a bill from additional physicians. When you call your insurance company, you will be told that you are not responsible, but the bills will still come and you will be forced to pay for the unknown service/physician. If you choose to fight the bill, you will be threatened by the unknown doctor that the bill will be sent to collections. When you call the billing department for the medical center, the staff will tell you that doctors are to ask for your permission to send the x-rays outside of the medical center, but doctors "forget" to ask on a regular basis. Billing will also tell you that you are allowed to ask that results not be sent to unknown doctors for additional opinions. However, if you do follow this procedure to avoid receiving bills from doctors you never met, you will be asked to leave - the doctor will refuse to complete the office visit and will tell you to go somewhere even if the patient is a child. Look for another medical team to serve you.

Please save yourself some time, pain and money by avoiding these guys. I was treated by Stephanie Davis for an abscess in the left arm. 10 days after on the antibiotic it didnt help. On the 10th day of the antibiotic, I was in the same situation as day 1. During all these 8-10 days, I went to see Stephanie every day except Sunday. They had been charging me copay $45 all per each visit. A culture sample was not taken to start with. So Stephanie was actually playing guess work. I asked if we could please change the antibiotic. She said No.Since Stephanie is a nurse practitioner, I figured may be seeing a doctor would help. Dr Ngo in village medical center was available. I went to see Dr Ngo on day 8. She didnt put me anything different. She couldnt because a culture sample was not taken on day 1. By the 10th day the abscess was really bad. My coworker saw me struggling with this and asked me to please get a second/third opinion. Fortunately my neighbor is a dermatologist assistant and she took a look at it. I went to Spring dermatology and got it drained. They took a culture sample and gave me a different antibiotic without asking for it.. I am not sure if I should have been more patient with Village medical center but 10 days on an antibiotic with no results!!.
