I dont often write reviews & Ive never given a negative review. But I strongly feel that I need to for this. My husband & I both have years of experience working in the medical field & know how important patient care/satisfaction is. We also fully understand that under certain circumstances, you cant always please everyone 100% even though you try your best. But my experience at Mountain Point was unlike any other medical experience Ive had. The nurses on the Med/Surg floor were flaky & constantly didnt seem to know why I was there, which made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. One of the nurses was confused & kept looking back & forth from the computer to her hand written paper she had in her pocket & told me both said different things about my treatment. Some of the female nurses were very unpleasant & rude. There was lack of communication with information about my treatment. I had to constantly ask questions about even the basic things. I feel like they should have explained everything, on their own, to keep me informed & to help make me feel assured that I was in good hands. Many times I was told different things by different staff members. And the worst staff member by far was Dr. Gregory Baird. My husband & I had finally had enough of the inadequate information & lack of bedside manners, so we asked if we could speak directly with Dr. Baird. When we explained our concerns, its like he didnt understand anything we said. He kept changing the subject & in conclusion, told us we could go online & write a review. He also told us that if we keep "bugging & bugging" the nurses by hitting the Call button over & over, we will eventually get what we need/want... I mean seriously?! That was his answer. No one should have to keep bugging & bugging any medical staff to receive basic patient care. I am not a high maintenance person & I dont expect the nurses to be at my every beckon call. But I do expect to be treated with kindness & courtesy & feel comfortable while not being able to go home for 3 days. I then started to lose my patience & told Dr. Baird that I wasnt expecting the nurses to brush my hair or give me a neck massage. I just wanted to feel safe in a scary, nearly fatal, health situation by having my nurses be knowledgeable about my treatment and to at least smile when they would come into my room. After our conversation with Dr. Baird, he never once apologized or said anything to reassure us that he would check my treatment plan to make sure everything was entered in correctly. He didnt address anything about the nurses poor bedside manners. And another one of his responses to us concerning the nurses, was that HE had done his job for the day by discharging X amount of patients. I mean it was like speaking to someone on drugs. He didnt hear anything we were trying to say. On a good note, there were 2 nurses that were really great. Ones name is Maddie & the other was a male nurse, I believe his name is Tyler?? They were both very friendly, easy to talk to & informative about everything. The ER nurses were also really great & made me feel well taken care of. Even one of the male GI nurses that worked on my treatment was great. If it wasnt for that handful of people, I would be giving only one star instead of two.

Definitely not a good experience. Arrived at 11:15AM for pre-op, knee replacement. Two nurses checked my husband in. Heard them saying that the doctor would be 45 minutes late....whispers, glances exchanged. At 12:15 they rolled him out presumably for surgery. I asked where I should wait,"Ill be right back said nurse #1 to tell you"........at 1:15PM I was cold so decided to go to the cafeteria for a warm drink. As I passed the "holding" area I saw my husband........at first I thought the surgery was over, then the nurse informed me that the doctor still wasnt there but that hed already been sedated somewhat ! Cafeteria closed while I was looking at the TV menu, gate came down and they took the food to the back......ok, Im not that hungry. Now to try to get back into the surgery dept, had to walk down to the front reception desk, they called them and someone opened the door. Doctor came in at 3:15 to say all went well and I could see him in a few. I thought "a few" meant minutes but by 5PM, still sitting in the empty room and freezing I went to the nurses station. Nurse #1 acted like shed never seen me before. I could see my husband thru the window......NO, YOU CANT GO BACK THERE ! Now Im getting ticked. They then suggested I find my way to his room on the 2nd floor and wait there.........nurse #2 appears to "Help me".......she begins a chant of , "Im so sorry, its all my fault, I shoulda come back to you, I take full responsibility, Im so sorry, etc, etc" This went on thru the hallway, up the elevator, down the 2nd floor hallway to ICU. I expected her to collapse into a nervous breakdown....she proceeded to ramble on to the 2nd floor staff. He was finally brought into his room at 6PM. NEXT DAY: Male nurse, I enter room, introduce myself and get a cold stare. There is water covering the floor, a large amount. We ask why. He says the cooler leaked. No hint that he will clean it up. This guy is very abrupt, rude, and unfriendly. Asks my husband very vague questions about pain, my husband gives him very vague answers. I suggest that he give him a scale to work with......your pain level is....1.........10. Male nurse spits the words at me, "IM NOT GOING TO TELL HIM HOW TO ANSWER"...........finally a shift change is made and we get a new nurse. This is not to say that everyone is inept at the hospital. We had some great nurses and doctors, physical therapists and aids, but the bad experiences overshadow the good. When you request a shower and they hand you a bowl of warm water and wash rag and walk out leaving the surgery patient to clean himself, its not good ! This is the 3rd day hes not be able to shower or clean himself properly and hes having a fit. Its knee surgery, I know they can tape a plastic bag around the knee and give him a stool to sit on in the shower..........for crying outloud, where is the compassion and work ethic !!!!!! Never will we go back there. Ive been a patient at AF, Timpanagos Hosp, and Intermountain..........never had a bad experience there. This place seems to hire the bottom of the pile...............................

If you have the opportunity to be seen by another hospital... DO IT!! I arrived at 5:00am and was seen quickly, as I was the only one there. I was having a kidney stone attack, and the doctor gave me morphine. Once that took effect, he proceeded to ask me if I wanted a cat scan. I asked his opinion, and he proceeded to tell me that "of course, you have to weigh the risks, as radiation can cause cancer". So, after the fear instilled in me... I chose to forgo the procedure, just to find myself back to the ER the next day. Thinking more clearly, I decided that I should have the cat scan so I would know what I was dealing with. The second visit was a nightmare!! They were busy, and I was basically neglected! They hooked me up to the blood pressure/oxygen monitor, as they did in my prior visit. Well, as you can imagine, when you are on these strong medications, you are VERY drowsy and all you want to do is sleep. Every time that I was just about to drift off to sleep, the oxygen monitor would beep waking me up. This went on the entire time for both the first and second visit totaling about 6-7 hours. So I finally became upset and asked her about it. The nurses excuse- " Im sorry, we are so busy that I havent had time to monitor your oxygen levels." Well thats comforting!! NOT! I was happy that I decided to go back and have the cat scan done as my kidney stone is a 7-9 mm. ( one that is impossible to pass), so they called the neurologist on call (Dr Cahoon) and he was not going to interrupt his Easter weekend to come in to relive my pain and the earliest I could get in to see him was Tuesday, (mind you it was Saturday) They at first asked me if I wanted to be admitted, and I said "yes." I had my son bring me my personal things to the hospital and about half hour later (1:30am) they came in and told me I was being released, so I had to call and get my son out of bed to come and get me. To top it off, the doctor never thought to prescribe me enough pain medication to get me through until Tuesday. When I realized that I would not have enough pain medication to last until my Tuesday appointment, I called the hospital and they refused to give me any more medication unless I came in and paid for another ER visit. So, needless to say, I have been awake since 3:15am and in excruciating pain, since I ran out of my pain medication! I really thought that one of the main objectives of a hospital was to manage peoples pain!!!! Not in this case!!!!!!!! Because of my pain, I have had no food for three days, and only sips of water, as I am nauseous and if I drink, the kidney stone starts to move causing even more pain!! I would not go to this hospital again and neither should you! By-the-way, I would not have even rated this one star, but unless you clicked on a star- you could not post your review.
