This is the SLOWEST Emergency room I have ever been to. Ive had two kids in there in the last 3 months. Each time we were in there for two hours. The first visit, my daughter was gasping for breath at 3 am because her inhaler had run out. I kept telling them that if they just gave her a couple of puffs on an inhaler she would be fine. Her oxygen levels were "quite low" according to the nurse, and then she stuck us in a room for 45 minutes. My daughter started crying because it was hurting her chest so much just to breath. Finally a doctor (who was quite friendly, Ill give him that) came in and said theyll call a respiratory therapist down and get this and that and this and that going. After repeating and repeating myself, I finally had to resort to begging. "Please! Please just write a prescription for an inhaler so we can go get her one and she can go to sleep!" He said, "Oh we have one right here we can give her," and pulled one out of the cabinet. Are you kidding me! She took a couple of puffs and was perfectly fine. Nearly two hours of pain and gasping when they couldve solved the problem in moments. I was livid. Our recent visit was because my son had punctured the back of his throat with a toy. Its bleeding, hes crying, and were just sitting there alone in a room for 45 minutes. When a nurse finally came in (to get insurance info, not actually help in any way) she said the doctor would be in very shortly. Apparently "very shortly" is another 20-30 minutes. The doctor looked in his throat and was in the room for no more than 3 minutes - no exaggerating. He promptly disappeared for another 20 minutes. When he finally returned he said, "Were just going to go ahead and let this heal on its own." You couldnt tell me that 90 MINUTES AGO!?! So today Im online finding hospitals with better reviews. With a bunch of kids, ER visits are inevitable. Im just bummed Ill have to drive farther for decent care. Well, its 20 minutes in the car or 90 minutes waiting around at AF, so I guess its worth it.

I took my husband to the ER while there the staff was okay but no one seemed to be in a hurry. We waited and waited. Then when a Doctor came he said my husband had diverticulitis and admitted him. We found out the next day that our insurance would not cover our visit so I made the Doctor make the choice if we should transfer or stay one more night. He said he thought we could go home the next day so we opted to stay. Big mistake the doctor left for vacation and we were given another doctor who was rude inconsiderate and has the worst bedside manner. Insulting my husbands business and his profession. Then while there my husband was given dilaudin(?) and Percocet at the same time which made him stop breathing when he fell asleep and his oxygen to be very low when not asleep. I had slept there and the nurses didnt come in when the low oxygen beeping started multiple times. I truly believe that if I had not been there he might be dead now. Because the second time I couldnt wake him up very easily. The Custodian was able to get the nurses so I wouldnt have to leave his bedside. When they came in they watched him fall asleep again and stop breathing his Oxygen got down to an 8% as they were trying to wake him. I asked the nurses what was going on and they said it was just his sleep apnea. I told them that he doesnt do this regularly and they said to me how would I know Im asleep. Which is not true. Later after taking to my Grandma who is a nurse she said that combing those two drugs is a absolute no no they should have been spaced an hour apart. I have had nothing but poor service from everyone but the support staff. Doctors and Nurses here need to know there drugs they are prescribing because we rely on them. Transferred to Timpanogas Hospital the next day instead of being checked out as the original doctor thought. My husband was taken off all of the Narcotics at timpanogas and was given just Tylenol to my husband he got noticeably better within hours of leaving AF hosptital.

Dont come to this ER if you have an actual emergency. My husband has had the misfortune of visiting twice in a month for two unrelated issues. The first visit, he came in for severe abdominal pain which in his particular case could have been life threatening if left untreated. The ER was deserted that night but he was still left to writhe in pain for over an hour and it was another 2.5-3 hours before we saw Dr Martin. There was no communication in the meantime about when we could expect to see her. When she did arrive, she was completely uninformed about the mechanics of a recent surgery which would greatly affect a plan for care and was very dismissive when I tried to explain. The second visit was a direct transfer from the InstaCare next door because the triage nurse and doctor there said he was in such bad shape, he needed to be in the ER. Yet, we have been here for 3 hours (as I write this from his bedside) and they have managed to give him a bag of IV fluids and draw blood for lab work. Except they forgot to take the blood to the lab, so while we were "waiting for lab results", nothing was actually happening. The nurse call button is useless, unless you like being told someone will come check on you, only to wait another 15-20 minutes, have to remind them, then wait another 15 minutes before anyone actually comes, all the while overhearing lively conversations at the nurses station that show the patient they are not the priority! We would have been better off staying at the InstaCare. I know some people come to the ER with things that could have waited til they could see their PCP the next day but the lack of urgency over more severe cases is truly alarming and disheartening.

Worse hospital ever!!!!! I could go on and on but this is the worse. Even criminal. I had an EKG done because I was having chest pains and when the EKG results came back, the nurse looked at it (After accusing me of just coming in to get drugsI believe her name was Karen. She said "Her son is an addict so I know one when I see one" so after looking worried after seeing EKG results, she shows it to the doctor and the doctor even looked worried and nervous but told the "EKG was normal". I didnt believe them so I went to another hospital to get another opinnion and the other hospital told me that I was having a heart attack and if I would have gotten their 15 minutes later,I could have easily died. They found a bloodclot in my artery too, something that pathetic A.F. hospital missed.I could have easily been dead and would have been if it werent for American Fork Hospital. By the way,the nurse (Karen) I believe her name was (brown, long hair, early to mid fourties) actually threw the cirynge at me when she accused me of just going their for pain killers. Stay away from this death trap of a hospital. Especially if you value your life. They will yell at you about your whole past medical history out loud in front of other patients and their families which is not only embarrasing but illegal as well.So much for doctor patient confidentiality and if you say anything back to them, theyll hide behind security or the police. It has happened to alot of people. Alot!! They know they get paid regardless of how many patience they get so they dont care if you leave the E.R. dying or not. This whole hospital needs a complete overhaul. Boycott it.
