Though their service has improved since they incorporated more staff from the actual University, me and my children have been treated very poorly here. I became pregnant at age 19 and every trip in during my pregnancy I was treated like an unintelligent, immature child. At one point I asked if I was supposed to be mopping at work at 8mo pregnant and the doctor told me that I shouldnt be using that as an "excuse to get out of work." It was a question. Then after my son was born, we were told he might have leukemia and were sent to Primarys when they were actually sending us there because they thought there was child abuse. They scared us with the thought of our 1 month old having cancer to get us to go to the hospital. We spent three days in the hospital and countless months under pointless DCS investigation. Then a couple years later, they told me he wasnt gaining enough weight (which he was and still is a chubby little boy), and to feed him fattening foods (i.e. "foods you want to eat, but shouldnt") and he was "prescribed" Pediasure. He hadnt grown length-wise, so it made sense to me that he wasnt gaining weight, but they just couldnt seem to fathom that. I dont want an overweight 2 year old. He was already chubby. At our next appointment we were sent to Primary Childrens AGAIN, because he had barely gained weight (yet, he was still the same height). When we arrived, all the nurses were confused as to why he was there, they told me they expected a skinny, malnourished child. After ANOTHER FOUR POINTLESS DAYS THERE, the endocrinologist confirmed why I thought he wasnt gaining weight and what I had been trying to explain to the doctors: 1. Both me and my husband are short people - 411" and 55" - meaning tallness is not in his cards. 2. He has Down syndrome, which also causes growing challenges. 3. He will probably have a growth spurt when he reaches 3-4 years of age (which he is three now and, yes, what a surprise, he has gone through a growth spurt). There are a few staff members who are wonderful, excellent doctors, but many others there treat the families terribly. Especially the front desk people. I always get such hostility from them.

At the South Main Clinic for the University of Utah you will get low level treatment if you ask for interpretation for your healthcare. If you speak Spanish, you get top treatment. If you dont speak Spanish, you will get bottom level treatment. The University of Utah will break their promises to you regarding interpretation also, written promises broken. And Salt Lake County could care less. Racist & retaliatory treatment. Also the U of U Office of Equal Opportunity is completely worthless. Utterly worthless all of them.

My experience was very bad! I was in the waiting room for an hour and had to wait another 45 minutes just to see a doctor and when the doctor finally seen me, it was just to hear my babys heart beat. They do not do ultrasound there only if you do not have medical. My experience was so bad I do not recommend anyone going there
