Stay away from Del Ray Animal Hospital for boarding! Boarded my dog over a 4-day period from Friday to Monday. The kennel significantly stressed out my dog. He did not eat the entire weekend and I did not receive a phone call until late Monday morning right before I picked him up. He lost 5 pounds over the weekend and was shedding terribly. My dog had a physical the week prior with Del Ray Animal Hospital where everything was normal. In my opinion, they do not have the facilities to provide a good environment for general boarding. Not that it normally matters but the kennels where they treat dogs are not separate from those boarding. It is now clear, Del Ray does not have the capacity or capability to properly board dogs. Approach with caution but I recommend staying away. Del Ray Animal Hospital charged me around $197 for this fiasco,which included a bath and his 4 days of neglect. My dog ate as soon as he got home and drank water like he had not had any in days. The VET offered an apology but communication early on would have went a very long way. I am inclined to believe that something more may have happened that they are not owning up to like the boarder not showing up over the weekend or some other circumstances.

Ive been taking my three dogs to Del Ray Animal Hospital for four years now, and Ive had great experiences. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the doctors are caring and knowledgeable about current health issues (like dog flu, etc.). Based on what Ive heard when talking to friends who go other places, the prices here are quite reasonable. (The prices are high, but thats just the reality of the DC area, and especially Alexandria. And you get what you pay for.) One of my dogs needs a lot of special treatment at the vet. He has three legs and hes a biter who wont tolerate much touching from strangers or handling. His vet visits are time-consuming and complicated, and the people at Del Ray Animal Hospital have been nothing but kind and patient with us. Im very greatful for that. They care about the animals here, and thats just not true everywhere.

My wife and I have been going to Del Ray Animal Hospital for the last 21 years. We have had several pets during that time and Dr. Marsico is and has been the most amazing pet care provider we have ever known. I must say, for those of us who consider our pets family members a doctor of this caliber is priceless! Through the joys of a new pet and the sorrows of a passing Dr. Marsico has been irreplaceable to our family. We have traveled and lived throughout the United States and South America and have used many different animal hospitals over the years but nothing has compared to the focus, love, attention, honesty and knowledge that we have received from Del Ray Animal Hospital; specifically Dr. Marsico. We first visited DRAH in 1994 because they were a vet partner for the Alexandria Shelter when we adopted our first cat. They took such good care of him and the 2nd cat we adopted that when we returned to the area, after moving away for 12 years, we had no hesitation to bring our cats back even though we now live in NW Washington. Dr. Marsico and Dr. Williams are wonderful as are the staff, who even know you and your pets by your phone number when you call in (before pulling you up in the system). As long as we live here, we will continue to bring all our cats to them.

There isnt a better place to take your pets. They love and treat them like they are theirs. Excellent and caring doctors and staff. Has kept my rescue alive (who we got in rough shape) way longer than we expected and hes in better health than hes ever been. Dr. Marsico is the best vet weve ever worked with. She really takes the time to figure out exactly what your pet needs. I also enjoy supporting a vet that hasnt been taken over by a huge company. This place is a true neighborhood place that cares about each and every patient.

I took my sick dog Del Ray Animal Hospital during a holiday weekend. They squeezed him in since he wasnt eating and he was lethargic. I was very thankful for that. The service was great once I showed up at the appointment. I did walk out with a $600 bill for blood tests and the visit, but I did need a baseline for my older dog. Vets are just really expensive! The vet followed up with me a few days afterward to check on my dog which I thought was great. They really do care about their animal patients.

My wife and I were in St. Paul Mn. when our 100 lb Wime needed surgery. Drove back 2 weeks later and time to get the stitches out. Our usual vet and others all booked up. Called Del Ray and a lady named BB said come on over. She greeted my dog and I and in no time stitches were out. Great staff and superb experience ! Del Ray hasnt seen the last of me as the next time our dog needs treatment or checkup Ill be scheduling with Del Ray. BB, thank you once again.

I am very happy with my first visit to Del Ray Animal Hospital, especially with the care the exotic pets veternarian Dr. Bellows provided to my fur kid Brownie (European rabbit). She asked a lot of questions about his health and answered all of my concerns. She was gentle during the thorough examination, not stressing Brownie out at all. Everyone we encountered was very nice. I highly recommend Del Ray Animal Hospital.

Del Ray Animal Hospital has cared for my pets since 1992 including three small dogs and about a dozen cats!Dr. Lisa Marsico has been my primary vet but when she was not available, others gave us good care. Although I moved to the Mount Vernon area six years ago, I continue to bring my cats to Dr. Marsico since she knows them all so well. I am happy to recommend the Del Ray animal hospital.

I love this animal hospital. Dr Mixson Williams takes really good care of both our dog and cat. When our older cat was very ill its was so helpful to have such caring attention to her needs.
