We have been going to VCA Old Town for almost 4 years now and see Dr. Clark & Dr. McClean. Both doctors are great and have been nothing but upfront & honest when answering questions, talking about tests or issues, etc. We have never been pressured into taking expensive tests and they always did a walk through with us on the bill if we did anything that was more then a check up. The front desk staff has changed since we first started to now and you can see a difference. They are quick to help you out for appointments, very nice and greet us at the door and we haver never had an issue. They also went above & beyond for us when we call on a Friday night right before close to ask them to write a support letter as we were going to be adopting a dog the next day. We went there Saturday morning and they had a fantastic letter signed by the office manager & Dr. McClean. The techs are great as well. We have pretty much had every tech there and have not had one issue with any of them. The last thing I wanted to point out is that vet care is expensive, so having low expectations on how much a visit is can be bad. If price is an issue then I would call ahead of time and ask questions. They have a deal for first time visits as well as for medicines like heartworm & flea, etc. I would recommend this place and go see Dr. McClean or Dr. Clark :)

I recently brought my dog to VCA Old Town because he was suffering from heart problems. They charged me $600 to diagnose him only enough to refer him to a cardiologist. The cardiologist was surprised to see the amount of tests they ran and I found out most were unneccesary by another vet. They also put him on a diaretic to clear fluid that was in his lungs. After a few weeks on the diaretic I was leaving on vacation with my dog and tried to get a refill. Out of nowhere they said they could not refill without another full exam. I tried to explain that I did not have time or the money and they refused to fill the perscription and also said that it was probably not neccesary. Talking to Dr Pohl about this was like talking to a brick wall - after every question she would simply repeat the same thing in her usuall rude way of talking down to people. Within a few days my dog was very sick again and had to go to an emergency room. The vet there was able to perform the same exam for less than half the price, immediately put him back on the diaretic and told me not to take him off it due to his severe condition. Maybe the other vets there are alright but definately not Dr Pohl. She is rude, does not listen and showed little compassion for my situation. I am finding a new vet as soon as I get back from vacation.

If I can choose not to give any star, or if google have negative stars to give, I will do so. The main reasons that made me give them bad review are: Their front desk people are extremely incompetent and ignorant -- there were several times i called them trying to set up appointment and the front desk lady seems have trouble to type a very simple 5-letter last name, no matter how many times i spell it out for her. Also, when I tried to order heartworm medicine online, they just lie to the pedsmed person and said our dog need another heartworm test; which is totally not true because my dog just had it tested in May this year with them! The last thing is, like many people said, they love to sell you things that not necessary and they certainly are expensive!

My boyfriend and I just moved to old town and adopted a 7 month old pup. We took her to this hospital for our first appointment with her. They booked an appointment for us on the same day that we called which is amazing. She had a little bit of a rash on her belly and we generally needed to get her checked into a vet. The doctor was very kind, helpful, and informative. The visit was quick and easy. Every one who worked there was friendly and really seemed to love and care about animals. Plus, I found out that they take care of avian and exotic animals which is wonderful because I have a bird and lizard as well! We walked away very happy with our first visit there and will definitely return.

Not a good experience. I am sure the vet service itself is adequate, but the practice is like a car sales lot. Unfortunately not only are they rather expensive, they try and up-sell you on everything. When I first checked my dog in - before I even got to the waiting room seat, I had an email selling me insurance. Then once inside I was up sold everything from cans of food t, nail clipping etc etc etc- I expected them to offer a side of fires. Then to top things off, they have still not sent my new vet all her medical records - inc immunizations despite requests from both me and the vet. If you visit, be aware and keep hold of your wallet.

I was upset about how they notified me of my cats diagnosis of moderate arthritis. Dr. Reed, who saw her, called me SIX days after her visit and left a message on my voicemail, and then left for the day. (This is my baby, who has been with me through thick and thin for 9 years.) I had lots of questions and concerns and couldnt get them answered for a few days. I also signed up for the "never forget" program which is supposed to mail you meds for the pet every month and they messed that up, and also accidentally overcharged me for the visit and had a mix-up about the meds my cat needed. Not happy and not going back.

Saved my Rick! Thanks Dr. Lewis my hero. I was just reading the other posts! This is the best Vet around, hands down. I brought my dog there (from another vet) on the verge of death and Dr. Lewis saved him! Also a heart issue...I have never been asked to "buy" anything or feel like they are causing me to spend more money than I have to. Just recently my dog was diagnosed with cancer...again, under the watchful eye of Dr. Lewis "she" caught it and he is being treated with a great prognosis. Thank you Dr. Lewis and the whole staff at VCA. If you read the other posts, dont believe them! Yay! VCA

I went for a routine rabies shot and exam. You would think it is simple and fast. Not so. They were trying to sell me expensive blood tests and other stuff. I felt like I was at the car dealership. The vet was nice but the pushy selling tactics from her and her assistant were just too annoying. I spent more time saying that I don’t need their stuff than actually talking about my pet. I was not impressed by how there were handing my cat either. And the vet’s assistant was just mean looking. I am definitely not going back.

Really appreciated that they could take care of my dogs infected incision today. We did the walk-in thing (I hate that), but we were very concerned that leaving it could cause major issues. They were profesional, and fit us in quickly. We are so glad the dogs incision looks much cleaner. She doesnt say much (shes a dog), but she really needed help. Thank you for fixing her. Weve been going here over a year, and we are pretty happy with the care they have provided our pooch.
