My regular vet does not handle reptiles, but referred us to Collins Veterinary Hospital for our very sick Chinese Water Dragon. The helpful lady at the desk arranged for an appointment within 2 hours. Dr. Cabaniss was extremely knowledgeable about dragons and admitted him for intensive hydration and care. She called daily with updates on his condition and he made significant progress in the 3 days of hospitalization. She gave excellent discharge instructions and handouts for future care. Pascal is home and doing extremely well. I do not have enough good things to say about our experience and his care and I am so grateful that we were referred to Dr Cabaniss.

We have been bringing our cat here since he was kitten. The vet techs that work at Collins are consistently personable, caring, kind, professional and very competent. We are always 100% confident that the care and treatment he gets and while boarding are going to exactly how wed want him treated. They make it worth the drive cross-town. Our vet has seen the cat from his first vaccination, through dietary issues, seasonal allergies, and now a chronic illness. Hes always been very good a laying out the options, their differences, cost, etc. in a way that is easy to understand. Weve always been happy with the care given.

I take my bunnies here for their annual exams. Dr. Cabaniss is very experienced with rabbits, so I feel my buns are in good hands with her. Their services are however a bit too expensive. When one rabbit was sick, she used a cotton swab in his nose then threw it away. We were charged $5 for hazardous waste disposal"! Thats ridiculous. We dont have a choice but to go there, as Dr. Cabaniss is the only rabbit-knowledgeable vet in DC.

I was very pleased with with Dr. Merker. He and his assistant were friendly, were gentle with my cat and and the assistant even went outside with me to carry the cat carrier and get me a taxi to go home. The medication helped and my cat is regular now (megacolon). As to the price: this being DC it was more or less what I expected. Ill be going back when the need arises and for yearly check-ups.

Dr. Fischer was great with my bulldog. She went over the vaccines he needed and explained which ones were necessary and which were optional based on lifestyle. It was refreshing being spoken to honestly instead of being upsold unnecessary vaccines for my dog. I had virtually no wait time and was seen at my appointed time on the dot. I couldnt be happier!

I own a rabbit. What many would consider a normal pet is actually considered exotic by veterinarians. Finding Collins Hospital was great. Not only do they know how to handle animals, but they explain things very well and have nail clipping appointments. There is no question that I will be heading back to there many more times.

Practice has been clean both times I have been in. Prices are fair and clearly explained and the staff is non-judgemental which is nice because I dont take my cats to the vet as often as some say I should. Full disclosure: My first cat lived to be 22, my second cat is 20 and my "newest" cat is 14.

Thank you Dr. Jay and staff for taking care of our new pup! We were able to fly safely and calmly with lil Jib. He slept in my arms during the entire flight With love, Christie & Brad

Dr. Cabaniss and the staff at Collins gave our dog excellent care throughout his later years and showed great compassion when it was time for us to say goodbye to him.
