Let me start by saying that Ive always loved MedExpres. Having the urgent care option and convenience right here is GREAT! Ive suggested other people try them and have never had a bad experience until this one... I was at MedExpress on Pantops in Charlottesville when I saw Dr. Minneci. I was diagnosed earlier in the week with strep throat and an ear infection. After taking the last of the Z pack, my sore throat and achy ear were better, but I developed a terrible cough that nothing could calm. I have a history of severe bronchitis and pneumonia so I went in to get the doctors opinion. He came into the room and said, "Ill take a look at you since youre here, but I already know whats wrong." His first question to me, "Havent you ever heard of Robitussin?" I was shocked. He never asked me what was wrong, how I felt, illness history, etc. After looking at my throat and ears he said, "you dont have strep and you dont have an ear infection. Who diagnosed you? A shaman?" My mouth dropped open and I let him know that I had been on the Z pack and everything that was hurting before had cleared up. His response, "Do you even know what a shaman is?" At this point I was in tears. He just stared at me and said, "Whats wrong? Usually I only make 3 year olds cry." There were SO many more comments that I simply dont have the time to put into a review. My personal opinion, its a waste of time to see this "doctor". He will make you feel stupid for asking for help, tell you that youre wrong, speak over you (and when I say speak its basically a yell), make fun of you for being offended...just not a good doctor, not a nice person, terrible bedside manner.

though Im deeply thankful for the expedient, affordable, and professional help I received. However, Dr. Minneci was unusually obnoxious to me and the nurses. he pretended to try to make small talk but it was evident that he didnt want to talk to anyone and is generally in a bratty anti-social mood. the nurses were so sweet and kind, but as soon as he entered the room there was this abrupt energy change that felt almost scary. Im ok with receiving hostile treatment for the duration of the treatment, all things considered, its not the most painful thing while getting treated for an injury, but I feel bad for the rest of the staff that have to deal with him on a regular basis. I wonder if he always wanted to work as a pathologist and is forever annoyed that his patients are all alive. But again, Im so so grateful that I didnt have to go to the ER. and if it wasnt for Dr. Minneci I would almost rate the satisfaction of my entire experience as worth the painful circumstances that brought me there.

I wouldnt recommend this Med Express to my enemy - while Ive been to a few walk in clinics, this is by far the worst experience Ive had. While the front desk staff were unsympathetic and utterly unconcerned with expediting the check in process, its the "doctor" that was the most worrisome. I had severe pain in my ear, while he initially and confidently diagnosed me with swimmers ear, he swiftly changed his diagnoses to TMJ within minutes. Not only was I not confident in his methodology - without warning or explanation he stuck his finger into my ear causing excruciating pain that left me crying. Bedside manners are not a priority at this "urgent" care clinic. Turned out the diagnoses I was finally given was wrong... I had swimmers ear the whole time and putting antibiotics on it would have fixed the problem. Instead, I was prescribed narcotics and sent a bill. If you can wait to see a real doctor... do it. Or drive to Richmond or Fredericksburg to visit a CVS minute clinic.

I will never ever ever come back to this facility again. Dr. Peter Minneci is rude and unsympathetic. He truly could care less about his patients. His first mistake was walking over to my daughters ipod and checking out the game she was playing while I was explaining my symptoms...really! I came in tonight because I have been fatigued for a couple days and after ruling out the flu, he told me - theres nothing more he can do for me and maybe I had a virus or just needed a vacation? seriously ... and throughout the visit he told me about his 12 hour days implying that he is the one who should be tired... Just FYI doctor, you patients dont care how long you have been at work - you probably make twice if not three times as much as I do so you are compensated for your 12 hour days. Please take my advise and never visit this place. Next time I will go to First Med where they actually care about the patient - it was my mistake in giving this place another chance.

From the second I walked in I was greeted by an woman who genuinely cared that I was there. Eye contact and sincerely nice. The next person I saw was for the notices and insurance. Again, super nice and was genuinely interested in getting me on my way but not in a rush or rude way. The front desk personnel is the first people the public sees and they did great. I did not have an appointment and was called back before I could finish and article in a magazine. The triage nurse was efficient and was put into an exam room right away. The doctor arrived quickly. From arrival to departure was 45 min. No appt. I have the luxury of health insurance which helps and I am feeling better already. I felt the place was clean too. Not a lot of Germy magazines.

I was seen by this facility for strep like symptoms. The test was negative so the MD stated Im not sure if I its viral or bacterial so I will give you these prescriptions. A week later I went to employee health at UVA and I had thrush due to my inhaler. That is easy to diagnose, I feel some of the attending MD are lazy and dont take the time to properly address the problem. This place is a LAST resort before going to the ER....At least the ER will give you a proper diagnosis!

Went with friend who had a dislocated finger. Figured this would be the simple sort of thing they could handle. After having us wait 20 minutes and then taking her blood pressure they decided that they actually couldnt help her. They referred her to the ER we should have went to in the first place. They also informed her that she would be charged $200 for the visit. Useless people; unethical practices; 0/10 would not recommend.

My PA was Rebecca and she was amazing!! I went in for a shoulder injury and from past history with urgent care centers I figured they would just write referrals to other doctors and not pay my much attention to my injury. She fully looked at my shoulder and took a X-ray, got me in a sling, got me medication, referral to a orthopedic and even put me on work realease all right there!! I will definitely be going back!!
