Cathy and Dr. Shutte are the best. I stumbled upon this store after a shopping trip to the Whole Foods Fairlakes market. I had been needing to replace my glasses for months but could never decide on a frame that suited my face and hairstyle. Cathy was absolutely amazing at helping me to narrow down the options (of which there were many). Once we settled on a frame the order process was a snap. They had my new glasses back from the lab a day earlier than they promised. Where Modern Optometry really shined happened next. There was a problem with my lenses which made distance vision for me difficult. Turns out I have an allergy to certain types of plastic which causes headaches. Cathy and Dr. Shutte didnt even bat an eye. They changed the order and sent my glasses back to be re-made. Once I got them back, everything was perfect. I recommend Modern Optometry for anyone who is looking for excellence in customer service and satisfaction!

I happened upon Modern Optometry while I was shopping in the Fair Lakes area and decided to pop my head in to see what they had (as I had been looking for a new pair of glasses). Cathy and Dr. Schutte were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I appreciated the great effort they put forth in trying to help me find just the right frames, and were very accommodating when I had a special request. And gracious and accommodating again when I needed to make an exchange. Their opinions on what was most flattering on my face were spot-on and I am thrilled with my new glasses. And now I have new friends in Cathy and Dr. Schutte and enjoy stopping in to say hello once in a while.

This a great Optometry clinic. My wife and I have been traveling extensively for the past few years and I needed to update my Contact prescription. I initially picked Modern Optometry due to its location in relation to where we were staying and I was truly pleased with the service I received. I had been using contacts for my distance vision and it was making my reading / computer vision suffer. Josh DR Schutte) suggested some contacts and a adjusted prescription that would serve both and it has been great. I am currently working in Alaska and living in Kazakhstan and my next eye visit will be in his clinic in VA

The people who work here really want to help you. I had shopped at another optometrist and they were so busy it was like they just did not care whether or not I made a purchase. When I went to Modern Optometry they were able to order the frame that I had liked in the other shop and make recommendations for my lense selection. I have to say I am very happy with my eyeglasses which they were able to rush in 5 days. They also accepted my Blue View vision insurance which lowered my out of pocket cost. I was pleased.

I found Dr. Shutte to be exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and easy to talk to. It is sometimes difficult to find this combination of characteristics. They have a large selection of stylish frames, quick and easy contact ordering, and a modern and stylish office. It is very convenient to the FairLakes, Centreville, Chantilly, and Fairfax area. They participate in my insurance and the staff has been capable and friendly. Highly recommend this office for you eye care needs.

Dr. Schutte and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The exam was thorough, something I have not received by any optical shop before. The selection was great and they accept VSP. As for timeliness, my order came in extremely quick with no errors, which was another first for me. If you are not local to East Market Fair Lakes it is worth the drive.
