This hospital is an absolute horror. My wife just went to the emergency room due to two separate abscesses in her groin area. The emergency room was very busy today, therefore I can definitely see that the employees were under a little stress. However, when Dr. Kelly Harvey told my wife that she was "too busy" to properly treat her abscesses by cutting and draining them, and instead simply gave her antibiotics, that was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Avoid this hospital like the plague. Dr. Kelly Harvey is a worthless doctor who doesnt care about her patients in the slightest, all she seems to care about is when she can clock out. She obviously does not want to be there or help her patients, she just wants to get you in and make the easiest call she can to get you out of the hospital. Its all about the money, they dont give a damn about the well-being of the patients. Again, avoid this hospital. If you have an emergency, go to another hospital. Ive heard countless horror stories about this place, but experiencing it first-hand here, I believe every single story Ive been told. More than the hospital, avoid Dr. Kelly Harvey. Shes too busy to care about her patients.

I can concur with a previous post from about my ER experience. The nursing staff at this ER was amazing. They were professional and caring. Dr. Harvey was just the opposite. I had taken a loved to be treated for loss of mobility. Was walking one day and the next day could not walk. Dr. Harvey ran many tears but discharged my loved one w/out speaking to me or the patient or providing any type of diagnosis. I had to request that she come in to speak to me. When I asked why my loved on had lost mobility her response was that her job was only to treat acute illnesses and that I needed to follow up w/ my loved in primary care doc concerning the loss of mobility. Does this sound like a doc that has care or concern about patients? Again, I commend the nursing staff but doctors like Dr. Harvey give SMH a bad name.

I wholeheartedly disagree .I had major cancer surgery at Southampton Memorial March 2015 and I received excellent care. They employ an excellent surgeon Dr.David Deip, who would not be there if the hospital was substandard . I have used the ER on 4 different occasions all 4 were serious issues. The 4th occasion we saw Dr.Harvey and she handled my husbands condition very well and hospitalized him. Most Ers are abused by patients who should go to a doctors office .Most people go to the Er with non emergency problems. Draining an abscess calls for a doctors office not an ER .Maybe Dr.Harvey was treating real emergency patients .

I cant thank nurse Holland and Dr Harvey for the excellence care I received this hospital put UNC and Duke and Wakemeb to shame I wish we had the care that I received from Southampton Memorial Hospital down here in North Carolina. I wish they can come down and teach these hospital how to treat patience
