All of the Dr.s at St. Francis are wonderful Dr.s. And Susy is terrific, she has always been so helpful and smiling and knows all the patients by name. You couldnt ask for a better greeting! Unfortunately I had a VERY bad experience this passed weekend when my Rotty of 16 years who was more like a son/brother to my family needed to be put to sleep. This was one of the hardest decisions that my husband and I had to make. He had gone down hill over night. When I called to make the appointment instead of sympathy I was told "Well I wish you would have called earlier, we had openings"! Then was put on hold. When the woman (NOT SUSY, of whom I asked to speak with) came back on the phone began to tell me that because I have not brought my dog in for almost 2yrs ( we have 4 dogs and have been patients of theres for almost 6 yrs) for shots (he was old and could not get in/out of the car) that they had to give him a exam before they would say one way or another if they could put him down. Then she proceeded to tell me all of the things they HAD to do before they would give him the shot! This poor Dog was not able to stand, could not walk and was going to the bathroom all over him self. Needless to say my Mastiff had a stroke the same morning and was suffering, (he is just due for his shots) we asked to do the same for him (he is 11 going on 12) I was told "Well how do you know that has to be done", (he cant walk, cant go outside to use the bathroom, falling down the stairs and is crying in pain). I was told the only time that I could bring them in was later on in that afternoon. This was about 10-10:30 am that I called. She booked them for 1:00. I needed help then. Not 3 hrs later. Well anyway the Rotty passed before the appointment, and the Mastiff about an hr after. Unfortunately after 6 years of wonderful care, at the most important time that I feel was needed was the worst service/care that I have ever received. And even though we love the Drs I will not be bringing any of my animal back there again. I do not want to put them through any of that! Nor put myself or my family threw what we went threw this weekend ever again!.

first ,. Ill say its an amazing group of professionals!! kind, caring, attentive, quick in crisis and I was totally panic stricken and they were always sympathetic even when I was calling a lot during my dogs pregnancy. the evening I thought would go according to many internet website reviews- and how to deliver puppies- my first time. It was a loooong nite! I was at emergency ER at 3am then one puppy arrived naturally so I was sent home to deliver the second pup. Everything went wrong! the dog would not nurse and I could see she had slowed down her contractions substantially- I was even more nervious. I called back the ER room and they were closing.. Now Im afraid I lost #2. I rush over to St. Francis again and this time it was comfirmed that she could not deliver the second puppy and her placenta had started to deteriorate! Now Im afraid this can be life threatening!! Dr. Mcauliff acted quickly to perform a C-section. I was so emotionally I was crying and I was afraid that my best friend could be gone. I did not know what to expect waiting for them to call me. I was overhelmed when Doctor Mcauliff called and told me I now have 3 healthy little pups and that acting quickly saved my the puppies! WOW what an experience and fortunate was I to have Dr. McAuliff as myn vet! so wonderful how everyone there was so kind and helpful to answer my multiple questions. this could have been a lot more expensive at the ER. instead it was less than half. Worth every cent! so dont be cheap with your dogs health or dont have one. Ill always go there. Thanks to the whole staff and a special thanks to Dr. McAuliff.

I am writing this review for Michelle Lee and Precious Lee, with all their love and appreciation: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Stephen McAuliff from St. Francis. If you’re looking for a vet, don’t look anymore. Previously, I dealt with a nonprofit organization and they did the surgery on my dog incorrectly. I thought I was saving money by going to the nonprofit, but it ended up costing me double because I needed to have the surgery redone. I went to St. Francis and Dr. McAuliff did an x-ray and discovered that the earlier surgery had been done wrong, so he had to redo the surgery. The non-profit couldn’t refund the money. I returned to the non-profit to have some bloodwork done on my dog and they said there was nothing wrong, but I knew something wasn’t right. So I went back to St. Francis and the bloodwork showed that the dog does has cushings disease. So for the second-time they saved my dog pain, and saved her life. If you’re looking for a vet that is trustworthy and loves your animals the same way that you do, feel assured that even if it costs you a couple more dollars it’s well worth the satisfaction of knowing that your animal will be well taken care of from the ladies at the reception desk to Dr. McAuliff. I knew that when I handed them my dog that she would be loved and well taken care of.

A few months ago, my cat Otis began losing weight in spite of eating everything in sight. His coat became matted and it was obvious something was wrong. I took Otis to St. Francis and, after some tests, they discovered he had a thyroid problem. He was given medication to take daily but the medication had no effect. He was steadily losing weight. Dr. McAuliff talked to me about thyroid surgery. I was very concerned especially with Otis being at least 10 years old. Dr. McAuliff explained that he used laser in performing the surgery so there would be minimal trauma, if any at all. The day of surgery went well. I brought Otis home the next day. Thinking he would need his rest, I fixed a place for him to rest and recuperate. I put up a small gate to keep my new puppy away from Otis. As soon as I turned my back, Otis jumped the gate! You would not know he had had surgery the day before. Two weeks later, Otis and returned to St. Francis for a follow-up appointment. His coat was already looking better and he had gained weight! Almost two pounds in two weeks! Otis continues to improve each day. I am very thankful for the doctors and the staff at St. Francis. As far as I am concerned, they saved Otiss life!

After having many different vets in the Northern Virginia area in the past 16 years, this is by far, the BEST all around animal hospital I have ever been to. We are, personally, treated with respect, friendly attitudes and concern for our own feelings. And thats just us! Our pets, are loved and cared for and treated so outstandingly, you would think they belong to the people that work there!! The compassion and thoughtfulness is without measure. I can honestly say that I will never choose an alternative Veterinary practice to care for our four-legged children. St. Francis Animal Hospital in Stafford is just, in a word, WONDERFUL. We have been there for the excitement of a new puppy and also the death of our oldest dog, and everything in between. Their pricing is very competitive and they always strive to offer incentives with specials and coupons. I can safely say that we and our dogs have never been treated better. A special Thank you to Dr. Davis and Katie, who helped us through the loss of our 14 year old chihuahua, and to all the other Doctors and members of Staff that continue to provide such wonderful and loving care to our dogs. We couldnt speak more highly of them.
