I was referred to Kool Smiles for an emergency visit. A filling came out while flossing my teeth. One week prior, I made the appointment with an employee at the Hampton, VA location. I informed her I was not sure of my insurance because I am a Veteran. I receive my care at the VA Medical Center. She told me they would verify my insurance and let me know before my appointment. I told her I did not want to come the day of and find out I am unable to be taken care of. One week later, on the morning of my appointment, I am told they could not verify my insurance and I am unable to be seen. The front desk employee told me they tried to verify my insurance the day before and received the email that morning. My complaint is they had a whole week to verify my insurance and inform me, so I can get either try and get the information myself or apply for individual insurance elsewhere. I planned to do just that, but was told by the employee at Kool Smiles one week prior to hold off, they would let me know beforehand. I did not get seen and I still have to get my tooth re-filled. I will not be going back to Kool Smiles for any of my care, nor will I refer anyone to go there.

the first vist was awesome. I have a abscess cracked tooth the doc gave me some weak vic but rite aid called confused her and she denied it so still in harsh pain I had to go to heart dr to get the ok to take tooth out, I did I called made a appt. got there was told they only take teeth out 2 times a month and I would have to wait. Now without pain meds tooth is killing still waiting I asked again about pain meds the dentists that was there said NO I would have ot make another appt I was like wait I AM here at my appt but no she wouldnt see me. So called around and tomorrow the 29th I have a appt to see when I can get this tooth taken out so there would be no more pain and I could start eating again and drinking water. it has now been 2.5 weeks in pain little food little drinks what a mess. I can promise you this, no one will give a crap about what I have been through nor this post. STAY far far far away from this place if youre really in a lot of pain and need help asap.

My daughter (5) had her first cavity and required a fill. The hygienist, Camela, was great- patient, provided explanations in a way my child could understand, all around wonderful (& the only reason the visit got any stars at all). Dr. Kapoor, was the polar opposite of the hygienist. My child was scared, she provided no empathy just sternly (too much so for my liking) gave instructions and criticism when my daughter didnt follow them. About 5m into the procedure I wanted to request another dentist, but I was afraid to open my mouth for fear of what else would come out. They either need to only allow her to work with children 12+, get her some sensitivity training, or fire her. My vote is the latter! No one should be subjected or have their children subjected to this kind of service. We will NEVER attend another appointment at this facility, if she is the designated dentist! NEVER!!!!

I had a very bad toothache and i was in so much pain i went into kool smiles with a horrible disposition however the attendant stayed professional with me walked me through my procedure i felt so bad that i had to apologize... Not at one point did she act unprofessional towards me...i want to say she was truly the reason i got through the whole experience along with dr o...they noticed that i was having an anxiety attack and act on it immediately making me come out of it attending to my every need which allowed them to get my tooth out...i would like to say thank you to both of them cause without there professional attitude and patience with me i would have just given up ....thank u guys so much for turning a bad experience into a very pleasant experience...go kool smiles....your absolutely right yall do cater to adults as well as children....

This was my 3rd visit and all three were well below my expectations. All three visits were accompanied with very long waits. Long waits, in excess of 30 minutes or more beyond my scheduled appointment time. I continued to return after the first visit because I wanted to give the establishment the benefit over doubt. The second visit was actually rescheduled by the facility because their equipment broke down. When we arrived to the rescheduled appointment, it was chaotic because the computers had broken down and no one knew why we were there. This last visit was a Saturday visit, the office wasnt crowded, we arrived 30 minutes early and still ended up waiting 30 minutes beyond the scheduled appointment time. I am extremely disappointed in this highly regarded practices unprofessional practice. Looking for a new dentist.

I took my three year old to Kool Smiles and we went there for a check up. They told us she has cavities and some work done. They told us to call the Newport news office and to get information on the appointment. I called them and they told me her appointment was at 8am and it was month away. Come to find out when we went to Newport News office they told us she doesnt have a appointment and that we need to discuss how much it cost and how what it needs to be done. Well I wasnt told that in the first place. They only do work under anesthesia and it would of cost thousands of dollars for bunch of crowns and feelings. Its disappointing to say that Kool Smiles is about the money. I went to a different dentist and I had a better experience without having to pay thousands of dollars. This place is unprofessional!

Office Staff Great- But not what I had INQUIRED about over the phone...asked if they did ADULTS....they SPECIALIZE in TODDLERS and & yr olds.....IRS LIKE GOING TO MCDONALDS THERE....THE OWNERS HAVE MULTIPLE OFFICES IN 13 STATES. YOU NEVER SEE THE SAME DENTIST...IT A SCAM TO MAKE MONEY AND FOR MEDICAID PATIENTS....WHEN BOOKING YOUR APPTS., ITS FROM A CALL CENTER IN ATLANTA , GA WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT DENISTRY OR THE PRACTICES. ITS LIKE A LIVE "ROBOT". ... FIND A PRIVATE PRACTICE WHERE THEY CARE, BECAUSE HERE THEY DONT!!!!! GIVING A 1 STAR IS TOO MUCH

Would have given a 5 except for the bad experience at checkout. Victoria (Veroncia?) needs serious customer service training and a refresher on HIPAA/Privacy (she talked to another patients family about their insurance situation while scheduling my childs next appointment). Her attitude could also use a reboot. IF the statement that she relayed re 6 year olds can not be seen in the afternoon because they are too tired/wound up, etc after a full day of school is a true statement, I will re-post and give a lower rating.

My son had the same filling done twice by another dentist. He was still in a lot of pain. We were greeted by the assistant Quiana. She was great. Quiana really made my son feel at ease by explaining exactly what was going on. Dr. Yu was really great too. He even made Robbie relax when the fire alarms started going off. It was just a little scare from the electricians, but Quiana and Dr. Yu assured us that there was no danger. Now Robbie is finally pain free and had a nice experience.
